  1. As long as the Orioles are eating salary, I like this trade. I think Ryan Freel helps us as a team overall then Joey Gathright will help us as a team overall in 09.
  2. I really hope you stop being a Cubs fan because you act like a 5 year old who doesn't get the toy he wants when the Cubs are losing. Your gonna give youself a heart attack if your freaking out this much over the first 15 games of the season. Three freaking games ago very few people were freaking about this team. Three loses later which were close games for most part and people can't handle themselves. We still have another 147 more games relax, your acting pathetic. Freaking out after 40-50 games is bad enough doing it after 15 is insane. I know your not the only one so I don't mean to pick on you but relax. Go do something else with your time don't live and die on every freaking game. I really need to stay away from Cubs message boards when the Cubs is playing poor these comments make me wanna throw up.
  3. I doubt this sticks. Lou says alot of stuff when he's pissed off. It's just Lou being Lou.
  4. Stop pissing your pants and freaking out and wait more then 14 games. Thats all I'm saying, but people can't do that. Two days ago everything was great, two loses to the Reds, and everyone is acting like crybabies. We still have no clue how these offseason moves will work out yet.
  5. Haha what a stupid thread. But what do you expect with so many reactionary Cubs fans out there.
  6. Yes his WHIP is higher because of hits and walks, thats how you figure out WHIP. But his walk totals aren't really that much different then last April. He walked 3 guys or more(5 guys twice) in three of his six starts and at least two guys in every start in April. But in those starts he only gave up 1,3,4,4,5,5 hits in those games So whats the difference in Dempster performance so far? The walks or the hits allowed? I don't understand why you try to argue something when the facts are right there? Also the 2 runs in 6 innings and 4 runs in 6 inning performances were very simliar to Dempster 1st and 3rd start of last year. So if Dempster has a good start against the Cardinals Saturday he could be right were he was at this point last year. Thats why it's way too early to even bring up Dempster performance as a negative and thats why nobody else but you is.
  7. Very good post Thats because you have a short memory, and only remember when the pen has pitched bad. In the Astros series the bullpen pitched well overall. Sure Friday and Saturday against the Brewers, they had some issues. But Sunday it was fine for the most part, Monday it was good, and yesterday it was pretty good. Yes today it sucked but were talking about like 3 games and today was the first day it really gave up alot of runs. Also keep in mind if the offense was hitting better we wouldn't need the pen to be lights out so often. Well the 4.50 era also is due to a small sample size. Pitching 6 innings both games and allowing 2 runs and 4 runs in a game isn't exactly getting bombed. But the WHIP hasn't been higher due to Dempster walking more people. It's been because he's been giving up more hits then last year in his first two starts. Six total walks over 2 starts(12 innings) wasn't uncommon for Dempster last season. The difference is giving up 6 hits in both starts. Last year he didn't give up 6 hits or more in a game until his 9th start. Sure after that he allowed 6 hits or more in a game in six of his next nine starts. But early in the season teams are hitting Dempster more then they did last year. But honestly it's way too early to tell if the trend will continue. So I wouldn't really make a judgement or have a concern at this point. If any the end of April his WHIP is high, or his era is high then we can talk about Dempster not being as good.
  8. Hmm... Well he can't play much worse can he?
  9. Heilman-Good Patton- probably sucks Guzman- can be good Cotts- really sucks Marmol- Awesome Vizcaino-good against RH hitters, sucks against LH hitters Gregg-Good I think thats the less reacationary of putting things. Are you from Bleed Cubbie Blue? Everything is sunshine and rainbows there. Heilman-he sucks Patton-he sucks Guzman-he sucks Cotts-he really sucks Marmol- Great Vizcaino-he sucks Gregg-he sucks I have visited that site in the past, but I'm not a regular poster on there anymore. But I'm sorry if I don't freak out and piss my pants after a few bad performances by the bullpen. Try going off talent and track records instead of a bad game or two. Were 9 freaking games in the season, and fans like yourself act like were doomed. Were 5-4, lets relax a little bit after 11 games last year we were 6-5 and still won 97 games. We're struggling because were not hitting consistently, but Soto, Bradley and even Lee bats will wake up.
  10. I don't see how Wuertz is really that much better then the guys we have. . Okay, but he is. Nope thats just because some fans think he's alot better then he actually is. There's a reason why he spent half the season in the minors in 06 and 08.
  11. Heilman-Good Patton- probably sucks Guzman- can be good Cotts- really sucks Marmol- Awesome Vizcaino-good against RH hitters, sucks against LH hitters Gregg-Good I think thats the less reacationary of putting things.
  12. I don't see how Wuertz is really that much better then the guys we have. Losing Wood sucks, but it's not like having Wood on the roster changes things. Neal Cotts either needs to go or Lou needs to stop using him in big situations. I'm confident the 7-9 inning guys will be fine in the long run. That LH specialist and Long guy is what the issue with the pen will be. But most of all we need to start hitting the ball like the way were capable of hitting. Leaving runners at 3rd base, and not getting runs with less then one out sucks.
  13. Thats because he hasn't pitched since Sunday. Lou probably wants to get him some work. So relax
  14. It's possible the Rockies aren't chasing any of his pitches.
  15. This game sucks, Harden has good stuff today, but his location after the first inning has sucked.
  16. It was only a matter of time before Lee started to hit. I'm glad thats today.
  17. We have had a great eye at the plate the last two days, just haven't been able to hit much. I have no confidence today with this line-up getting a bunch of hits in this cold weather. Especially against a hard thrower like Jimenez.
  18. It's one of those line-ups that we really need a productive Derrek Lee in. So hopefuly he can start to get hot today. Because even with Fukudome, Soriano, Fontenot and Theriot hitting well we still will need a productive Lee.
  19. Thanks, Jim Yes because the bench was so much better in this situation last year? If this happen last year we would have had DeRosa at 3rd, Fontenot at 2b, Reed in CF and Fukudome in RF. With say Edmonds and Ramirez out of the line-up. With the bench being Cedeno and Ward. Today Miles at 2b, Fontenot at 3rd, Johnson in CF and Fukudome in RF. With the bench being Gathright and Hoffpauir. The difference is a back up infielder instead of a back up outfielder. Sure Miles in the everyday line-up over Fontenot is weaker, but Hoffpauir on the bench over Ward or Cedeno is actually stronger. So if there is a difference today it's that we have a back up poor hitting outfielder then poor hitting back up infielder.
  20. I didn't even know Fontenot played 3rd base. He does now. He played there all spring, and Lou said he was the primary back up at 3rd. With Bradley, Soto and now Ramirez all day to day I really hope this game gets rainned out. If we play tomorrow Ramirez and Soto might be able to play, and Bradley could maybe be back Wednesday.
  21. Him + Geo coming back + Rockies pitching = we could be in for some fireworks I believe we will be facing Jason Marquis on Wednesday.
  22. 750k, but from what I heard he wanted over 1m to stay with us. He took a little less money from the Padres to get a little more playing time.
