  1. There is -- no one bothered to start a new one though -- see leiter dfa'ed a few threads down.
  2. I caught the last out and he looked fantastic. His fastball was an absolute laser @ 99. He seems to have a new grip on his breaking pitch or altered his delivery. He was throwing it at 85 dead center in the strike zone and the bottom drop out of it as it reached the plate. After blowing the heat by the guy, that pitch was deadly. Much much better than the sliders off the plate he tried to throw pitch after pitch last year. The Tigers should not go back to Percival IMO -- if he comes back healthy, I think they will try and deal him.
  3. Here's a link to a stats glossary from ESPN.com: Stats Glossary
  4. Don't hold your breath regarding Wagner - according to page 2 of this article: (bold added for emphasis) Not sure what price ranges the writer thinks are within the Cubs' spending budget, but since its the Trib maybe they know something.
  5. And its not an option I guess. Pujols goes yard. Game. Over.
  6. "Albert could end it with 1 swing of the bat...." I keep thinking GIDP, but I know these Cards announcers don't realize that's an option.
  7. Edmonds whiffs. :D
  8. Another hit and its 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. TLR makes the call to the pen....
  9. Lamb singles in the go ahead run. 3-2 stros.
  10. Rolen K's Edit: nevermind the rest of what I said. :?
  11. Have the Mets given up on the division or Wild Card races? Unless they've got another deal lined up for a productive outfielder, I can't see them dealing Floyd until closer to the deadline if at all.
  12. Here's the Sun-Times article that started all that talk: link I wouldn't take it too seriously -- the Cubs make a ton of money for the Trib. If they ever need to raise cash fast though, they may consider it.
  13. From what I'm hearing/reading, Hendry wouldn't. What I am wondering is who he would consider dealing for Dunn? I'd think he'd deal Harvey or Dopirak, one of Hill/Nolasco/Pinto, and a major league ready starter like Mitre. Enough? Too much? Help me out here, do the Reds need a shortstop? They just sent Felipe Lopez to Detroit so I doubt SS is a need. Not sure about 2B though.... Are you sure about this? As in "sent him to the All-Star game". I had to read that a couple times too. Sorry for the confusion -- I definitely meant ASG. Given all the transactions that are occurring, I can see how my wording could make someone do a double take.
  14. I gotta believe Greenberg gets his first start this weekend -- maybe even tomorrow. The kid will be grinning from ear-to-ear every time he turns to the bleachers to acknowledge their cheers. Should be fun to see -- I love the pure joy Murton and Greenberg have displayed since being called up.
  15. I got so excited when I heard this on radio, I started a thread in baseball discussions on it. Murton batting 5th is awesome! Particularly, since I will be in attendance. :D
  16. Happy Day! Per ESPN1000, Murton will not only start today, but he will bat 5th! :D Here's the rest of the lineup: Hairston Walker Lee Ramirez Murton Burnitz Neifi Blanco Prior I wish Cedeno was getting the start, but I'mjust happy Murton gets the start today and isn't buried in the 8-hole.
  17. On August 1st he usually gets it right.

  19. If Dunn is traded within the division and it not to the Cubs, Hendry better skip the convention next January.
  20. No thanks. Furcal's OBP this year is .310. It hasn't approached the high water mark in his rookie year of .394, with .354 being the next highest year. So buy low, no? Or do you believe Furcal can't achieve those rookie OBP #s again? I'm convinced he can get at least a .360-.370 OBP and be a terrific spark at the top of the order.

  22. I've actually been thinking about this same idea lately -- Nomar at 2B might give you great production and stay healthy. The only problem is you still need a backup SS -- so say hello to a full year of Neifi starting and Cedeno rotting. My real hope in the above scenario, is Furcal signed to play SS and leadoff, Nomar shifted over to 2B, and Cedeno used to backup both. That said, I can't believe Nomar would it (except for massive Yankee cash).
