  1. Just spent 2.5 weeks in Hawaii. Came home about 2 days before all the earthquakes and volcanic activity!
  2. What? That answer should be "never." Yeah make whatever you can I guess. It is mildly irritating when he wears Adidas gear that is Cub blue. He stands out like a sore thumb when he is with other players. He immediately takes gear off or changes it post game.
  3. Each season, It has been entertaining to watch how pitchers try to attack him differently. He plugs various holes and makes it harder and harder on opposing pitchers.
  4. Not nearly as bad as packing into the horsefeathering red line. I normally walk 3 blocks down to Sheffield's for a beer and wait out the traffic. Takes 30 minutes for it to clear. We usually take our time getting out of the park, and the red line has never been too bad for me, except for the WS. That was just a wall of people that didn't move.
  5. At what point will Kris be making enough money a year to stop pimping various products in every picture? Everybody has endorsements, but you rarely ever see him wearing actual Cubs gear.
  6. Good jobs Carls Jr. Nice and efficient.
  7. 9. Curve-dongs Might want to see a doctor about that one.
  8. Time to sign a bunt happy lead off hitter! Imagine the slow rollers in that lush infield.
  9. https://www.funko.com/blog/article/toy-fair-new-york-reveals-mlb I find it hilarious that they are listed this way on that page:
  10. Kevin Orie Though what's funny is that after all those years of "Every 3B has sucked since Santo" narrative, we've had amazing runs with Aramis and now Bryant. As a teenager, I though Vance Law was going to be pretty good after his 88 season.
  11. I bought one of the gold championship Rizzo's, already had a Rizzo jersey tee. If I had to pick a second, it would probably be Bryant. The Rizzo jersey is the only jersey I've ever bought. They wife has a Soriano in the closet. She wants a Baez jersey now.
  12. I think they idea was (and still may be) to trade Santana for a pitcher given the OF surplus (he's been linked to the Indians for Salazar, Rays for Archer or Odorizzi, D'backs for Corbin off the top of my head and obviously more pieces would be involved for someone like Archer). But yeah they shouldn't have done the Cain deal and used that contract money plus other money (they are only in the mid $90s in payroll for the year) to sign Darvish even if they had to go to 6/160 or whatever to get him to go there. Sterns is playing 10 dimensional chess though or something, so don't question it. Considering Santana's 2018 projections are slightly lower than Cain, that $16M per they gave Cain seems even more odd when they could have put it towards Darvish and something else.
  13. Every time they fail to sign a player...BUT THEY DROVE UP THE CONTRACT!!
  14. When he ends up signing with the Cubs for like 4/90, Brewers fans are going to claim Stearns had no interest but instead did a masterful job of forcing Theo to overpay.
  15. At this point, no one is bidding anything higher. I don't see anyone able to make an offer of more years or dollars. Holding out isn't working, or he is just the most indecisive guy ever.
  16. where'd you get that interpretation? From Hunter's post: I was assuming that was all stuff that Morosi reported. Yes, Morosi is reporting that the Dodgers have interest in bringing Darvish back. How interested, is anyone's guess.
  17. Dumping two of those 3 to sign Darvish is pretty close to a wash as far as projected WAR is concerned. Would the Dodgers pay $10M more this year to pick up a half game in the standings at the best, not to mention the $60+M in additional liability over the next 3 or 4 seasons? Maybe this is Theos gamble. It all but assures the Doyers are out of the Harper sweepstakes right Grandal, Forsythe, and Ryu are all FA after 2018. Signing Yu for 20+ would take them out of the Harper sweepstakes unless they got really creative in payroll dumping for 2019.
  18. According to Morosi, the Dodgers are trying to keep 10 million in payroll free to make room for possible deadline deals this upcoming season. He also puts more to the rumor that the Cubs aren't willing to go more than 4 years. If he isn't going to get 5 or 6 years, Yu probably wants to go back to LA for a 4 year deal. Hyun-Jin Ryu is listed at 7.8 million for 2018 last year of a 6/36. Logan Forsythe at 9 million after his option was exercised. Yasmani Grandal at 7.9 million of a 1/7.9 contract. So Ryu is 6 million AAV and Grandal 7.9 AAV. Forsythe is 9 AAV. According to: https://www.truebluela.com/2018/1/13/16887090/dodgers-payroll-competitive-balance-tax-2018-arbitration Dodger's current CBT payroll is 180 million. Leaving their desired 10 million cushion leaves them with 7 million to put towards Yu. They are going to need to dump 2 of the 3 of Ryu, Forsythe, and Grandal to get close to Yu money and leaving a 10 million cushion. I don't see anyone taking Ryu at that price. Doesn't make sense why the Dodgers would pick up the option on Forsythe at 9 million then try to trade him. They might be able to dump Grandal and Kemp, but they would probably have to dip in to their 10 million cushion to still sign Yu.
  19. Yeah, when did NSBB go away and the switch to NSB happen? I miss having NSBB as a domain.
  20. Don't write an article about it, please. Write an article about why we shouldn't sign Darvish.
  21. i will definitely take that bet, and say writers won't let juicers taint the induction of did-it-the-right-way guy Jeter Channeling the East Coast mentality here.... Jeter will be elected all alone. He deserves to have the stage to himself.
  22. You saying this makes me REALLY care about the Cubs signing Darvish. Then you will love the writer's suggestion that we sign him to 8 years to lower the AAV.
  23. It has been reported that Darvish asked a friend what is a "onesie". Can you wear dress shoes with them?
