  1. The Reds and 9 other teams are financially worse than the White Sox in both revenue and profit.
  2. Assuming the expansion teams and new schedule didn't really impact the playoff picture(unlikely but we work with what we've got), here's how the playoffs would have looked like during this Cubs run. 2015: Wild Cards: Cubs v. San Francisco, Kansas City v. Angels, Toronto v. Houston, Texas v. Yankees Division winners: Pittsburgh, Mets, St. Louis, Dodgers 2016: Wild Cards: Texas v. St. Louis/Seattle, Boston v. Detroit, Toronto v. San Francisco, Baltimore v. Mets Division winners: Washington, Cleveland, Cubs, Dodgers 2017: Wild Cards: Red Sox v. St. Louis, Arizona v. Minnesota, Cubs v. Milwaukee, Yankees v. Colorado Division winners: Washington, Cleveland, Houston, Dodgers Yeah the Cardinals are one of the teams I see stumbling their way to the playoffs every year.
  3. Can't say I like that playoff format. Only 4 divisional winners instead of the current 6. It seems like you would see the same teams in the playoffs just about every year. Multiple teams could win 95+ games and end up being eliminated in a 1 game wildcard playoff.
  4. Wow 17 pitches for Jansen we really worked him
  5. Barnes isn't very good at framing way too much movement
  6. In all fairness Columbus has a pretty good arena. I was there for their first ever preseason and regular season games, which were against the Blackhawks. Sorry you live in Columbus, I hated living there. I don't hate it. It's a nice balance of the restaurants, sports and entertainment a city gives you, while being extremely affordable The fervor over Ohio State was pretty annoying. I'd be out on a Saturday and people would ask why I am not wearing Scarlet and Gray. It was like some sort of cult.

  8. I wasn't sure we would win the series, but I knew we would win the game. The Heyward wall climb, the Bryant HR, the Ross/Rizzo bobble, everything was going our way.
  9. The Nationals made a lot of dumb decisions. Wieters moves up on pitches way too much, hence getting interference called, and getting knocked in the head. Werth is just horribly awful in the outfield, He is a Schwarber equalizer on defense. No reason to be leaning too far off base in that situation = don't get picked off. Both teams were terrible with LOB, 15 and 19. Can you point to an egregiously bad decision he made that cost him the game? The most idiotic thing he did to me was challenging the first play- that was Marc Trestman like. But many people would argue Joe managed the game as poorly as Dusty. If the pickoff doesn't happen and Wade blows up in the 8th, that decision to blow the whole pen and then put him in the 7th would be second guessed forever. You can also point to game 7 last year. But Dusty's players horsefeathers up over and over. Everyone loves to blame managers because everyone can second guess them. Most people have such limited understanding of basketball or football Xs and Os that they can't be second guessed to the same degree. But in the end, baseball managers are most important for team morale and motivation. Their in game decision making is overrated. Not to say its not important, but overrated in general. In this series? There are quite a few times he could have pinch-hit Kendrick or Lind and he didn't. Nats fans were screaming over it. Werth should have been replaced in the outfield several times and wasn't. The whole Strasburg saga could have horribly backfired on them. Pitching an injured Scherzer on such short rest and after he went long in his last game, wasn't helpful. Joe made a few bad decisions, like putting Carl in, but when no one else can throw strikes, what do you do? Also, Baker having a hissy fit every time something went wrong doesn't help. It was just like 2003. Stuff starts to unwind and instead of rallying his guys, he's over there smacking on the railing and hiding his toothpick.
  10. Werth is even worse on defense than I thought. His UZR/150 is -15.1 for this season. Guy hasn't caught a a single 40% chance or lower catch in 4 seasons. and is career 21% rating on Even catches in the 40%-60%.

  12. That's literally one reason why we won the game. The Scherzer inning reminded me of the Bartman game and how Dusty was just disgusted and never did anything to calm his team down (and in fact, made things worse). It was something to be on the other side this time.
  13. Cardinals 2011-2014 so 4 years.
  14. 1. Game 7 Indians - duh 2. Game 5 Indians - because I was there 3. Game 6 Dodgers - Watching Kershaw's heart get ripped out 4. Game 1 Dodgers - My goodness that Miggy Grand Slam, really wish I could have been at Wrigley for that 5. NL Wild Card Pirates - Beginning of awesomeness 6. Game 3 Cardinals NLDS - we won game 2, but this was the game we just stepped on them and haven't looked back 7. Game 4 San Francisco - such tears
  15. I'm partial to Rizzo crushing the life out of Kershaw. That was the moment I absolutely knew we were going to the World Series.
  16. No they don't deserve it. They are over their debt ratio and still allowed to spend money.
  17. Thank goodness they are swinging at this junk.
