  1. Farve's "very good" days are behind him. He's average now and has been an increasing liability over the last few years. Can he still tear it up every once and a while? Sure. But the days when he is unstoppable are now much rarer than the days in which he throws frequent crushing interceptions. Favre is a good QB, and I'd love to have him on my team. The fact is that the offensive line is a shell of itself. The offensive line makes or breaks an offense much more so than a running back or a quarterback. Look at Plummer in Arizona vs. Denver, for example. I betcha David Carr agrees... Personally, If I had to choose, I'd take a great o-line over a great rb/qb combo any day. A great o-line will make an average qb or rb good. A great rb/qb combo will not make an average o-line good. Literally, the bears would be favorites to make the superbowl if they had fav-reh instead of orton
  2. You sound (here) like you root for the white sox 6 days a year and ignore baseball the other 359.
  3. A) gado doesn't scare you, brin? B) it really is nice to have a defensive line that can get to the QB. We went from amazingly bad at that (did we have any d-line sacks 3 years ago?) to really good in less than a year, and it's been a lot of fun to watch.
  4. Orton's picks tend to be (not to drive it into the ground) deep lofts, which are the hardest to return. I'm not terribly worried about that. I guess I'm really only worried about flukes (83 yard run when 2 safeties trip over a linebacker or soemthing)
  5. you REALLY need to specify that these receivers be wearing navy and not green. Every time orton throws deep I bet on an interception. I'm over .500 on these bets. He's actually the worst quarterback on any level I've ever seen at throwing a ball farther than 20 yards.
  6. It's in Wisconsin, about 120 miles north of Milwaukee. :lol:Not nearly that far north, is it? (I should really know this since I was driving there a few times this fall... yet I don't)
  7. you don't have to be a terribly good SS to make $5 mil a year (remember agonz?), which is all it would take to cover years 4 and 5 if he signed the 3 year deal. Furcal would have to be significantly afraid of being injured/sucking a lot to not take the 3 year deal at 40. there aren't that many professional athletes out there I've heard of who show a lot of self doubt...
  8. Please, management supporters, remember, people were saying it was idiotic for wood to be pitching out of the bullpen when it was happening. There is no hindsight involved here.
  9. I don't think anyone panned it. I'd say the tone was between "fair deal" and "lucky SOB's" I'd pay pujols $15 a season Oh, and if anyone has any idea how the term "panned" came to have its present meaning, please, share
  10. Wow. And to think how bad letting him go looked a few years back
  11. I try to avoid it too. (except when NSBB is down) I just happened to read that one thread there and someone said the same thing. But tim avoids it to such a level that he created an entire website so he didn't have to go there.
  12. I'll wait eagerly for a ghost hunter to come up with some "hard facts"
  13. How about for the bears? Teams the bears might play in the playoffs: seattle, TB, carolina, atlanta, dallas, NY. only NY is a cold weather team. I'd say the bears have the most to gain with hfa
  14. I have no idea if this was the same interview, but I heard him talking about the team's bad fundamentals... Basically, he said that the cubs were an exceptionally bad fundamental team because the players are mostly from other farm systems that might not teach good fundamentals. Unbelievable.
  15. He severely regressed from 2003 to 2004 (a full run on ERA, though his numbers are similar enough that he possibly just had a somewhat unlucky year) But I agree with you, williams is my number 4 starter to open the season
  16. No, but by only backing "your" players on this forum, you're definately inferring that anyone else is pointless, therefore we most surely "have to get" Player X. That's my entire point - you can't approve the best canidates only, you have to be selective. I'm not implying anything so important to start an argument about, I just think you're too picky man! Really, I'm not sure what can be said to this.
  17. You do realize that we have 6 starting pitchers on the roster plus rule 5 people?
  18. raise your hand if you'd sign furcal to a 1 year $15 mil contract at this point so we would have a giant load of cash to spend next offseason after a bunch of other teams finish making 1999-2001 mistakes this offseason
  19. Intertia isn't a force I suspect 86% of the board won't understand this at all Is that because of the spelling error? :D  I can't even claim a typo on that one  make it 88% then
  20. But they have another 4 games against their division. If they beat tampa, one of 2 against carolina, and NO, they've got a great shot.
  21. Inertia isn't a force I suspect 86% of the board won't understand this at all edit: fixed moronic spelling mistake
  22. I'm going to devote at least 6 hours to this game. If it's good, I'll watch it again on shortcuts. you don't often get to see the bears pummel the packers to take the lead in the race for home field
  23. thing is, any team could beat any other team. Just takes a few lucky bounces that turn into turnovers. Point is, I won't entertain the thought that team A CAN'T beat team B
  24. falcons will come in third in the nfc south, not make the playoffs, and vick will be stoned by fans in march (one of those clauses isn't going to come true) Really, raw, they're not that good (friendly wager time) I'm on the books as saying falcons won't make the playoffs, you're on as saying they will... given that they're the last wildcard atm (aren't they?) is this about a .500 guess at random?
