  1. Glad he didn't get hurt on that hit.
  2. "he's a long tall drink of water" Wow, announcer.
  3. "celebrating in an unfair way" he cheated when he celebrated?
  4. How do you leave someone that open in the end zone when the offense is on the 4 yard line? that's not just bad, that's hard to do
  5. I would have been blunter "but I was quite confused when the rest of your article was not written as a horror story"
  6. ND-Michigan is usually earlier than this (week 3 is about the latest they play any season) and the teams are about even overall, if I remember right. The team Michigan has usually ruined late in the season was Ohio State-they ruined OSU's national title hopes around 4 times in the 90's on the final game of the season.. So I was right even though I was wrong?
  7. Anyone else have no doubt that ND was going to lose? Comment I made when I learned they were playing today: "Doesn't ND usually have to wait until later in the season for michigan to ruin their title hopes?"
  8. Under the heading "NORTH SIDE BASEBALL." Frankly, I don't give two hoots how he's doing in Detroit. Actually, I do. I hope he does well and I wish him the best. I don't because then when they DFA him, Fat Hendry will resign him. I want him to be so awful no one picks up his contract and he never gets a job again. And you've got it: the reason Neifi is still notable and worthy of a thread is that baseball people still think that he deserves a spot on a major league roster. what people here think has zero effect on what happens in baseball in real life. there are probably people on this board that think they are better baseball players than nefi too. I'm uncertain as to why you posted this. I am certain that it has nothing to do with anything you quoted.

  10. By the way, are you saying it is totally fine for Joe to run up 56 in the first half on Illinois with his starters, as long as he doesn't pull that in the second half? Somehow that is fine, but Weis lacks class. You have to get your starters game experience. You can't just sit them the entire game. You can't hurt your future chances to win (not just get higher in the polls) to be nice to the other team
  11. cubs/packers fans are soft bandwagon fans. Possible exclusion for people who didn't grow up in a state bordering wisconsin
  12. Excellent job demonstrating that racism/sexism and truth are not always divorced. Pretty damned funny that larry summers was supported by scientists and lost his job due to sociologists/women's studies/etc profs
  13. looks like you nailed it.
  14. Cano has more wins.
  15. I could see wanting to have Walker and 2nd and Mabry at 1st over Neifi/Hairston at 2nd and Walker and 1st. Even though Neifi actually outproduced Mabry in May, when this whole thing went down? Mabry has been crap. Pretending he needed more time is just reshuffling deck chairs. But there was no reason to expect mabry to be worse than Neifi at the time. If Hendry had thought that Mabry couldn't outhit niefi, he never would have been signed. Whether or not it would have made the team actually perform better, it would have been the smart move
  16. So... want to bet $50 on it?
  17. That's not entirely fair at all and you know it. Dempster wasn't a closer his whole career. but he's been a pitcher his whole career. and not a very good one. i don't know why people expect some miraculous turnaround out of a guy becaues he's now pitching one inning instead of five. it's still the same pitcher. Well you'd expect some improvement from a starter going to relieving. This would be a regresison, essentially. But not a big/surprising one.
  18. My wife has a mentally [expletive] sister. She would not usually make that mistake. I'd use stronger language.
  19. You'd have to bring Marla Collins out of retirement to run around scantily clad in the outfield if you are gong to relive the true Benny Hill experience. Maybe she could chase Yosh Kawana around with a broom because he got too frisky with her. She could just chase his throws
  20. Yes they were. Three weeks ago they were the favorite in the East. Injuries change everything in a strech-run when it happens to a team's leader in either spirit or production. The Sox had been a very lucky team for the first 3 months of the season. Their pythagorean record was screaming for a decline In case anyone was wondering, the cubs are above their expected wins. If the Cubs and Pirates played to their expected wins, we'd be in last in the NL.
  21. Just saw this on ESPN.com. This is going to absolutely kill the Sox with Manny being hurt right now as well. Hopefully he gets better. They are going to need shutouts from Beckett and Schilling and basically hope everyone comes back. They have 16 of their final 26 at home. Four of the road games are at NYY, so, I wouldn't count Boston out until Labor Day. Beckett is not good. not too likely.
  22. I was thinking more along the lines of the theme to "The Natural" with slo-mo footage of some moon shots from right field. I'm going with Benny Hill climaxing with slow motion The Natural.
