You're right, but signing all of those players probably wouldn't put as many fans in the seats as getting Stanton. I don’t think the Giants have any issues with attendance (3rd in MLB in 2017). I’d imagine a competitive team puts more people in the stands than Stanton on a bad team.

True story. Last off-season I was driving through St. Louis and happened to land on a sports talk station. The first host asked the other two if the next Cardinals player to win the NL MVP was currently in their organization. The second co-host responsed that Matt Carpenter would win one. The third co-host said he agreed Matt Carpenter would win an NL MVP, but that Aledmys Diaz would win one first. At this point the first and second co-hosts acted like this was some great epiphany that they wished they had thought of first. 1. Lol. 2. Matt Carpenter was 31 at the time. 3. Aledmys Diaz was 26 at the time.

I doesn’t mean anything other than it really sucks to go out this way. If we’re going to lose a playoff series I wish it would be in a “normal” way. We never just lose a back and forth series in 6. 1998 Sweep 2003 Blow 3-1 lead 2007 Sweep 2008 Sweep 2015 Sweep 2017 ?????! Every time we get eliminated it’s with a 3+ game losing streak. Even pre-historic playoff rounds (1984 and 1989). Just not a fun way to end the season.

I never thought I could get this mad at these guys after last season. Playing horribly bad baseball right now. I don’t even give the pitchers closing us down a ton of credit. Lots of pitches in the middle of the plate. This is a joke performance.

I think Montreal is far more viable than Portland. But we're still operating with 2 teams in Florida that have no local support, despite championships and recent successes. Oakland is also still a complete mess. It’s a good point about Portland and Oakland. You can only move forward with adding at least one team in the mountain and/or pacific time zones. That’s not really all that easy to do. The biggest hurdle is still, are there 32 markets that also fit geographically into the realignment. I’m not sure there is. Actually, I say that, you wouldn’t have to add the team in the western time zones. There are currently 8 teams already in those time zones. Move Twins back to a central time zone division to replace the Rockies in the BA example. Then you can add any location in the eastern or central time zone to replace the Twins spot.

I love the realignment idea. It’s almost exactly what my brother and I have been wanting for a long time. The main thing I would want in a 32-team league is 8-team divisions. With 4-team divisions you’re just asking for somebody to win 100 games and get stuck in a play-in game while somebody else goes straight into the division series with a sub-.500 record. 2. Get rid of the NL/AL. 3. Increase number of games that start at 7:00 in your time zone. 4. Increase the percentage of teams with something to play for to decrease tanking. 5. Decrease number of games played while maintaining the same overall length to the season. It’s really like they read my mind. I think the overall quality of play would go up with the added off days. Would make up for the diluting of talent caused by adding 2 franchises. Only thing is I’m not sold that Montreal is till a viable location for a franchise.

I first came to NYC at age 18 and have been here for more than half my life. I cannot fathom the concept of becoming an actually passionate fan of a team as an adult. Root root root for the home team all you want, but to care? That's mental. There is probably quite a difference to how New York fans treated you as a Cubs fan and how Royals fans treated me as a Cubs fan. This is definitely apples to oranges here.

I'm as invested in the Cubs as the next guy due to my family ties, but I've lived in Kansas City for 6 baseball seasons now. I love MLB, so I go to a lot of Royals games. It's not hard to get invested in a team as an adult, especially when familiar faces stick around for many years. The Royals winning the pennant and then the next year the World Series was awesome, but it's nothing like how it felt when the Cubs won. It also helps when you have good friends who are lifelong fans of the team. I was ecstatic for them when the Royals won and they were for me when the Cubs won. I've even gone to Royals and Cubs playoff games with the same friends to experience it together.

This is exactly what the consensus was at our little watch party last night. About the 8th inning somebody said they weren't going to go back and watch this game ever no matter the outcome.

Guys, I have been to the last loss of the Cubs season each of the last two seasons. I'm going Monday, and I'm going to the first home game of the World Series. None of those are going to be elimination games, so we're good.

I can't believe how relaxed I was all day yesterday even in the middle innings when we were still doing nothing. I was worried postseason baseball would never be the same for me. But then I was going nuts when we started scoring. I like this new emotional approach to postseason baseball.

Was he the one who did "Santa Maria" on the Raji Davis HR in game 7? As for TBS that was horrible last night, I could barely read what inning it was and the number of outs. And I have very good eyesight and a 70 Inch TV Same. I was sitting less than 10 feet away from my 60" and I have at least 20/10 vision. Supposedly 20/8 is the best possible for humans. So, their graphic is pretty much inexcusable.
