  1. I know it's nitpicking a great player, but Albert Pujols has always had horrible footwork in the field. It usually puts him in bad positions to make digs at first that he should make, but it is the sole reason he did not make that cut allowing Andrus to move to second. As a first baseman you are taught to move your feet to get to the spot to make an easy catch at the side of your body on a cut. Pujols may have just cost his team a game. EDIT: The original post doesn't sound like it, but I am very happy about his mistake!!!!
  2. Wait?! It's possible for the Cardinals to blow a game?
  3. I want to see a statistic about what has a greater chance of scoring a single run: 2nd and 3rd 0 out or bases loaded 0 out. Obviously different matchups skew managerial decisions, but I would guess that on the average, you are better off with 2nd and 3rd with nobody out if you're trying to score just one run. I think the Rangers should be working for 2+ this inning so maybe not relevant here.
  4. A major reason the Cardinals win so much is Tony La Russa. They would have the best manager of the last 15 years decide to come to their city and never leave. And, they would have the best hitter over the last decade decide to play for half his value FOR AN ENTIRE DECADE.
  5. Definitely reaching the page goal. Almost no talk of Ryno. Some stuff about Kenney. Red Sox are giant jerks.
  6. 9. But I was also a freshman in HS so was very naive.
  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/chi-cubs-look-at-more-gms-20111019,0,2462851.column Funny how many in the media seem to have completely different conclusions about Ricketts than most on this board based on how these negotiations are going down.
  8. Not thrilled about Sandberg, but willing to give him a chance if Theo thinks that's the way to go. I think a 2-year deal is fair. Curious if Ricketts is trying to create the atmosphere they have in NY, BOS, and StL that it's a privilege to play for the Cubs. If that's the case Sandberg is probably a good pick. Maybe they think they can convince him to manage the Theo Epstein way. Mainly, no unnecessary giving away of outs.
  9. You have got to be kidding me.
  10. Wow. Two very bad AB there.
  11. Where exactly do you live right now? This is the first baseball season I've lived outside the StL area and it has been 1000000x more enjoyable. I'm still in Columbia. I work with an assload of Cardinals fans. It's unbearable. Definitely feel your pain. Are you originally from Missouri?

  13. I don't think the Cardinals pitching can deal with the Rangers offense. Problem is, the Rangers rotation isn't so hot. But the Texas bullpen is really good and the St. Louis bullpen is bound to turn back into the pumpkin it is at some point. And the Cards don't get the benefit of the Brewers defense, so that's something. But man, can Texas hit. Of course Philly could really pitch, so who the hell knows.
  14. Man I hope the Rangers show up. Normally I would think that all signs point to a Texas victory, but the way the last 5 weeks has gone. I hate the Cardinals. Sure wish they had idiots running their organization the last 15 years...
  15. You just ask them if they would be open to going, and respect each person's decision, and then bake that into your negotiating position. I don't see what is so odd about it. Exactly. Ask anyone he wants to come with him if they'd want to come with him, then tell the Red Sox how many. I'm sure at some point names would have to be involved prior to the deal being reached. I'm talking about those that are on the fence and have to make decisions quickly. That is not an easy thing to do.
  16. Who do you mean by each of them? theres Wolf who pitched a few days ago and got lucky an Narveson who just got smacked around a few innings ago. Whatever guys Roenicke was planning on using for 7, 8, 9 if they were up on the Cardinals should've pitched 5-9. Maybe even used KRod and Axford for 5-9 or 6-9. You have to do whatever you think is your best chance of keeping the Cardinals at 9 runs there and just hope that Gallardo can give you good innings tomorrow (even if that's not a realistic hope). EDIT: My bad. I meant to say bullpen and typed rotation.
  17. I am curious what it's like for the front office people in Boston that Theo wants to bring to Chicago. What if they're not sold on moving to Chicago, but they have to decide so the Cubs/Red Sox can negotiate whether or not they go? They could definitely be in an awkward situation.
  18. The Brewers need to go to the back end of their rotation right now and ask for 2+ innings from each of them while the offense gets more hacks at the Cardinals. I think with some shutdown innings the Brewers will get back in it.
  19. Confusing question as the Brewers play the Cardinals the same amount of times. Yeah but this is the first year where both have been competitive. Do they always hit 12 hoppers through the infield and hit bloop doubles, and every single bounce basically going their way? No. They usually hit 12 hoppers through the infield and hit bloop doubles, and 90% of the bounces go their way. PS: I want the Cubs to build their franchise the right way, but if there is some way for us to be somewhat competitive this next season without jeopardizing the future I want to do it so bad. So sick of watching this.
  20. If only the Cardinals had to face a team that had a good playoff rotation... Oh, wait, Philadelphia, but they couldn't hit...
  21. I call it the every pitcher who leave the cardinals, see piniero and jeff weaver. Jeff Suppan. (Don't know if he was a Boras client).
  22. The Rangers bats will somehow fall asleep next week against this Cardinals rotation that hasn't been good at all this series.
  23. Well, Marcum still sucks in the playoffs.
  24. She is much better than some. Pathetic that she still has to put up with comments like this. I don't mind her at all. And she's the beat writer for the official team website so it's difficult for her to give us much extra news/analysis on the website or Twitter. She has to just report the news and it's difficult to seem like anything more than a robot when you do that. I wish Sullivan and Wittenmyer would do that more instead of adding in asshatted comments. I'm not a Muskat fan at all, but I personally know the mlb.com beat writer of another team and they are very handcuffed in what they can and cannot write. Makes it kind of hard to judge them. HOWEVER, I'm often dumbfounded by her (Muskat's) comments in the mail bag, so I don't have much respect for her as a sports analyst.
