  1. I haven't been posting because I've been taking care of the new baby, watching baseball and trying to get some sleep, but I have tickets to every Royals postseason game and the first 2 have been out of this world awesome. And as much as I love Aoki KEEP HIM AWAY FROM MY CUBS! Worst routes in baseball. Also, high-fiving nearly the whole team last night was pretty awesome. Always a Cubs fan, but going to 20+ games here each of the last 3 years has me loving the Royals way more than I ever thought possible for a team other than the Cubs.
  2. lolololololol Water broke. At the hospital. Looks like no game for me. Water did not break. I went to the game. Wife did end up going into labor. Left after the 7th. Was watching all the craziness with my wife who is screaming through contractions literally while Hosmer is hitting his triple. She looks up mid-contraction and smiles. This night is amazing!

  4. I've been to a handful of games in Pittsburgh. Their fans are the closest thing to what the Cardinals fans pretend/claim to be. Also, McCutchen is a very likable star. If I had to rank them: Royals Pirates A's Orioles/Angels/Tigers Giants Dodgers Nationals
  5. Potential LA, Bay Area, Bal/DC and Missouri World Series. Also, potential Dodgers/Giants NLCS.

  7. I meant to mention this before, but I was listening to a portion of the Pirates game Saturday and watched a portion Sunday. Both the radio and TV announcers were discussing whether or not Josh Harrison should have been sitting out the last series of the season to win the NL batting crown. Why that would even be an option when you are trying to win a division...
  8. I've got Royals tickets Tuesday and for both of their ALDS games as well. However, my wife is three days overdue with our first...
  9. seriously. first time i can say that i was left wanting more since 08 or 09. can't remember exactly how i felt about the 09 season toward the end. hung around for a while but then totally fell off the map in aug and sept, iirc. 2010 was kind of that way, I think.
  10. Last inning on WGN. The sentimental side of me is kind of sad.
  11. If only they were showing Jeter's back... #RE2PECT
  12. Additionally, look where the second baseman was playing, for a guy with Jeter's opposite field tendencies. Buck Showalter knows the score. I can't imagine Buck Showalter would throw away a game just for the Legend of Jeter, but I watched the game on YES and from the shot they showed the 2B was really close to 2B and the SS was not even in the picture which means he was closer to 3B than 2B. Just seems really odd to play Jeter that way and then put a fastball on the outer half... Edit: To be fair his spray chart is not so exaggerated for http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=826&position=SS&type=battedball The orioles still had/have a shot for home field, they weren't throwing any games. I'm with you. I don't think they were throwing the game. It just doesn't make much sense to me to play him that way.

  14. I think they used the bribe of hosting an all star game in 2016 during the course of negotiating for the Wrigley renovation. It was tied into the Cubs moving into Weegham (Wrigley) in 1916. 2016 is supposed to be an AL park, though. So who knows. They'll probably wait until the renovations are complete at this point, so 2018. ASGs are used as carrots to get cities, counties and states to pay for a new stadium or renovation. Cubs are doing the renovations on their own. I would not be surprised if Wrigley still does not host an ASG in the next decade plus. Of course, they could always get one just because it has been forever, but all of the cities fronting money will be taken care of first.
  15. I think part of the playoff odds things are based on how well the team has played (not just record) as well as remaining schedule. So that makes sense to me. Yup. Oak lands run differential is ridiculous. True, but it seems a good formula would de-emphasize run differential the closer you got to the end of the season. It doesn't really matter. There is just no way that it is accurate to say the A's had like a 96% chance while tied with the Royals and say the a Royals were at like 75% with 1.5 weeks to go and the Royals right on the Tigers heels. Going off of memory, but I'm pretty sure that's pretty accurate to what MLB.com showed. Of course, I've heard that projections were skewed pretty bad by the projections that tried to include the Royals suspended game, so maybe it was just that.
  16. Multiple times the Royals have been tied with the A's and within 1/2 to 2 games of the Tigers and the A's have had higher playoff odds despite the Angels already clinching the West.
  17. Not an Olbermann guy, but I thoroughly enjoyed that.

  19. BFIB: "Adam Wainwright for Cy Young." I actually had a BFIB tell me something along the lines of "Those are just meaningless stats. Theo has you guys brainwashed. WATCH the games, that's where you see proof that Wainwright is the better pitcher." I'M the one that's brainwashed!? Did you ask him how many Clayton Kershaw innings he has seen this season?

  21. If you do a combo plan you get some but not all postseason games. I think you get 2 out of every series. Can't find the info on the website or invoice. I emailed my ticket rep. I'll let you know what I find out. Yep. 2 per series.

  23. He looks like Wayne Arnold from The Wonder Years. So, a douche...
  24. On 8/30 KC drew 9 BB and lost 3-2 to CLE. Since then they have gone 5-2 (plus are trailing a suspended game 4-2 in the 10th) drawing a grand total of 9 BB. 4 of those BB came in Saturday's loss to NYY and 2 came in Monday's loss to DET. Alex Gordon has drawn 5 of the 9 BB.
