Heyward was clearly gonna leave ATL after this year. Cards get 1 year of control for Heyward, 2 years for Walden. Braves get 4 years of control for Miller, and 6 for Jenkins. So the Braves get players under control for a guy that was gonna bail. Right, but they have to be hoping for Miller is better than mediocre, right? I mean, if you make this trade in November you must be thinking this is the best it is going to get. Side note: Post-Dispatch ran a story on Jenkins in today's paper. So what happens to the money that goes to penalties? It looks like that could be a nice chunk of change for Moncada. I'm just assuming it all goes to the Cardinals, right? Competitive balance and all. -
The Cubs being awful, living in AL cities the last four years and MLB Extra Innings have really broadened my baseball horizons. However, each game I watch I am amazed at how many players I have never heard of. I think it's because of the large youth movement in baseball, and most national sports/baseball shows are unwatchable.

It seems to me that you could make life easier and (more importantly to MLB) increase viewership for at least four teams if MLB swapped SEA and COL. Pros: 1. SEA decreases travel distances for roughly 18 road games (HOU/TEX becomes SD/AZ). 2. SEA now has all divisional road games start at 7:00 PT. 3. HOU/TEX move roughly 9 games from PT to MT. 4. COL move roughly 18 games from PT to CT. This could be debated as a con, but I think most working people would rather their teams games start at 6:00 locally as opposed to 8:00. 5. LAD/SD/SF/AZ move roughly 9 road games from MT to PT. Cons 1. OAK/LAA move roughly 9 games from PT to MT. So those games would often a start at 6:00 locally. From a pure travel standpoint you could also swap AZ/SEA.

The way Rogers worded it makes it sound like the Cubs and Maddon are embarrassed because they got caught. Or, it at least is not clear. The key word is "previously." Yeah, I really don't get caught up in the GG, Silver Slugger or even MVP voting because I don't care that a bunch of people who cover baseball for a living clearly don't understand baseball.

I vote that they are awful for many years. 2008 was still more fun for the Cubs than for Cardinals fans. Although I thoroughly enjoyed that walkoff HR to end their season this year. -

I do not want to have another season where the Cardinals are the consensus best team in baseball. Yeah, I'd prefer 2004 happen to them, of anything. I'd like to see 2010-2014 happen to them. STL hasn't had 5 consecutive losing seasons since 1906-1910 So you're saying there's a chance? -
Does anybody here have seats in the 400 level that often resales on StubHub? In the area they are calling MF? I currently have 229 Row 12 with the only pole obstruction in the very corner of RF. However, I think it is hurting my resale because people have no way of knowing on StubHub that I have such a good position when it comes to the poles. There is a glorious set of 3 combo seats in 226 Row 8 with zero pole obstructions that I would love to have, but they are not letting you increase your number of combo plan seats this year and I only have 2.

I don't mean to be that guy, but does anyone think the Royals will be "back" next year? You're not escaping Yost's idiocy two seasons in a row and they'll lose their "top pitcher" to free agency. No chance. That said, I also didn't expect them to make the wild card let alone the World Series, so who the hell knows. Yeah this year has clouded the fact that their core group really hasn't met expectations. Obviously Cain was a great find, and maybe the others will step up, but I can see this team winning 70 games next year before them winning 90. The only thing that did not break right for the Royals this season was Duffy's injury and Bumgarner was awesome and Panik made that play in Game 7. Actually, even Duffy's and Ventura's injuries earlier in the year looked to be season- or even seasons-ending but were just a couple of missed starts instead.

If Royals don't come back I'm going to be looking at that stupid nonchalant play by Infante in the 4th compared to the double play by Panik/Crawford as the difference.

I think $1000 for SRO for a potential clincher at Wrigley is too low. I have been trying to buy tickets here in KC for the Series and finally bought some last night for Game 6 for $326 (actual seats) when the market bottomed out. However, very few SRO tickets sold for under $500 to Games 1 and 2 here. I think we will be blown away by the prices if the Cubs have a potential clincher at home. $1500+ to get in.

One more thing that we don't know and he never gets credit for, but I have to think he has something to do with, is the Royals being extremely healthy the last two seasons and reeling off the best record in baseball in the second half both seasons. Yes, they are arbitrary starting points, but they begin in June and July.

I've said it before, he does a lot of things really well, but sometimes he just does the extremely obvious wrong thing. Ive seen him do nothing right this whole post season. The giants just put game 4 away because yost left finnegan in to start the 7th, resulting in 2 walks to start the inning. This guy is worse than Dusty Baker. Cometrly disagree. He has done plenty right this postseason including starting Dyson the last 2 games over Aoki. Now, I have been pretty angry these last two games with his hook and letting pitchers hit. Also, I was screaming for Duffy or Herrera to start the 5th (if it were me Duffy would have pitched the 4th with Finnegan to relieve him if he got in trouble). When he did not do that Herrera should have been up ready to go in the 6th. I felt like tonight was the night I would have gone 1 inning Herrera, 2 for Davis, 2 for Holland and then I think the way the first 4 innings played out played right into that strategy. Don't get me wrong, the last two games have been awful by him, but the rest of the postseason he's been just fine. Actually if it were me I would have probably brought in Davis when there was trouble in the 5th and ridden his arm until he could go no longer. You're losing Game 5 and won't need him until Tuesday. Dusty Baker comparison? No way.

And this right here is why Yost (who is usually a decent manager) gets absolutely roasted on a regular basis. Davis should be pitching the 7th anyway, not Herrera. Dyson could steal a base and Butler could hit him in. Dumb.
