  1. I'm pretty sure you follow the Hawks pretty closely so pardon me if I'm not buying how much moral heartburn they have caused you It's been expressed that a lot of people root for the jersey over the individual and lots of people had issues with Kane on the team. I don't think you're making the great point you think you are. Kane definitely seemed innocent to me after digging deep into his case.
  2. :x Well no [expletive] its not because no one in their right mind would pay that price now. Or should have even paid that 8 months ago.
  3. San Diego says hello I spent summer in San Diego two years ago and they had a heat wave and everything caught fire. Seattle 1, San Diego 0. I was there last July. It was 75 every day. I was there in March. 72 every day. The fires were probably inland? How hot was it downtown and up the coastline?
  4. http://66.media.tumblr.com/e524c401e6c07e7cdaa6e5e52363c47d/tumblr_mkhk03fCDr1r4wvwvo1_250.gif LOL, I was thinking the same thing!
  5. It is HELL in the winter. 9 mns out of the year you want to kill yourself. Just stay where you are people. Save yourself Summers in Seattle are the greatest stretch of weather anywhere on the planet. San Diego says hello
  6. Around this time last year I saw a Mariners vs Pads game at Petco and watched Mike Montgomery throw a 1 hitter, took a no hitter deep into the game too if I remember right..
  7. To piggyback on that adding Soler to that group I think is too much. A pure addition and having a deal based around Soler, Almora, Torres, and Happ could probably land almost any player in baseball with the exception of maybe Harper, Trout, Machado, and Kershaw. Go look back on past deals for elite elite players and most dont bring a haul near that in value.
  8. Would you guys pull the trigger on this for Miller & Chapman? Seems like it is similar to Addison Russell going in a deal to land two SP. Cubs also have the time advantage on this end, Russell was date I think right around 4th of July. He was the premium offered to land those guys a month below the deadline. We are two weeks farther along right now. Three good prospects, have seen Torres close to the top 25 in some publications (I personally like Eloy more), Almora looks like he can at least hack it decently in the Majors right now, and Happ isnt too far from the majors. Russell was more elite than these three Cubs prospects but the quantity is better in this deal, and its three good prospects. & again the time premium is on the Cubs side because it would probably be at the deadline. Other factor is it is two relievers, compared to two SP in the A's deal. Yup. I would make that deal. None of those 3 are close to Russell. I would bet it would take Soler as well though. Soler, Torres, Happ for both... Keep Almora for the chance they dont sign Fowler again next year or someone else. Maybe the Yankees like Vogelbach (pure bat) since their an AL team over Happ or Torres and work him in.

  10. this is my best estimation as to what league-wide poll might show; we've seen GMs prioritize star potential over high-floor solid projections so i dinged AA, Baez, Hendricks some Bryant Rizzo ---- Russell ---- Arrieta Contreras Schwarber ---- Rondon Hendrix? ---- Soler Eloy Almora Javy Happ Torres ---- Edwards Jr Cease Vogelbach Zagunis Candelario Id put Javy in Schwarbers group, right behind Schwarber but ahead of Rondon & Hendricks.
  11. That was my first thought but I couldn't remember his damn name. LOL... love after all that he says it wasn't a real NFL ball cause THAT would be sick.... Got a literal laugh out loud at the office when I read that.
  12. Lets trade Schwarber, Almora, Baez, Soler, Vogelbach, and Cease for Trout and just plug Eloy in LF if Fowler has hammy issues. Right now...
  13. I don't get it. Sports are literally watching people play a silly game. Why the hell let it effect you so much and what's the point in not enjoying things? How are you enjoying things so far? Not happy about losing but the team did play 115 win pace baseball over 2/3rd of a season from last July up till a couple weeks ago. Im pretty confident the Cubs are closer to that 120 game sample size than this bad 3 week sample size in which there has been a mix of bad luck, injuries, and some regression to the mean. Now you on the other hand seem to have been bitching about everything, always, no matter when they are doing well. At that point why even watch baseball or even post?
  14. to be fair it's almost the weekend Live Pic of Vinestal after he realized Hammel was starting tonight..
  15. Do you take the over or under Kris Bryant years in a Cubs uniform being greater than the combined years of Harvey, Syndergaard and Degrom in a Mets uniform? Do you take the over or under of Kris Bryant + Addison Russell years in a Cubs uniform being greater than the combined years of Harvey, Syndergaard, Degrom, Matz, and Wheeler in a Mets uniform? Keep in mind Harvey and Wheeler have already had TJS, Matz and Thor are currently pitching with bone spurs (thought there was even some talk of Matz being shutdown), and now Harvey has this scary shoulder issue. Degrom seems to be the only one healthy and he was a SS for awhile.
  16. Was his swing always this off and fugly in the past? I know in a thread that I was going into Heywards young very very nice power numbers someone said it was clear he changed his approach/style at the plate. He cut strike outs a ton and upped the walk but zapped his Home Run power in half. The person who responded to me also said that what was interesting was after the change of approach he was very similar in overall production, maybe slightly better than the donging more Heyward. Essentially little power but high obp, low K Heyward was right around as valuable as higher power, decent obp, high K Heyward. I guess my question is did high power Heyward have a different swing or just change his approach? Was his swing prettier when he was donging or was it just raw power cause the guy is built like a god?
  17. This is pretty much all I'm hoping for. I think Hammel's stuff could really play up in the pen. I would be ecstatic.. what more could you ask for?
  18. Speaking of Miller, while Cashman was busy asking the Cubs for Schwarber the Marlins supposedly inquired on Miller's price prior to trading for Rodney. Cashman asked them for one of Marcell Ozuna or Christian Yelich. With almost a full month before the deadline Cashman should be starting with those guys as "asks." You never know unless you ask. I bet Theo doubted he would get an Addison Russell out of Shark in 2014 but they got something done because of a bit of a mistake by billy and going for it early before the deadline.
  19. haven't most of those rondon blown saves been related to the stupid 4 out attempts he's been handed for no good reason? Also, it's been like a week and a half of mattress soiling. I do not think the pitching coach has sabotaged them. I wanna say one or two had inherited runners score.
  20. At least for myself, anything short of winning the World Series this year is a failed season, and I can't see how they pull it off without Bryant AND Schwarber. I'm not watching the game but I assumed since he finished the inning and came off the field somewhat fine, it was a pre-cautionary pull and he'll be day to day at worst. How did the 05 Sox win without the Big Frank. Their chances shouldve been 0.
  21. Im a Javy guy.. but Willson, KB, and Rizz are super fun as well.. plus most the team.
  22. How long has this funk been... 2 weeks? Maybe 3.. while banged up with injuries? I mean as a whole they've been playing slightly over .500 since early May. But that's heavily weighted by the current 12-14 stretch since June 5. (Wait that's why arbitrary sample sizes don't work? I think I get it now) Yeah thought we had a good record in May.
  23. How long has this funk been... 2 weeks? Maybe 3.. while banged up with injuries?
  24. Cubs have rocked Scherzer, Gerrit Cole, Greinke, Garret Richards, and I thought thet had a late lead against Strasburg? Was there unearned runs?
  25. Three things: - We don't have to know for sure to make a really good guess, and a really good guess is that Baez's defense at SS is not equal to Russell's. Perfect information is extremely, extremely rare, even harder to actually identify in the moment, and nothing of what does exist suggests they're even remotely equal. Baez has graded out positively once by UZR at SS in the majors, and in his largest sample he was a slightly negative defender. Overall over the three years he's been average to even slightly below at the position. Russell's an easy plus at the position spanning ~1100 ML innings. - Baez's bat isn't ready even today, not for a full time role anyway. - Eyes can be decieving and even then I would have to agree to disagree there. Russell's the better, smoother defender by my eye and definitely has the advantage on paper. Baez bat isnt ready for what? He may not be a star but he is already plenty useful as an MLB starter with the bat.
