  1. Holy horsefeathers Addi!!! That ball was destroyed...
  2. I'd say that play is made much more often than not. Probably by a LF who is considered a very good defensive guy who's played more than a third of a season in left. Kyle's still a work in progress and the effort was pretty darn good IMO.
  3. if he circled the bases yeah but the play is dead once they call him out right? They can't allow anything that happens after that to count when the Cubs were treating it like the play is over. Did they call him out? They must have. On a side note, that was a tough play for Schwarbs, he makes the play if he doesn't crash into the wall. His defense has been solid thus far, no complaints here.
  4. I think Roberts has a beef here, but the ground rule double is probably the right call.
  5. Yeah, kinda but it was by no means an easy play. Where's Travis Wood when you need him.
  6. Rizzo's locked in the last couple of days. Darn wild pitch...Schwarbs made the right move but still.
  7. Javy and Albert both equally awesome defensively but I can't decide who has the better smile? Oh hell, it's a tie.
  8. I have Direct TV out here in Arizona so I get the regular feed on my MLB Ticket which shows it starts for game time. Anyone know if MLB Network is cutting away for the ceremony prior to the start of the game?
  9. I just peeked ahead to whom the Cardinals will be facing today through the weekend and oh boy... :D Today at Wash. Scherzer (could get ugly, excuse me uglier) Friday at NYY Tanaka (maximum suckage to start the season but he's still Tanaka) Sat CC (a revitalized CC) Sun. Pineda (who had a no-hit bid last outing)
  10. Great points across the board, it's tough to sit Zobrist. I have however been a bit frustrated that Almora hasn't seen as much playing time as I think he should, but Joe has shown he loves getting Javy into the game as much as possible so I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. Javy strikes me as the type of guy who will get frustrated if he's not playing regularly so maybe Joe senses that too, Almora is the type that is just thrilled to be on the big league roster no matter how much he plays.
  11. Baez was in the lineup for game 7. I doubt they think he's "sub-optimal". I've been blasted for this opinion but I say it anyway. I believe the Cubs should play Javy and Almora as much as possible whether it's a RHP or LHP. These are the guys of the future, not Jay and Zobrist. What you lose in offense while Javy and Almora are learning, you gain spectacular defense when they are on the field. As good as the Cubs line up is I think they can withstand a couple of young guys struggling a fair amount and still score a lot of runs. There's not really a way to quantify the energy and spark Javy and Almora bring to the everyday line up but from a purely eye-test level it's substantial over Jay and Zobrist. Also, Jay and Zobrist are better equipped to come off the bench and produce more consistently than Javy and Almora coming off the bench. Doing this now could pay off tremendously for 2018 and beyond.
  12. Pull his left hammy while running over to cover first on a grounder. Not sure of the severity yet.
  13. If or when the Cardinals decide to trade away some assets this summer like Peralta, Carpenter, Wainwright, Adams, Grichuck, Wong, etc. and become younger, better defensively, and more athletic in 2018, what will this be called? An outstanding "rebuild" no doubt because they don't "tank" in St. Louis.
  14. Ahhh your're right that was Coldplay, "The Scientist". I knew it sounded familiar. It has hints of the "The Leftovers" though. This what I thought it was at first. Good to see someone else agrees that "The Leftovers" is awesome, final season starts this Sunday! Thought that was kind of obscure for Riz to be playing the "The Leftovers", wishful thinking.
  15. The little puff piece with Rizzo on Baseball tonight before the home opener was actually really good. Seems like such a good guy with all of his charity work and foundations he sponsors. On a side note, it was very cool when Rizzo was playing the piano and started playing the theme song to the HBO show "The Leftovers". I'm 90% sure that's what he was playing. I freakin' love that show.
