  1. Jake looked pretty nasty to start. Hitting his spots, lot of movement.
  2. Is there a world where Miggy catches Jake every 5th day (I'd prefer Kyle, but whatever), Schwarber catches Anderson/Monty every 5th day, and Willson gets the other three? Or is Schwarber catching only in late game situations? Does Miggy get more than 20% of the starts? I can't imagine Schwarber being in any kind of regular catching rotation, barring injury. I know they've tested him a couple of times now, but I really can't imagine a situation where he'd be considered a starter with any sort of regularity unless Contreras got hurt or something. Especially given the quality we have at the position in Contreras and Montero. I pretty much thought Kyle is the emergency 3rd catcher more or less. If something did happen to Miggy or Willson, wouldn't the Cubs think about bringing up Caratini instead of messing with Kyle playing back there for an extended amount of time?
  3. Was that a good victory for the Cardinals? Brings up questions about their defense once again and their closer sucked. Cubs are probably having water gun fights in the locker room while Matheny and Mo are pulling their hair out.
  4. Kris hasn't done well against Martinez early in his career. Martinez is tough, he does look good tonight.
  5. It's stupid. Buster has brought it up a few times during pregame and during, now he's got the announcers talking about it.
  6. Cardinal lineup? Mozeliak: 'Porous' defense will be addressed in offseason" 9/28/16 St.Louis Post DIspatch
  7. ESPN is running promos for the game tonight, it shows a slow motion shot of the Cubs celebrating on the mound and the play by play call of the last out of the WS. Then over the image it flashes..."THE CHAMPS ARE BACK". I seriously felt movement in wee wee area. Edit: Thanks David for that great post about Javy and Almora.
  8. "The key is to pay for future performance, not past performance" -Theo Nathaniel Epstein 10/25/11
  9. Joe ain't messin' around with this line up tonight. To hell with the Almora/Jay platoon he says...Wonder why? Because of Martinez pitching? Just wants Javy out there? I'm thinking he just wants Javy in there. I thought he might bat Heyward 7th pitcher 8th, glad he didn't, JH needs all the protection he can get with WIllson behind him.
  10. Yeah in the 3rd, Kyle got hit hard but got some luck with some line shots hit right at people, especially the one Napoli hit right at Bryant to end the inning. He looked great in the 4th and 5th so that's why I was kind of wondering why Joe went and got him when he did. I still think Joe should have let Kyle end the inning and bring in Lester clean. If that damn ump would have called the 3rd strike on Santana to end the inning it could have been an entirely different ballgame. But whatever, we won.
  11. @ #3 That ball was absolutely destroyed. If Addi stays healthy I think 30/100 is a distinct possibility for him this year.
  12. Watching Bryant run the bases is so awesome. He's so fundamentally sound running the bases it's scary, not a wasted step and looks like a freakin' gazelle out there.
  13. Weather in St. Louis looks decent for the series. Chance of some rain here and there but the temps are in the 60's. Edit: According to Jesse Rogers it seems Maddon is ready to throw Albert into the fire right away against a tough right handed pitcher, has him slated to bat 9th, pitcher 8th. If there was a time you would think Maddon would go with Jay, this would be it, but I like the confidence Maddon is showing in Albert. Hopefully this is an early sign that Almora is going to be given an early opportunity to be the everyday starter and Jay as the back up.
  14. I liked Schwarber polishing his "Employee of the Month" plaque...."Finally" If you look closely you can see the wall of plaques that every Employee of the Month prior to Kyle is either Bryant or Rizzo.
  15. Yeah, as already stated, Joe and Bossio had a game plan to get Lester in the game for the 6th and 7th. Lester's an older pitcher so It would have been difficult to ask him to get warmed up twice if Joe changed his mind. Joe had a game plan and stuck to it. Ideally it would have been better if Lester started the 6th clean instead of coming in the finish the 5th. Hendricks should have gotten out of the 5th inning if it weren't for a terrible call by the home plate umpire, he should have struck the guy out. I firmly believe that Hendricks should have been allowed to finish the 5th and bring Lester in clean to start the 6th, personally that was my only issue with Joe's decisions during game 7.
  16. Not just fans...But it's purely speculation. The White Sox smartest move would be to wait until the deadline and line up as many suitors possible and chose between 4 or 5 different team's packages of prospects. https://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/sl-cardinals/heyman-cardinals-sleeper-quintana/ http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-rumors-cardinals-reportedly-in-mix-for-white-soxs-jose-quintana/
  17. Maybe. Though according to RotoWorld it's seems this has been a lingering injury. I'm sure this is them being extra careful, but with the Cardinal's pitching health woes the past couple of years it has to be a concern. Per RotoWorld: Cardinals placed RHP Trevor Rosenthal on the 10-day disabled list with a right lat strain. This is not a new injury for Rosenthal, but he hadn't been bothered by it for the last few weeks. Apparently there has been a setback. Sam Tuivailala has been recalled from the Triple-A roster and will open the 2017 season in the Cardinals' bullpen. Mar 30 - 2:54 PM
