  1. The Cubs want Anthony Rendon really really bad.
  2. Seeing as the Cubs will have a void at 1B next year, is Huff on a 2/10 deal a bad idea? It gives the Cubs time to either find a legitimate 1B prospect or sign a big time FA. Huff is currently on a 1/3 deal with the Giants and he's performed well over expectations.
  3. I hate it too, but there are only 2 people on the bench. One is the back up catcher and it's a tight game. It's one of the few times I think Z pinch hitting was warranted. I assume Ramirez is unavailable, but that still leaves Hoff, Kosuke, and 3 Fingers Yes, but if one of Hoff/Kosuke is used that means you only have 1 bench bat in a game that is tied going into the late innings.

  5. This is the saddest game thread I have ever seen.
  6. At least I'm not alone.....
  7. Is it unrealistic to expect Archer to finish in BA's top 50 this year? He was good in Daytona and has followed it by being even better in Tennessee. The ERA is obviously unsustainable but he's got great peripherals.
  8. Anthony Rendon even though he had a pretty bad injury. If the Cubs finish the year in the spot they are now I'd be thrilled to get Sonny Gray.
  9. Really? I'm pretty excited that the Cubs are closing in on a top 5 pick in a very good draft.
  10. I'm really liking that on any given day there's usually at least 2 starters that I have some legitimate interest in. I'm not sure I could have said the same 3 or even 2 years ago.
  11. Actually quite a few do. You'd be surprised how quickly he gets pounced on the second he makes a mistake in those sheets.
  12. Agreed, I'm in favor of any of them above Hill. Chirinos just happens to be my favorite amongst them.
  13. My hopes are that Robinson Chirinos, not Wellington Castillo, can fill that role next year.
  14. Nice throw Sori and an even better throw by Koyie the defensive specialist Hill.
  15. .....and thanks to that double by Posey I just realized it's gotten to the point where my fantasy team means more to me than the Cub's season.
  16. Of course Koyie Hill breaks up the no hitter. Sorry Geo, even when you get healthy Koyie has the job locked down now.
  17. So who should we look forward to drafting with the inevitable top 5 pick? A big time power bat would be nice.
  18. ...could this team care any less? 14 pitches through 2 innings; at least act like you want to be there.
  19. You're correct, but sometimes you gotta stand pat. Good young ML-ready SS and C talent is insanely hard to come by. Which is why we could stock up the farm, agreed, but I don't think anyone would be wililng to deplete the farm for those guys. And I don't think there's anyone who has enough talent to do it. Or, if they did, you'd essentially be selling them for lottery tickets. Oh I'd be extremely pissed off if either was dealt, it's just a fun thought. Between the two of them I'd bet you could land 4 or 5 top 75 prospects. Completely agreed. Or we could use them to build a team around. This is obviously what I'm in favor of. In fact I'm pretty happy about most of young players including Dewitt. As I said, it was just a fun thought about the huge return they could get. In no way shape or form do I endorse any of them being traded or playing anywhere other than Chicago for the next decade.
  20. Castro now has the third highest OPS for all major league shortstops with at least 275 ABs, behind only Tulo and Furcal. His .318 BA is the second highest in the NL among all players with 275 ABs as well. He's got to be solidly amongst the top 4 for NL ROY, with Posey, Garcia and Heyward.

  22. Can you imagine what the Cubs could net for a package of Soto and Castro? I know it's not going to happen,if it did I would hate the Cubs, but you could make the farm filthy ridiculously good.
  23. Imo it should be Castro. I give it to the youngest player in the majors playing the defense first position. By the way, Castro now has the third highest OPS for all major league shortstops with at least 275 ABs, behind only Tulo and Furcal. His .318 BA is the second highest in the NL among all players with 275 ABs as well.
