  1. Wow good play by Alvarez, but stop bunting Pena.
  2. Why not walk Cedeno to get to the pitcher? I know Cedeno sucks, but still.
  3. Barney is gritty and gritty must mean speed and playing the game the right way. Hence we have Darwin in the 2 spot.
  4. Barney batting second already paying high dividends.
  5. Absolutely hate Barney in the 2 and I've mentioned several times before that Byrd has no business as the 3. Hopefully Quade figures that out soon.
  6. Why the hell would Meek throw anything but a slider out of the zone? That was just really dumb on his part.
  7. Thank you Pirates. By the way, please no more Byrd in the 3 spot.
  8. My favorite Theriot moment was the mass hysteria from the common fan on Cubs.com and other various blogs following his trade. You would have thought the Cubs got rid of Sandberg in his prime. I also enjoyed the less version this winter when Sam Fuld was traded.
  9. ....Thanks Kyle, I laughed out loud and now I'm going to hell.
  10. When it ends up being you against the entire board time and time again there is a real good chance that a) you are wrong or b) you are arguing for the sake of arguing. My guess is it's a little bit of both.
  11. I think that nicely sums up my feelings.
  12. This message should probably be relayed to the authors of The Beauty of Short Hops. Have you even read the book? how do you know what the conclusions are based on? Perhaps you should read the book before assuming you know what the authors are about. The synopsis was enough to assure me that reading this book in it's entirety would make my head hurt.
  13. By the way, I refuse to read this book simply because of the damage my forehead would take from slamming it on the desk after I read the inevitable grit comment.
  14. Wow, someone really should have sat the author down and simply explained that sabermetrics predict the most likely outcome, not the definite outcome. Of course there is no way to factor in extremely obscure situations like a ball hitting a bird. If someone had done this the author probably could have saved a few months of his life.
  15. If Soto is hitting eighth again this year, there will be a lot of kicked puppies.
  16. Absolutely thrilled. I was really worried about the state of the farm if they lost Szczur after trading Archer/Lee. This goes a long way in easing those concerns.
  17. If Pujols is going to get 30+ million a year give me Fielder for 18ish and that extra 10+ million to add another all star caliber player.
  18. Unless Cashner's arm falls off in spring training Russell had better not be given that spot in the rotation.
  19. What stat do you prefer? I personally like HR/FB ratio. Colvin's is completely unsustainable unless he's on par with the Adam Dunns and Albert Pujols' of the world. Combine that with one of the worst zone recognitions in the league and I think there's a very high likely hood of regression.
  20. I keep hearing the term potential when people are referring to Garza. The guy has pitched in the majors for 5 years now. It's so much more likely that he is what he is. The chances of him breaking out at this point are slim and certainly not worth dropping 4 of the farm's top 16 prospects including their number 1. The Cubs still aren't the division favorite and now the farm is going to fall from top 10 to hopefully middle of the pack if not worse. If Hendry was going to pony up for a prospect he should have done so for an impact bat, not an underachieving slightly above average starter.
  21. When you go to 5+ all-star games then you're probably getting HOF mentions as well. That seems like some pretty ridiculously lofty standards.
