  1. Yeah he was a borderline top 15 guy for me. Only pitchers I had ahead of him were Edwards,Pierce,Tseng and Underwood. Sands was pretty close too.
  2. Please be true. I would feel infinitely better about the trade if true.
  3. I just can't let myself get excited, it would crush me far too much if it ends up being wrong.
  4. No more dumb than people who believe there is a nearly 50 run difference between catchers in pitch framing.
  5. Considering Montero is projected to outperform Castillo next year without taking pitch framing into account, then...yes. Who cares about projections? The last two years of actual performance say you're wrong.
  6. So we're hoping that somehow pitch framing is going to make up for the 5.5fwar to 1.9fwar advantage Castillo has over the last two years,40M contract and prospects. Sorry but that's [expletive] dumb.
  7. It really is unfortunate he's terrible at baseball.
  8. Where does he play? Valbuena is already doing the utility infielder thing and as long as Baez is on the team he's going to be starting.
  9. Apparently Jocketty said they'd have to be "blown away" to deal Bruce. This is clearly executive speak, but I don't think they're of a mind to sell low on him. I wonder if Alcantara,Edwards,McKinney would be too much. Alcantara takes over for the ghost of Brandon Phillips, Edwards fills the many holes that Leake/Cueto/Latos will leave in the 2016 rotation and McKinney could be the RFer of the future.
  10. Names that have been mentioned as available. Carlos Gonzales, Jay Bruce,Cespedes,Beltran etc.
  11. Jay Bruce sounds pretty good. He'd still probably require a bit of a haul, but the price should be way down after his horrible 2014.
  12. It's kind of amazing that Beane is going to have traded Samardzija,Moss and Donaldson and received only a single top 100 prospect, one well outside the top 50.
  13. I believe there is a middle ground. There is just no way in hell there is a nearly 50 run difference between them based solely on pitch framing. That is ridiculous.
  14. Going to be very displeased if any of Underwood/Tseng/Mejia are involved.
  15. He's better than Castillo. Not according to fWAR or rWAR and I simply don't believe the new metrics that claim that framing is good for 20 or 30 runs a year.
  16. Put another way, compared to signing Martin we get better performance, lower cost, younger age, lower risk, comparable or possibly lower player cost(2nd rounder v. Montero prospects), and all without having to make a 5 year commitment. Or you could just leave Castillo to catch full time and throw that 40M at someone like Headley who would make a much larger impression on the team.
  17. Hey awesome we're going to pick up 40M in contract to get a catcher who isn't as good as Castillo but hits righties slightly better. Hell of a way to use 40M. No reason to make this trade unless they're taking Edwin back.
  18. I'd rather have had Liriano even with the loss of a draft pick, but Hammel isn't so bad. Let's hope Theo pulled a miracle and got him for a 2 year deal.
  19. Pitching prospects are just way too scary.
  20. No idea. I thought Yoan Moncada and his agent were there, maybe I'm wrong.
  21. It would essentially destroy Baltimore's off season. At the same time, how can Baltimore's owner refuse to let him interview? You've then got a pissed off GM, who feels like he is being screwed over, making team decisions for the next 4 years.
  22. So we're back to the Jason Hammel, Justin Masterson and Aoki offseason eh?
  23. Andrew Miller@ 4/36 plus draft or David Robertson at 4/50+. I think the Yankees made the right choice. I've seen reports they are still likely to go re-sign Robertson as well Seems like a completely needless waste of money, but then again a bullpen consisting of Betances,Miller and Robertson for the final 3 innings is just ridiculous.
  24. Andrew Miller@ 4/36 plus draft or David Robertson at 4/50+. I think the Yankees made the right choice.
  25. I don't get it. Even if there was a trade happening it still wouldn't make sense. The trade would have to be massive enough to lose 2 of Bryant/Russell/Castro/Baez for Headley to make any sense.
