  1. Ok Angels, time for you to go after Willson. Brandon Marsh +Detmers for Willson and someone in the 15 to 20 range. I know my takes on players are grating but alas: What are the chances the Angels move those players? Detmers is their recent first rounder at a position they've had trouble filling for Trout's entire career, Marsh is the ultra cheap LHH OFer in a mix of OFs that is otherwise RHH dominant group (Trout, Upton, Adell, Ward). I suppose it's possible if they have interest in Schwarber, the best LHH OF FA, but then they've got a 30-31 YO Trout surrounded by two former catchers turned OFers (Schwarber and Ward) and a 34 YO Upton Give me Taylor Ward (.323/.432/.568 hitter in AAA, 21% K rate), Jordyn Adams CF (IMO their best OF prospect and one of the best in the minors anyway), and if they're giving away pitching Patrick Sandoval Where is Marsh going go play? Trout and Adell aren't going anywhere and Upton is under contract for 2 more years. They could put Upton at DH if Pujols/Ohtani weren't filling it full time.

  3. Dunning is a 26 year old who if everything goes right is a BOR starter. I disagree, there's #3 upside with #4 being the most likely scenario. You're greatly underselling a guy who was a top 100 arm until Tommy John.
  4. Lynn is a FA after this year. If Lynn gets Dunning it's time to dangle Hendricks and Darvish.
  5. I don't really get this for the wsox. They give up 6 years of Dunning for a guy who isn't going to be a huge upgrade as his 2019 l ooks like an outlier.
  6. You're not getting Robles straight up let alone with Cate and Denaburg. Rutledge and Romero is probably as good as you can hope for. As far as Contreras goes, I still think I'd love Brujan and McClanahan from TB.
  7. I've stated before that I'm finding myself caring less about the Cubs now then I have at any point in my adult life. I think this is the tipping point where I just don't really care anymore. The owner is a piece of horsefeathers, my favorite Cub announcer of my lifetime is gone, the team completely botched starting the rebuild at an appropriate time so now we're looking at a handful of years of mediocre to bad baseball. Schwarber is gone, kb and rizzo likely gone after this year. Sigh.
  8. What’s the appeal? He doesn’t really walk, doesn’t hit for power (and he’s played in coors), doesn’t make contact, defense metrics don’t like him. Outside of last year, he has always hit 113,110,110 wRC+ his previous 3 seasons. He'd be a solid defensive COF with the ability to fill in a CF when needed. His walk rate should be somewhere between 6.5 to 7% which isn't much below mlb average at roughly 8%. I see him as an .825ish ops guy with 20ish bombs. Not a stud but certainly an everyday quality player.
  9. David Dahl needs to become a Cub immediately.
  10. Adam Miller is a monster.
  11. Granted they aren't playing a particularly competitive team, but Illinois looks fantastic, Miller in particular.
  12. Mired in mediocrity is the worst place you can be. They either need to go all in this year and accept that there's a 5 year rebuild coming or completely tear it down. They already wasted a ton of player value sending a very mediocre team onto the field in 2019.
  13. I laughed out loud and kind of hate myself for it at the same time.
  14. The days of this as a possibility are long gone and likely so are the chances of landing Kieboom. At this point I think I'd be thrilled walking away with Jackson Rutledge and Seth Romero.
  15. Yeah, we're at the point where the only way to get anything of note for Bryant or moving Kimbrel at all would require eating some money and with Ricketts crying poor, neither is likely to happen.
  16. One of my biggest pet peeves is drafting people based on tools and hoping it translates to in game skills. This isn't an egregious case, but I'm not thrilled either.
  17. At least when the Cubs were awful I had the farm that gave me some kind of enjoyment, this is nothing but awful with more awful in the future.
  18. I sad it earlier this year that we're going to look back at week 1's DET drop and ATL's implosion and be pissed off that it cost us a top 5 pick.
  19. Laughably awful play call again.
  20. The question now becomes will they have positive yardage in the 2nd half.
  21. [tweet][/tweet] Yeah, I've given up hope on reaching 200. I'm now hoping for 150.
  22. Really looking forward to Illinois vs Duke at Cameron in the Big 10/ACC Challenge. Nothing to lose and could be a huge win.
  23. I can't wait until 2021 when Nagy is still coach, because blah blah blah good record.
  24. Can someone tell them it's too late to tank for the first pick?
  25. We are approaching next level awful.
