  1. Good thing Bradley produced THIS YEAR for us. Almost exactly like a league-average RF, yup. Though I bet you'll either gloss over this post or refer to some absurdly bad statistic like RBI and pretend it proves a point. A league average RF who was paid $10 million and generally acted like an ass to everybody associated with the organization. Yes, we must keep and protect this guy. [-( [-( [-( I'd prefer to go with 2 outfielders the rest of the season, as a memorial to the Milton Era. His assholeness was truly transcendent.
  2. I don't think so. He wasn't producing worth squat and his teammates clearly didn't care for his attitude (and it's probably worse than what they admitted to in the article). Agreed. That article told me all I need to know about Bradley. Get what you can for him in the offseason and move on.
  3. Should never have been signed.
  4. The guy is trash and it was a horrible mistake to sign him. He should be out the door with Hendry immediately.
  5. Given how he's played since being traded and depending on how far the Cardinals go plus having Boras as his agent I'm going to guess...something disgusting. The Yankees, Mets and Red Sox will all be looking for a corner outfielder. I think he'll be back with the Cardinals but it'd be silly not to wait and see what the market will bear. I'd rather have Holliday over Bay, too. And sorry to de-rail the Milton thread. Hopefully he continues to hit and the boos stop.
  6. He could do both. Run Milton out of town and make a big splash by signing Matt Holliday. That would be a terrible splash. I'd love that move. Matt Holliday's career: .318/.387/.547 Milton Bradley's career: .279/.373/.453 Holliday is also two years younger, stays healthier and considerably less volatile. In a perfect world I'd love to have Holliday over Bradley, but Holliday is going to cost an obscene amount of money. As good as a hitter as he is I'll be stunned if whatever team gets him doesn't have to vastly overpay for him. That's not the kind of "splash" I want to see the new owners making. If they're going to overpay for someone, overpay for someone who "deserves" it as opposed to a guy with Coors-inflated numbers (though he is obviously still a good hitter away from there). Fair enough. It'll be interesting to see what kind of deal Holliday gets. 5/80? 5/100?
  7. Yes, why not try to go into the year with a strong bench. Fox has proven he can be a valuable asset to the team, if Lee, Ramirez, Soriano or Bradley get hurt, it would be nice to have him ready to fill in. Exactly, the Cubs need insurance for their star players and Jake Fox works decently in this capacity. Having a horrible bench contributed to this bad season. I don't think the Cubs should trade Fox unless he's a part of a trade for a true difference-maker.

  9. Quite frankly, I thought this was going to be a disaster. I'm actually shocked that people thought he was going to work here. The sooner the Cubs get rid of Bradley, the better.
  10. Getting Aaron Piles off the team. Then, resigning Rich Harden. Then, address the bullpen and second base.
  11. Would have been smarter than Bradley.
  12. Well his defense is beyond bad.
  13. It may have taken Jim Rice a long time to get into the Hall of Fame, but he was a first-ballot inductee to the Hall of FAIL.
  14. Man, Soto is HUGE. Geez, get on a treadmill, dude.
  15. I dont blame Miles at all for the contract. Thats all Hendry. If someone offered you a guaranteed 5 million dollars to do a job you werent very good at would you say no? If we didnt have a quality 4th middle infielder, and Miles was signed for minimum at the end of ST, that would be one thing, but Hendry jumped all over him like he was some kind of off season prize, just a month before other teams started getting guys like Abreu, Dunn, and Hudson for bargain basement prices. I blame Miles for sucking at baseball. I blame Hendry for sucking at GMing. Well said. It's a joke that the Cubs had to fake-DL Blanco to make room for Aaron Piles. Just DFA this turd and be done with him. This team actually had some mojo when he was on the DL and he came back and totally sucked the life from the team.
  16. not many teams would be able to play through the injuries we've had. I actually think we've played pretty well when our key guys went down . You have got to be kidding me. Second and third base became black holes of suck when ARAM went down. That was the injury this year and we completely folded. But then again, I may blame that on the great Cubs organization that didn't think Fox could handle third base until Aramis was almost back. Massive FAIL.
  17. I'd be all for trading Lilly if it meant the Cubs could keep Harden. I love Lilly but Harden is younger and better. As for the other two, they both are having good seasons but nobody on this team is untouchable. I'd love for Hendry to find a way to get Soriano off the team, even if it means eating some of that albatross.
  18. Why? Do you want to watch the Tigers completely forget how to play baseball again?
  19. no. the payroll for next year is about $120M and they've already sunk a lot of money into long-term contracts with Z and dempster (plus lilly is still under contract in 2010). offer him arbitration and probably watch him walk. I'm of the opinion that Rich Harden is one of the top five pitchers in baseball when he's healthy. It'd be tough to swallow watching him go somewhere else. Me too.
  20. By month: .955, .657, .585, .992, .431 he's certainly the model of consistency. Joe Morgan loves him some Alfonso Soriano.
