  1. Can someone describe the double play? Was it a long fly or a liner? Shallow or deep?
  2. Has he really thrown 7 straight fastballs this at bat?
  3. I really despise being stuck watching the game tracker.
  4. They must pay for this act of aggression.
  5. Well that cinches it...Braun cannot even hit a ball batting 5th. This should increase our chances of winning. Lol, I'm just saying this seems like a funny time for Yost to pull a move like this. Braun was moved to the three hole earlier this year because he felt more comfortable there and he has been mashing the ball ever since. Now after losing the first three against the team they are chasing they dropped him down to fifth. Just seems like a desperate move to try to get him going against Cubs pitching somehow.
  6. Dye has played one career game at 1B, I highly doubt they will tinker with having him move positions in the middle of a pennant race. You are more likely to see Q-Grif-Dye across the OF with Swish at 1st and Thome at DH. Leaving them with 12 million per year Paulie to pinch hit. Yuck.
  7. Bruan only has one career at bat in the fifth spot with a strike out. I don't understand this move at all.
  8. Hitting Braun fifth seems to rank up there with platooning starting pitchers. Just because he hasn't looked great in the series is no reason to drop him to fifth IMO. I know he started the year batting cleanup but has he ever hit fifth this year? I'm so glad Yost isn't managing the Cubs.
  9. I miss the FSU of old, they were so much fun to watch. Now when I watch an FSU game I just feel like its not the same program. I hope they get their swagger back soon.
  10. douchebags mostly Sad yet somewhat true. I don't seem to remember it being quite as bad pre 2003, but I was still pretty young at the time
  11. The only way this deal makes sense is if Paulie is on the move. Move Swisher to first and then have Griffey play CF and Thome DH. Obviously the Sox won't trade Dye or Q, so they have to get rid of the 1B/DH log jam in order to make this deal even make a little sense. Thome would be too much of a butcher at first, but taking Swish out of center would really weaken their OF defense. Konerko seems like the perfect type of Dusty guy, but the Reds have the heir apparent in Votto at first. I can't imagine a last place team is interested in acquiring an aging 1B that isn't hitting. I just don't see how the White Sox are getting any better with this deal, because they are going to have a huge log jam. Though with Kenny Williams there is often more than meets the eye, so I think if the deal goes through then I think the rest of the day will be really interesting, especially if the rumor that Beane is involved is true. Edit: With the deal done I still think they need to move one of Thome, Konerko, or Swisher. Giving up Swisher as rumored makes little sense to me, so I still think Paulie should be the one to go, but it will be tough with 2yrs and 24 million left on his contract.
  12. I really don't want to see Ward go. He's easily been one of my favorite players the last two years, even though I can't really find a reason why. I just like the guy and think he is good to have around the ballclub. But if we can make a move that gives us a better glove and something other than a one at bat pinch hitter than by all means we should improve the ballclub.
  13. Great to see Soriano back, hopefully he can jumpstart our offense. Predicition: The Cubs offense erupts in a 4-2 win tonight.
  14. It's so stupid that Bartman gets blamed for this. Alex Gonzalez was the reason that inning fell apart.
  15. I think getting back home on Thursday is going to help a lot as well. As Bob and Len said last night a lot of guys didn't get the ASB off and were flying all over the country. Everyone needs to relax right now, the team is pressing, the fans are pressing, at this point anything positive will be a lift. I keep telling myself to wait until next week, before hitting the red button. If we look flat in the Florida and Milwaukee series then I will start to worry about this team long term, but until then there is no reason to start declaring the team broken.
  16. Getting Soriano back is really going to help us, but the three black holes in the lineup right now are inexcusable. Ramirez, Lee, and Soto I'm looking at you.
  17. Get some [expletive] hits or take a [expletive] walk. And quit grounding into [expletive] double plays
  18. I could be wrong but I seem to remember that he had this problem in his first year with the Cubs in 2004 during the first half. Teams just kept busting him in, and then eventually he figured out how to hit the inside pitch and went on a tear.
  19. I'm curious to see some Big Ten Predictions. Here is what I think could happen. 1. tOSU. Obviously the most talented team in the conference, but I don't think they are so head and shoulders above everyone else that they will make it through undefeated. I think Boeckman is pretty overrated, however the defense is still going to be one of the best in the country. 2. Wisconsin. They have the deepest backfield in the Big Ten, and a huge weapon in Travis Beckham at TE. They also have a bit of a scheduling advantage drawing PSU, OSU, and Illinois at home. Nonconference schedule is very weak minus the trip to Fresno State, and I think this could hurt them come BCS time. Questions remain at QB though. 3. Penn State. Going to Iowa, Wisconsin, and OSU will be tough, but for some reason I believe in this team. If the senior wideouts finally have a QB who can get them the ball then I think they can make some noise. 4 (tie). Illinois. Very tough Big Ten schedule with road dates at PSU, Wisconsin, and Michigan within a five week stretch is compounded by playing Western Michigan in Detroit the week before the OSU matchup. God I hate Ron Guenther. I think if Illinois can get a win in one of the three road games they should end up here, and in a decent bowl game. Rematch against OSU should be fun. Need to find a replacement for Mendenhall or Juice could be in trouble. 4 (tie). Purdue. Painter is an absolute stud. Tiller figures to have a good last season with the Boilers, I think they end up with same conference win total as Illinois, and get revenge against IU. All home games seem very winnable, with only sure loss in Big Ten coming at OSU. 5. Michigan. I don't know much about Michigan this year, but I do know that there is talent up there left over from the Carr era. RR should be able to win some games while transitioning his system. 6. MSU. I'm a big Mark Dantonio fan and think that his program is going to be really good very soon. Losing Thomas early to the draft was obviously a blow, and replacing Ringer and Caulcrick will be tough in the backfield. If Dantonio keeps recruiting this program will keep improving, I see them as being bowl bound this year. 7. Iowa. QB play will determine their fate. The program has been in turmoil lately with all the arrests. This year could be put up or shut up time for Iowa. 8. Northwestern. Tyrell Sutton returns and could be one of the best backs in the conference. Look for NW to pull at least one big upset as they seem to do it most every year. Upset special: October 18th against Purdue in a high scoring spread offense shootout. They should easily win all of their out of conference games. 9. Indiana. Reinstating Kellen Lewis from his indefinate suspension without missing a game was another classy move by such a classy school. Wow, they finally made a bowl last year, congratulations maybe they can win more games then their basketball team this year. 10. Minnesota. Brewster has been recruiting well, but still needs another year to clean up that mess. Sorry for the length I am just really excited to get the season under way. And for the love of God someone beat OSU so we don't have to watch them embarrass themselves in the National Title Game again. Edit: Fixed my type-o
  20. Only my good friend Jack Daniels can make me feel better right now.
  21. This has got to be the worst run of luck of the season
