Wasn't he in Iowa to be conditioned as a starter? Seems like a desperation move to try to fix the pen to me. Why can't they just dump Patton already, he is useless. I'm guessing Shark will be our 7th inning man the rest of the season. -
I haven't really been paying much attention to the D-Backs this year, but Dan Haren is really pitching great. His ERA+ is 203, and he has a WHIP of .815 on the season. The Carpenter Johnson match up should be interesting, but I'd give the edge to the Cards in this one. With a win tonight I think the Cubs can reasonably expect to gain ground on two of the three teams ahead of us based soley on the pitching matchups.

It seems like a big difference compared to last year is our performance in the first inning. It's really frustrating that the top of our order is not producing against the opposing teams starting. Does anyone believe there is any chance that Alfonso can come out of his slump this year?

I am almost positive this has a heck of a lot more to do with Nike, than it does with Weber. JJ has been interning with them, and it wouldn't surprise me if that is what he wants to devote his time and energy to. It wouldn't surprise me at all if JJ ends up running the Jordan Brand in the coming years. Best of luck to the young man, I hope he succeeds in accomplishing his goals outside of basketball.

I thought Bertrand was a for sure redshirt but I think he might get to see the floor some next year. In my opinion that is a very good thing. I love his high flying, fast paced, creative game he just needs to get more comfortable in the half court.

Jeff Jordan is leaving the Illinois Basketball team. He will remain at Illinois as a student. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/1637037,jeff-jordan-illinois-illini-basketball-062409.article This really surprises me. I am guessing he saw that he was not going to get much playing time in the coming years and decided to focus on his studies. Best of luck to him in the future and I will miss seeing him in Orange and Blue.

Why don't you think Bethpage will get the Open again for a while. I think the USGA loves the fact that it is a public course and has rowdy galleries. I think that is part of the reason that they brought it back to Bethpage so quickly.

Packers 1 Cubs 0. Closest being 2003. I was at Game Two when Sammy hit it onto the camera shed in center. That was pretty awesome. Sabres 0. Brett Hull was in the crease. Lived in NY for a short time, all my friends played hockey so they got me into the Sabres. Bulls 6 Illinois Basketball 0. I don't like talking about this one. Illinois Football 0. This is just a joke, but going to the Rose Bowl was sweet.
