  1. So you'd rather the Big Ten have Texas than Mizzou, Nebraska and Rutgers? Yes my ideal and what I feel would be best for the conference is Texas, A&M, ND, Pitt, and Syracuse. Academically and athletically these are the best matches.
  2. Makes a lot more sense. I just think if you are looking east Rutgers is the wrong school. Syracuse and Pitt are both better fits in my mind. Plus the addition of Pitt will give PSU a real rival
  3. Well if ND is ready to jump, Texas is stupid if they don't jump. I'm guessing three other schools would be required to get ND to jump because that would create the money, which leads to the Big 10 getting ND + sloppy seconds.
  4. I'm trying to figure out what the hell is about to happen to Texas if this is true. If we miss on Texas for Rutgers, Mizzou, and Nebraska I'm not going to be happy.
  5. That article doesn't mention Texas once. Doc Saturday linked to an article from March that I hadn't seen before, about how a leaked study showed the consideration was Rutgers first, Mizzou 2nd, and Pitt 3rd. That link then goes on to show why Rutgers won't actually be able to do the things that make them 1st. Also, the KC Star had an article about how Big 12 sources were "tired of (Mizzou and Nebraska's) act" of flirting with the Big 10. Which is hilarious because the conference has done everything short of actively attempting to screw Mizzou over, especially the last few years. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/bryanburwell/story/96D6D1A0B6A03CB38625771E000DA051?OpenDocument My bad I read this article first this morning, and linked the two together in my head. Rutgers makes me want to vomit. I'd rather see Syracuse if they are trying to grab the New York market.
  6. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/mizzou/story/155C33BD4A6244698625771D00080866?OpenDocument Found this article interesting about the benefits of Mizzou going to the Big Ten. I still think they are not anywhere near the top of the Big Ten's list, but Mizzou seems to have a major case of Texas penis envy. 13 million is a big difference in TV money for Mizzou, and I have to think if given the opportunity they will jump. I think the Big Ten's list looks like this right now: ND, Texas (and with Texas goes A&M), Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers, and then Mizzou, Nebraska, etc.
  7. McCamey and Davis are coming back. As are Johnson and Moore. Big Ten should be a lot of fun next year with MSU, OSU, PU, and U of I. Wisconsin and Minnesota should also be solid, and NU has a chance to make the tournament.
  8. Gee this could be the Bill Cole redux.
  9. What the hell if Lebron's endgame from this? Trying to get more young ballers to join his brand? Or is it he trying to become the NBA's biggest douche? He's already the NBA's biggest douche. He has surpassed early 2000's Kobe levels of douchedom. As for his endgame, it's gotta be all about the shoes.
  10. This is just getting to be a joke. Why I am not laughing Cause Kentucky hasn't been knocked out shy of the Final 4 again yet. Calipari makes Matta look like a poor recruiter.
  11. This is just getting to be a joke.
  12. Peters was briefly on Illinois' radar. There was a rumor he may be moving to Effingham a while back. He looked solid in the video I saw of him.
  13. None of those schools excite me. Mizzou would be sweet for the rivalry with Illinois, but academics are an issue for it and Nebraska. I also can't see Nebraska tossing aside it's old Big 8 Rivalries in football. Plus they add nothing in terms of television. I really don't see the benefit of either Big 12 school, unless it is to get the conference to 16. And Bum, you are right. I probably shouldn't have quoted you, I was just laying out my best case scenario for the conference.
  14. The natural rivalries is a big thing, I think. Outside of Arkansas, there's just no established rivalries for either team. I agree, though, this is just throwing around ideas right now. I agree the natural rivalries are a big thing but getting two teams like Texas and Oklahoma isn't something any conference would turn down. They both have strong followings, bring in lots of money, are very good in the big sports and bring one of the best rivalries with them. The whole problem with this is not Texas and Oklahoma, its Texas and A&M. Texas isn't going anywhere unless A&M is going. The Oklahoma rivalry is great, but there is no way I can see Texas parting ways with A&M. If the Big Ten can secure a commitment from ND, I think the Texas scenario becomes a whole lot more likely. A&M would make 14 teams, and then you can throw in Pitt and one of Rutgers or Syracuse. Much like ND will schedule USC out of conference Texas will continue to schedule Oklahoma each year. This is just me throwing crap against the wall right now, but I think financially this would be the biggest win for the conference. If Texas can agree to just schedule Oklahoma every year as a non-conference they can do the same with A&M. Except A&M is a better academic school than Oklahoma, and is ranked at the same level as Purdue. Oklahoma is ranked outside the top 100. Academics will weight very heavily in the decision.

  16. So will the media tell us it's ok to start hating Duke again if they are the favorites?
  17. No. I think there's always a chance CMA bolts. If the Tigers perform like I think they will over the next two seasons, it'll be hard to keep him at his current price. Is Arkansas Anderson's dream job being a Nolan Richardson disciple?
  18. Well we already knew he was stupid. I've seen the tweets as well, and it doesn't look good.
  19. every bit as good as purdue in engineering? That's like saying that Scarlett Johansson is every bit as good looking as Kathy Bates. I'm no expert, but I would guess that Purdue ranks ahead of Illinois in some engineering fields. It would probably depend on which type of engineering he wants to do. Purdue isn't even the second best engineering school in the Big Ten. Graduate or Undergraduate. I rest my case. Neil Armstrong called. He said you can kiss his ass. And without the integrated circuit he wouldn't have gotten anywhere close to the moon.

  21. They can take Bruce Weber. I loved Klee and Tate telling illini fans to be careful what they wish for because Weber has been contacted about job openings. Lol, go ahead Bruce take one. Hypothetically speaking I don't know which is worst. 5 more years of Bruce Weber, or allowing Ron Guenther another opportunity to hire a coach. Loren Tate is a senile moran, DIA apologist. /end rant
  22. They can take Bruce Weber.
  23. I think I read somewhere that he is dirt poor? Can anyone confirm this.
  24. I figured this thread would be full of Purdue homers crying about Johnson and Moore declaring for the draft. I don't think either one will stay in, but I came by to see the meltdown and now I'm a bit disappointed. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2010/news/story?id=5086419
  25. I thought Theriot and Fontenot were supposed to be our scapegoats coming into the season. Or maybe they just suck.
