  1. We'll see if he pitches more innings than Gaudin today.
  2. He might not even be the MVP of the left side of the Cubs field. Not because Soriano is bad (he is very good), but Ramirez is pretty damn awesome. If only he could get hurt so we could figure out his true value. Awesome.
  3. This is arguably the best Cubs offense most of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. They're FINALLY doing everything this board has been screaming for for years. By all means, let's get greedy and dick with it.
  4. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there's slightly more talent on the ASG roster than the Mariners...perhaps...maybe. Yeah, but the Mariners don't have to play a team of all-stars every game. It's all relative. Seriously, the article makes it sound like his speech is actually the reason they win every year. If so, someone on the NL team needs to step up and get nasty. For real.
  5. If Ichiro can make a speech and get the AL to dominate every ASG, how come the Mariners suck so bad? What, no speeches for his own teammates? I don't get it.
  6. Tough loss. But at least we can all be happy for the Cardinal fans, right?
  7. http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/1158/capt39d85d4beea84407a6asb1.jpg I could stay young and chipper and I'd lock it with a zipper, If I only had a heart.
  8. I think Wojo is a Chicago guy. Yeah, he wrote that book chronicling the 04 season. Can't recall the title, but it had a pretty crappy ending.
  9. Well, let's not start printing WS tix quite yet.
  10. Even if they trade him, I think Cincy would still be on the hook for that, as that is money due for DL stints already rendered. Fixed that for ya. Griffey should be a DH. He has no business putting a mitt on his hand at this point, unless it's to get the cookies out of the oven.
  11. Remember the Mitre vs. Halladay game? Ha, I was just thinking that. Didn't he beat Halladay and, like, Beckett back-to-back? And everyone was like, "Who needs Wood; we got another Maddux here". That worked out well.
  12. Thanks for the backing. However, I don't work at a Crab shack, drop off lobsters or wait tables. I said I was in PR. I don't deal with food only people. People including owners, GM, Managers, players, etc. I guess some of you are suprised that people talk about sports like they are not matters of national security, it's only sports. Pffft. "national security". Like THAT'S important.
  13. CC or bust. Seriously. C&Z. The Biggie Twins. El Toro & El More-o. Doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit. I just became a huge fan of whoever is playing Cleveland.
  14. I'd swap starting rotations with the Reds in a heartbeat. Once Jocketty Dusty-proofs that lineup, they're gonna be very good very soon.
  15. Question is, would you trade Soto for Bruce (hypothetically, of course)?
  16. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy He's a horrible baseball analyst because he doesn't ever look at stats outside of the "big 3" in both hitting and pitching? He's the Dusty Baker of announcers (now that Dusty isn't an announcer anymore): a hopeless dinosaur who refuses to acknowledge or accept that the way the game is played isn't going to stay exactly the way it was when he was a player.
  17. That sounds suspiciously like what Dusty said when Sammy Sosa "volunteered" to move down in the lineup after people had been screaming for it for weeks in 04. It's his way of protecting his players, letting them save face when they have no choice. I imagine it's one of the reasons he's considered a "player's manager". That, or Patterson knew he'd have no chance to play with Bruce around. Either way, it's not all that impressive, IMO. Prediction: When Jr. finally moves down in the lineup, that'll be due to his team player selflessness, too.
  18. Soriano, hands down. Dude just offends my sensibilities.
  19. Please don't say that he just hit a granny. When I hear granny, I think grandmother. A very disturbing image you just described. Hamilton just drilled a granny. It was a monster shot. I laughed a lot at this. He went deep.
  20. To elaborate on why this would happen some more, the Giants have a pretty heavy lack of talent at the major league level, and they aren't about to home grow an offense like the Brewers any time soon. They might be persuaded to trade a young pitcher like Cain if they can get some quantity in return. They'd still have Lincecum to head the rotation and Sanchez as another young starter, plus probably a decent arm from us. Position player wise they are locked into Rowand's contract, and Travis Denker is a good looking hitter at 2B, so EPatt probably isn't a good match. However, players like Murton, Pie(undeniable talent, one would probably hit well enough for a corner OF, tremendous OF defense in a spacious home outfield), and Cedeno match up well, in addition to pitching that's always needed, like Gallagher, Hill, or Marshall. Personally, I think Marshall/Gallagher, Cedeno, and Murton is a pretty strong package for Cain, although I don't know how well it would stack up to other potential offers. Sign me up for Cain as well. Dude is RAKING this year too (in 19 ABs). I just find it hard to believe that a package that couldn't get two years of Roberts could get 3+ years of really good starting pitching.
  21. I think he just stays more focused when he knows his playing time is in jeopardy. Thank you, Ronnie.
  22. That is one bad mother-- SHUT YO' MOUTH! I'm only talkin' about Soto! We can dig it. Who's the rookie backstop Who's a hit machine with lots of pop?
  23. It's a good way to find out who knows everything and who's willing to wait and see. It's possible he won't suck.
