  1. If Kosuke can take his new mechanics and get back to the Kosuke of April and May, how huge will that be in September and October?
  2. White Sox lose. Good start to the night.
  3. With a 9 game lead in the loss column and 8 overall, the magic number for a playoff spot is down to 25. The Cardinals have played two more games then us.
  4. He and Thom Brennaman are two very scorned Douchebags. :rotfl:
  5. It means Jack? Check the division standing and perhaps you'll see how big that series was. Because of that series, the next series might not mean too much.
  6. If the Brewers came to Wrigley and put a 4 game beatdown on the Cubs, the last thing I would be saying is: "We'll see what happens when they play some real teams on the road". Now that's some funny chit.
  7. http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/15037/t/8-23-08-Non-Brewers-IGT.html "EXACTLY!! They have several guys that are having career years or better seasons than any they have had recently and they still only have a 4 1/2 game lead on the Crew. That should tell any baseball fan what they need to know about the two teams. It's taking several career years from Cubs players to ONLY have a 4 1/2 game lead on the more talented Brewers who by the way, have several players that are having worse seasons than they had last year. Don't forget Mark DeRosa's career high in HR's or Jim Edmonds's Babe Ruthian impression this year". Did this goof just decide to not mention the fact that Lee and Ramirez, especially Lee, have performed a bit below career levels thus far? He also forgets to mention Soriano has missed nearly two months of the season and we are STILL 4.5 ahead DESPITE that. I also must have missed the series when we played a real team on the road in Milwaukee. Can anyone tell me what happened in that series? I'm sure it was close. 8-) Gotta love these guys. :rotfl:
  8. Get that clown out of the booth. "What that a strike? it looked like it" The pitch was above Soriano's helmet.
  9. Kosuke hearing the boo birds. It was only a matter of time that the fans got sick of his terrible play.
  10. The Cubs have the perfect balance of power and the ability to manufacture runs. It's probably the best mix on offense I have ever seen on a Cubs team. They can club you with the home run or single and double you to death. Pick your posion.
  11. I agree, we all know what type of production Wood give with health but you have to admit his health would be considered a bonus thus far. If that Baseball America tools thing is an indication, the managers consider him the second best glove in the NL at third behind only Wright. Now doubt we all were concerned about Wood staying healthy.
  12. I don't look at Wood as unexpected production. He's been healthy and I always felt he could be a great closer once he got comfortable in the role. Now, Edmonds, Johnson, Theriot, Soto and Demp? That another story. I thought Soto would be good, not this good. I am more impressed with how he has handled our staff. As I type this, Aramis with another gem at 3rd base. He needs to get gold glove consideration this year.
  13. Lee! 2 feet to the right and it's an easy DP. 1-0 Cubs!
  14. All of the sudden Mojo Pins avatar becomes wishfull thinking. Meanwhile, the Sox get great poduction from a malnourished Cuban shortstop who wasnt projected to make the big leagues this year. Go figure. You could say the same about Reed Johnson and Theriot as far as unexpected great production.
  15. I'm almost certain I heard a smattering of boo's for Kosuke after that ridiculous swing and miss. Seriously, I'd consider trading him in the off season unless he gets real hot and shows something. IMO, the guy sucks.
  16. Seems Soto and Marmol saw what I saw. Interesting that his numbers have been dominant again since he started throwing more heat. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080820&content_id=3340911&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc The change didn't happen at the break. Marmol and catcher Geovany Soto actually began talking about mixing in more fastballs before the break because it seemed as if hitters had figured out the right-hander's slider. "He's been pitching real good with his fastball," Soto said. "Before the first half ended, he was using the slider a little more, and teams were starting to hit him a little bit. Now he uses his fastball more. He's got two pitches instead of one. "They sit on the fastball, he throws a slider," Soto said. "When he throws sliders, they're looking fastballs. It's a good plan. He's got a good enough slider and fastball, and neither is easy to hit".
  17. The Cubs looked liked they weren't really into the game tonight. I think they are becoming a bit complacent with where they are and the fact they have a 6 game lead in the loss column even after tonight. It looked like a disinterested team tonight and even last night. The Brewers have played two more games then the Cubs, one of which the Cubs will make up tomorrow. They'll be back up 5.5 after tomorrow. They actually look bored out there.
  18. Aramis!! 3-0! Way to get the offense jump started, Sori. Nice Job, Lee and Rammy.
  19. If Harden knew how to bunt, we'd be up 1-0. Bad inning.
