  1. I don't care if they win 100 or not, but 15-9 is certainly within reach with this team. Lou's 2001 M's won 118 and then got beat in the 1st round. The 03 Braves won 102 and we know who knocked them out. I'll be glad to get HF advantage and take my chances.
  2. To put it in perspective, if the Cubs go 10-12 the rest of the way, the wild card runner up would need to go 21-3. We're winning the division, though.
  3. Well, the biggest difference is that we now have a 10 game playoff lead with 24 to play at worst. I know you aren't concerned about a collapse, as you shouldn't be. The magic # is now 15 for a playoff spot.
  4. I have a feeling you might see Lou lay into these guys after the game. They really look terrible today.
  5. It's very hard to go 3 straight games without getting an extra base hit, yet here we are. Hopefully they come alive these last two innings.
  6. I know Soriano is a favorite whipping boy of the masses here, but D-Lee has been brutal for months and shows no signs of getting any better.
  7. My goodness they need to get rid of the guest singers. This Palacios sp? was up there with the worst yet.
  8. I have to say that I have come to really like JE. While we are going to need his bat in September, he also brings experience and an attitude that will keep everyone focused. "I've played long enough to understand the game now," Edmonds said. "I understand the situations that come up. I've seen it. I've been part of it. I saw it last year, as far as what happened with the Mets. When I was with Anaheim, we lost an 11-game lead in the middle of August [in 1995]. "There are plenty of reminders out there to keep you humble." But just in case the lessons are not on a computer chip embedded in the Cubs' collective brain, Edmonds said he and Lee likely will offer a few words to teammates about no division lead being safe. "Something will be said," Edmonds said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-080830-cubbie-swagger-chicago-cubs-morrissey,0,4400567.column
  9. August 2007 Z's ERA was over 7 and he had an 0-4 record. As I said, welcome to 2007. I should have just said his last two August performances were bad, which they have been. And just like last year, I'm not worried a bit. Now, if it continues into September, then I'll be concerned. Not sure where all the worry comes from. He's a horse and he always has been. He's slumping but if you have watched Z at all in his career, you know he'll be lights out soon enough. But go ahead and worry. I mean, he's proven throughout his career he is a guy you can't count on.
  10. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle". I wonder if you missed the memo that said in the past four weeks Zambrano has a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP. Or maybe you got that memo but missed the memo that said a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP is indicative of a "struggle." August has never been a good month for him. For more evidence, please see August of 2007. Is he pitching poorly? Sure. Am I worried? Not a bit. Talk to me in September.
  11. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle". Yea, he hasn't been bad recently or anything. Stop trolling. Trolling?? :rotfl: Umm, yea, not like Z hasn't done this in August before. Let me introduce you to last August, 2007. Seriously, get a grip.
  12. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle".
  13. If we go up by 6 games tonight and go, say, 14-15 the rest of the way, the Brewers will need to go 20-9 just to tie us. More realistically, we go 17-12, we win 100 games and the Brewers would need to go 23-6 to tie, or 24-5 to take the division. As I type this, 5-3 Cardinals now. The Brewers are just a dumb team. They keep poking the Tiger and eventually the Tiger will get pissed. They deserve to lose this game. 8-)
  14. The Cubs win and score their only runs score on a grounder and a squeeze play by two subs. This team is REALLLY good.
  15. Derrek making sure none of the infielders feel left out. All he has to do is hit one to 1st his next time up.
  16. http://media1.break.com/dnet/media/2008/2/14feb6-bitter-beer-face.jpg
  17. This game has been a real joke aside from the probable outcome. Wood forgets to cover 1st.
  18. So if we go 21-9 to finish the season, we are guaranteed to make the playoffs. I like it. Considering we are in the middle of a 22-6 stretch, I think its possible to do that. We go 15-15 the rest of the way, we are sitting with 97 wins  . In other words, the Cardinals, Phillies or Mets would have to go 25-5 to tie us. We're going to the playoffs, but I want a division crown and HFA.
  19. Most likely magic numbers after tonight: Playoff spot= 21 Back to back NLC= 26 30 to play. 8-)
