  1. The only thing I will say about this is that he should be at least suspended for a very long time by MLB, but I doubt Selig has the stones to take a stand much like his NFL counterpart has begun to do. What Dukes did is considered a felony offense in California and could get him up to three years in prison for each threat. Plus it counts as a 'strike' for the 3-strikes law (although had he actually just hit her instead of just threatening to kill her it wouldn't be a strike, but that's a discussion for a different day in a different thread!)
  2. because sometimes the other team just hits the ball a little bit better than you do... box score
  3. Not that this explains everything but a friend of mine who has some connections with Ted Lilly said that the Cubs made Ted Lilly's best friend, Cory Miller, the bullpen catcher this year and that Lilly is very comfortable being able to have his closest friend around everyday. Now, what does this have to do with Carlos? Well, the flip side to this is that Carlos is apparently upset at Lilly because he wanted his cousin to be the bullpen catcher and Lou made the choice to go with Lilly's friend instead. Now, I don't know the accuracy of all this, but I trust the person I heard it from so I believe it to be true. Also, I'm not saying that Carlos suddenly can't pitch because his cousin isn't around, but sometimes comfort levels and having familiar faces around can have an impact psychologically and emotionally and we all know Carlos is a very emotional person. Take it for what it's worth...
  4. They are still banking on Prior being that #2, even though they lead us to believe they considered him a #5 or #6 going into the Winter. All Marquis has to do along with Lily is get us 5 or 6 strong innings, we have a strong enough pen to finish it out. Money is probably about right in this market but no way should we have gone 3 years. 2 tops... perferably with the second being an option. However, I think that the Cubs look at it this way... they have Z, Hill, and Lilly and then a competition between Miller, Prior, Marquis, and whatever youngsters are looking good in spring for the final two spots. I also believe that, while they are not counting on Prior, hence 5 other starters, they do beleive that if he comes back healthy he will be no worse than a #2 type starter.
  5. I'm busy right now, but maybe later...
  6. I too have a Prior jersey that I got in 2003, along with a David Carr jersey... I think I need to stop buying jerseys.

  8. ok, now you just need add either Mr. Furley or Mr. Roper as Jim Hendry and you're all set.
  9. Are we voting on stats or conventional wisdom? It would have to be conventional wisdom because we couldn't talk about the stats in here since this is a family website
  10. ok, in thread poll: Neifi w/ pornstache http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/snetsrak43/sex.jpg or: http://www.dantedifranco.com/BeardedWoman2.jpg

  12. Using stats or conventional wisdom? Well clearly Neifi since if you asked every GM they would certainly take 162 games of Neifi over the 120 or so games you would get with Bonds.

  17. Don't know vicarous liability yet, but thin skulled plaintiff I know all about. Some here would say that J.D. Drew would qualify for the thin skulled plaintiff rule, but not sure I would agree. Law school in Clovis? Yep. San Joaquin College of Law. Since I'm well past my college days and now married with children, it's the only option for me. Should have gone straight to law school after college but I wanted to take some time off... I figured that 12 years is enough so here I am! :)
  18. oh yeah? http://evergreenlife.org/uploaded_images/in_your_right_hand-747795.jpg

  22. michael barrett get beaned by cardnals next year and is staggerin round and comes out of game, he asks lou if he can go home, lou say yes, barrett visbily dizzy gets in car and ride home and on way he runs into woman with child. child has hemophillic condition, and she lose so much blood from wreck that she paralzyed from waist down. who is held at fault? Curse you! But if I had to answer I would say that Lou is 100% negligent for letting our 4th best hitter go home when we are playing the Cards and we need his bat in the lineup!
