    Soto

Probably nothing, but any reason for concern about Soto's tosses back to the mound last night? Couple of times they fell short. Not the end of the world with all the other problems, but I don't recall seeing that happen to him before. Who was the catcher a few years back that got to the point he couldn't make the throw to the mound?
  2. I've been a Cub fan for over 20 years, and I'll continue to be a Cub fan for however long I'm on this side of the dirt. If they don't make it this year, they don't make it. I'm not a fan because they're winning, I'm a fan. Win or lose. Do I want to see them go all the way? Absolutely. Will I no longer be a fan if they lose? Absolutely not. The world won't end, the sky won't fall, and the oceans won't run dry. War, hunger, homelessness, and every other real world problem will still exist, no matter the Cubs fate. I'll be thrilled if they win, but I'm certainly not going to stop being a fan or hang my head if they lose. They had a fantastic season. We've got the Rookie of the Year, a contender for the Cy Young, and some guys who had career years. If they don't do it this year, then maybe next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. I'll be there when it happens. And I know I won't be alone. GO CUBS! =D> =D>
  3. I never want a Cubs-White Sox World Series. When the Cubs are in the World Series, I want the Sox as far away from it as possible. I agree 1000 percent. I don't know how much of a chance there'd be of the Sox beating the Red Sox/Angels/Rays, but I'd rather not take the chance.
  4. Do we know for sure that Fontenot will make the playoff roster? I hope so, he certainly deserves it, but I thought I read something somewhere this morning that hinted he wouldn't be on the roster.
  5. I personally would much rather see the Mets win WC. I don't have the intense dislike for them any more. That being said, when the Mets do win the WC, I then fully believe that their dreams would be crushed in just 3 games. The Brewers, on the other hand, I do have a very intense dislike for, and would love to see them wiped off the face of the planet this weekend.
  6. There's no way anybody would be so stupid to assume that it would be okay to schedule both make up games, Cubs/Astros and Cubs/Mets on Monday, is there? A day night double header type of thing?
  7. I was at work, happily following the game via friends and family who called in periodically with updates. Went home after work, my mom was watching the game (back in the wonderful days when WGN broadcast nearly every game), first thing I saw was the legions of Cubs fans sitting, dejected, in the stands. I asked what happened, my mom said "They lost." I said how could they lose, they were up by (however many) runs! She told me what happened and I couldn't believe it. Then later when I watched the tape, I still couldn't believe it.
  8. Just curious - for those of you who've seen him in BP, does Theriot ever hit the ball out of the park? I love him, but I don't know that I've ever seen a major leaguer hit fewer homers, or even hit many deep flyballs.
  9. I thought they said during Sunday's game that the Astros brought their families with them when they left Houston. There was a shot of one of their brothers sitting in their bullpen. And, the wording on the t-shirts is incredibly poor taste. People actually died in the storm.
  10. Don't know how it would work, but I'll make the offer. I have a VHS video of the game, taped off of the Houston FSN broadcast. The tape looks okay to me, can't vouch for the quality on other VCR's (if anyone else even still uses a VCR). Any ideas on how this can be shared? I watched the game live and don't particularly want to keep the tape, thus the offer.
  11. I vote for the Saturday clinch as well. National game, show the world (well, those who don't already know). Sounds like a plan. On the off chance they don't clinch in a game that's being shown nationally (WGN, ESPN, etc.), what are the chances WGN will rebroadcast? Dan Roan said last night that Z's no-hitter will be shown on (I think) Friday night, so any chance for the clincher to be shown? Any ideas? I know WGN would show the after game stuff, but I'd love to see the whole game when it happens (preferably live, but rebroadcast would be fine).
  12. Yeah, I still predict it either friday or Saturday. While I want them to get it done ASAP, I'll take Saturday, please. It's the only game this week that'll be broadcast nationally, thus, the only one I'll get to see. Any way to get WGN to show more games?
  13. Let's just hope Philadelphia sweeps. :beg: :beg: :beg:
  14. Heard the same report. A Double Header on Sunday and 3rd game on Monday. We will know for sure what's going to happen in a little less than an hour supposedly. This is fine, but won't the Cubs have trouble getting into Houston if they stay away until Saturday night. I guess the Cubs would still have to go to Houston tonight and ride out the storm all weekend waiting to play on Sunday. MLB would deliberately put the Cubs in jeopardy by bringing them in to ride out a hurricane? I don't think even Butt Selig is that stupid. And if that is MLB's plan, and I'm the Cubs organization, I'm saying hell no, we won't go.
  15. They could always come to New Orleans and play in the Superdome. Not far from Houston, minimal wind and rain outside from the storm. Enough Astros fans so they could pretend they're home. Tons of Cubs fans. Won't happen, but it's fun to think about. :-))
  16. Per the Sun Times: Lineup vs. Lohse: sori, font (2B), lee, rami, dero (RF), edmnds, soto, cedno (SS), demp Theriot's still sick? That's not good.
  17. I've searched but can't find the answer anywhere. Was it ever revealed how much of Edmonds' salary the Cubs are picking up for this year?
  18. Saturday's game is supposed to be on WGN. Harden's supposed to pitch Saturday? I'll finally get to see him pitch? Finally? Wow. :clapping:
  19. I prefer a non-stressful game where the Cubs take an early lead and never give it up. It's been a while since we had one of those. It would be nice for a change. :beg:
  20. I know this game doesn't count and most of us (myself included) have some sort of problem with it, but is anyone going to be able to do a game report on this board? I'm mostly just curious to see who plays and for how long.
  21. For those of us who are stuck at work and unable to see the game on tv or computer, could one of you lucky people watching the game post a photo of a Cub in the 1948 uniform? I'm dying to see it. I'm taping the game (and hoping the machine works!) so I'll be able to see it tonight, but I want to see now!! Thanks.
