    OPS?

Got it. Couldn't figure that out. Thanks for the quick replies.

    OPS?

BA = Batting Average OBP = On Base Percentage OPS = :?: Thanks.
  3. At least when he did it, he "sang" it really fast, so the pain didn't last quite as long as when some others drag it out forever.
  4. In past years, I've been able to find updated All-Star voting results. I can't seem to find any this year. Do you guys know where the current results can be found? Thanks.
  5. Yes, a trade can be made instead of a demotion. The last one I can remember for the Cubs is when they traded Izturis for a PTBNL and brought up Fox to the major league club at the same time last July. I don't really see any Cub on the current roster getting traded in early May, though. Thanks. I wasn't sure how that worked.
  6. Dumb question - rather than sending someone to Iowa, could a trade be made instead? One of the trades for a player to be named later, or for cash consideration? Or does it have to be a demotion if a player is brought up?
  7. I can't wait until Soriano busts out with a 3 HR game. This guy probably wouldn't post for a few weeks. Of course, in Soriano's 4th AB, he could strikeout and CubsGM will run to his computer and post, "OMG SORIANO SUCKS HE HAS NO PATIENTCE LOLZ!" You say this as if he's unfairly criticizing Soriano. He's been awful all season so far. Complaining is more than justified. I know, but this guy complains about Soriano in just about every post. So the only Cub that can be complained about in every post is Theriot?
  8. He replaced Theriot, Cedeno moved to SS. Why was Theriot replaced? Double switch strategy. That and Cedeno is better than Theriot So the only guy in the Cubs lineup who's gotten a hit today is taken out?
  9. He replaced Theriot, Cedeno moved to SS. Why was Theriot replaced?
  10. The way people on this board rip him, I think he's kicked everyone's dog and slept with a few wives and girlfriends.
  11. And Reed Johnson and Fukudome are each hitting .200 over their last 5 games. Let's bench them, too.
  12. That's going waaaaaaay too far. If he were writhing in pain I wouldn't have said it. But a knick or ding allowing someone else to get in there wouldn't be a bad thing. Because his .357 OBP is really killing this team. Yeah, like that's going to continue. And his defense is hurting the team. And nobody else's defense has ever hurt the team? If I remember correctly, just within the last couple of weeks Cedeno made an error and 3 runs scored afterwards.
  13. I don't understand you people. Nobody's doing anything today. Why's everyone ripping on Theriot? Did he run over somebody's dog or something?
  14. This proves that in addition to folding under pressure, he's an inhumane arse. Now I can root for the Cubs to trade him for another third baseman.
  15. I've been a Cubs fan for over 20 years, and in that time the Cubs have always had the same problem - they play up or down to the level of their competition. 1986 - the Mets pretty much had the division locked by the All-Star Break. Cubs would play them hit for hit, run for run, out for out. On the other hand, we couldn't beat the Pirates, 100 game losers, with a stick. I would so much rather the Cubs be playing the Padres or the Mets this weekend than the Reds.
  16. Alex made an error. A horrible error. Did it cost the Cubs the game? No. And it certainly didn't cost the playoffs. He wasn't the pitcher. If Prior had kept his cool, the Marlins wouldn't have rallied and beat them. And in Game 7, which many people seem to forget is the game that actually lost the playoffs for the Cubs, Kerry Wood sucked. Big time. When someone convinces me that the pitchers would have done better without the error, then maybe I'll concede Alex was the bad guy. Until then, ain't gonna happen. The Cubs as a team lost, not Alex, not Bartman, the Cubs as a team. Period.
  17. There is no one else for that season - it's all Alex, don't you know that? Don't forget - Alex pitched that game, so he obviously gave up all the subsequent runs. He also pitched the next game, so he gave up all those runs, too. He's the sole reason the Cubs didn't make the Series that season. Nobody else had anything to do with it. I wish Alex all the best in the new chapter in his life.
  18. THAT COST US THE G-DAMNED PENNANT THE BUM!!!! GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (takes some deep breaths) I'm ok. Really. I thought losing Game 7 of the playoffs was what cost the pennant. Best of 7 games, right? Not best of 6 games? If they'd won Game 7, wouldn't they have won the pennant?
  19. I read a Nomar quote where he said that the HBP made the back hurt more, but it was already bothering him. I've never been on the Nomar bandwagon, and it seems fairly obvious that this guy's body has become a glass jaw. Has he ever truly been the "every day" shortstop for the Cubs? I certainly wouldn't re-sign him.
  20. PS - Joe, you didn't watch it? You're a HOFer, BEST player in the HISTORY of all things Sport. and you didn't watch it?! I'm sure Jon Miller would have let you have the night off. A break from Super Joe could do us ALL some good. Well of course he didn't "get" to see the speech. He was busy with his "family commitment." And of course he hasn't gotten to see any of it since -- he's been too busy. I'm sure he would love to see the speech, he just hasn't had time. Yeah, right. Buy that, and I've got some swamp land to sell you. Could Morgan BE any stupider?! Arrogant putz.
  21. Thanks so much. I checked out every site *but* the HOF. Duh!
  22. I didn't get to hear the whole speech, but what I heard, I enjoyed. I loved the part about the red light on the camera in the dugout. And his words about his wife, wow. Ya think he likes her a little bit? Does anyone know of any site that's got the entire speech, in print? I'd love to have a printout of it.
  23. Amen. How convenient he has a "family commitment" to keep him away this year. I have to admit, I am glad he's not going to be there. He doesn't deserve to see Ryno's induction.
  24. Gak! Naturally! I don't get ESPN Classic any more. Guess I'll have to be satisfied with whatever coverage "they" decide to show. Thanks, everyone, for the quick responses. They're very much appreciated. You might check MLB radio (their schedule doesn't go that far yet) - they may broadcast it and you can at least hear the audio. I e-mailed HOF. They wrote back advising that the entire ceremony will air live on ESPN Classic, and also on ESPN radio, 1280 AM WODT here in New Orleans. So, like you say, I can at least listen. The HOF also said that there's supposed to be a condensed, one-hour version of the ceremony airing on ESPN2 at 10 p.m. (I guess that's ET). But, when I check the TV listings, there's some sort of racing listed at that time. :( Semi-good news, though, is that there will be a DVD available, with delivery in mid-November, for $28.90, including S&H. The video will feature a behind-the-scenes look at HOF Weekend, with highlights of the ceremony. Highlights will be infinitely better than nothing. Thanks again everyone for the input.
