  1. Am I sure? No. Do I think it would be probable? Yes. They would have a .500 record in the conference and 17 wins overall. That resume would include several wins over ranked (at least at the time) teams and the aforementioned single-digit losses against the top two teams in the country. I strongly feel that SHOULD be enough to get them in. Whether it actually DOES is up to the committee.
  2. It's a beautiful day for a ball game, For a ball game today. The fans are out to get a ticket or two, From Walla Walla, Washington to Kalamazoo. It's a beautiful day for a home run, But even a triple's OK. We're gonna cheer, and boo, and raise a hullaballoo, At the ball game today.
  3. Watch your language. It's been pointed out several times on this board that using a wild card character is considered the same thing as using the word itself.
  4. I signed.
  5. I don't think the PA would have a legitimate grievance (not that it would necessarily stop them from trying). To the best of my knowledge, Soriano's contract doesn't guarantee him playing a specific position. That means it is well within Robinson's rights to assign Soriano to play LF (he doesn't need Soriano's permission to do that). If Soriano refuses he is in breach of contract and the team would be entitled to suspend him, if not outright terminate his contract. I hope the Nats do play hardball on this one.
  6. Super 2 status is based on service time, not performance. It refers to the 17% of players with between two and three years of service time with the most time.
  7. Early died in 1999. In other words, he can cover about as much ground as the others can.
  8. I agree; get to 17 wins and IMO they're a lock (17 wins almost always gets a team from a major conference in, and I see no reason to deny IU a bid if they reach 17). They have righted themselves since the slide (three wins in a row now, including one over a ranked team and one on the road).
  9. The question is, will he play this year?
  10. You have the right to remain cautious. If you give up the right to remain cautious, anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion. :D
  11. I'm fairly sure Lieber had TJS, not labrum surgery.
  12. According to a Yahoo report (crediting the Sun-Times as the source), the Cubs may trade Scott Williamson. Considering that he was picked up from the scrap heap, if he can be traded for some offensive help that would be a pretty good return on the investment. At the same time, however, it would increase the pressure on Eyre and Howry to produce because there would be less wiggle room for one of them to struggle.
  13. Maybe he thought you were realLEE stupid.
  14. I just got my CD today. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
  15. OK, maybe it wouldn't have hurt if I actually looked at the standings before coming up with an example of a "bottom feeder." :D (Although I think there was a time a couple of weeks ago where they were tied for last in the conference.)
  16. In other words, a list of ideal players to pick for Hacking Mass. :D
  17. I've said in the past that I'm in favor of a tape of Harry, and I still do. I think the guest singers is a once-good idea that has run its course and turned into a promotional tool. If they won't get rid of the singers, at least get rid of the interviews while the game is going on.
  18. Dempster better be looking over his shoulder.
  19. I think if it's one of the bottom-feeders (such as Penn State or Minnesota) playing at one of the top teams (such as Illinois), it's a definite win for the top team. Apart from that I agree with you. A team could beat Illinois and lose to Penn State less than a week apart.
  20. And the outcome of the game makes it even funnier. :D That was a HUGE win for IU. They've now won two in a row, including one over a ranked team. Hopefully they stopped the slide in time to still make the NCAA (I think a win or two in the Big Ten tournament would seal the deal).
  21. I think that was true last year, but two years ago it was his achilles tendon that was bothering him when camp started, and I believe his elbow problems started during camp.
  22. Miller was definitely a bust. After his controversial comments before the games I thought he was under the gun to put up, and he didn't.
  23. Maybe stitchface is what leads to scarface.
