  1. I don't know; old used balls may have too much sentimental value for somebody. We probably COULD get an autographed Jose Macias card for Welly, though. :D
  2. Actually, I believe the movie Field of Dreams was based off of W.P. Kinsella's novel Shoeless Joe. It was, but the main character's last name was also Kinsella.
  3. OK, let's cut out the insults. Nobody is obligated to feel sorry for somebody who dies if you don't like what he did in life. However, that's a reason to not say anything, not a reason to disrespect the dead person. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.
  4. I wrote the Hoosiers off too; I thought I saw too many signs of an unending tailspin. I saw them losing three of their last four games (all except Penn State at home) and another NIT appearance.
  5. I remember his no-hitter (I think the Jaxx then got revenge and beat him in the playoffs). He played for my local team (Carolina Mudcats), but I don't recall him pitching in any of the games I went to (a couple of the Jaxx games).
  6. On the other hand, maybe nobody will claim him if we try to send him down after being out of options.
  7. Just like Welly is getting hammered by the A's.
  8. Possibly, but not necessarily. With some major problems (such as heart attacks and strokes) there is a critical period (24-48 hours sticks in my mind) that, if the patient makes it through, has a good chance of recovery. I don't know if that's the case here or not.
  9. This thread reminds me of the final episode of each season of Survivor, where the final three pause at the torch of the previously voted out contestants and reminisce while heading to the final immunity challenge.
  10. When did Trent Green switch to WR?
  11. It means getting :banned:
  12. It was me that posted a sticky the last couple of years, and I plan to again this year once I get my 2006 media guide. As far as Atlanta is concerned, in the past they stayed at the Ritz-Carlton.
  13. I either read or heard (I don't recall which) that White is definitely finished this year and may ask for a medical redshirt. I agree that #10 would be mch better than 8 or 9, which I consider to be the worst possible seedings. Being seeded lower than 9 means having to beat a higher seeded team in the first round, but a more favorable second round matchup if they do. Ideally I'd like to see them climb to #6 and play #3 in the second round, but I think to have ANY chance at that they'd probably need to win the Big Ten tournament, and even then I don't think it's a sure thing (it seems to me that the committee usually gives more weight to the regular season than the conference tournament when seeding teams). So looking at a #7 if they win a game in the conference tournament and a #10 otherwise is probably the most realistic scenerio that would give a decent chance in the second round.
  14. I think the Hoosiers played their way up to a #7 or 8 seed now. Beating a very good team on the road in the last game of the regular season is HUGE. Four wins in a row now, including beating a ranked team at home and winning a very tough road game to end the season. The nightmarish freefall is a distant memory now. Absolute lock for the tournament, no questions asked.
  15. I would have just gone by. There are just too many times where people claiming to need a ride or money are actually thieves who will steal your money or your car.
  16. Actually his worst was 4.80 in 2000 (his comeback year from TJS).
  17. Sounds like somebody in your league needs to have their head examined. :D
  18. Bye Bye Mike Davis reporting for duty.
  19. It's just for a couple of days, and he's scheduled to return to camp on Sunday. Doesn't seem like a real big deal to me.
  20. Thanks for the heads up, I haven't heard anything about him this offseason. So Weeks is worth keeping? I think he is, although it depends who else you might be offered for him. Last year, in his first extensive major league action he only hit .239, but in 360 at bats he had 13 HR, 42 RBI, and 15 SB. Those could translate to some good numbers both in power and stolen bases over the course of an entire season.
  21. I understand that Roberts may not be ready to start the season. I'd say "no deal." http://www.nbc.com/Deal_or_No_Deal/images/hdr_inner.jpg
