  1. And then Pierre picks it up and air mails past the cutoff man, and Bonds winds up with an inside-the-park home run.
  2. Too bad Fassero couldn't have stuck with the Giants through this series and pitched against the Cubs. That may have been our best chance at a win.
  3. At one time the Devil Rays' organization said they plan to penalize Young beyond what the IL does. It will be interesting to see if that happens. I assume the games he's missed while on indefinite suspension count toward the 50 games.
  4. forget laps, make him do pushups. Like Willie Mays Hayes in Major League.
  5. Are you riding the same bus as me? Cause there is no way everyone here will be happy at the same time, other than a WS and even then someone will find fault in it. OK, I'll rephrase. If he wins five of every seven decisions with an ERA of around 3.60, all REASONABLE people will be happy. Better? :D
  6. The official scorer should be beheaded for creating false optimism among Cub fans. :(
  7. I don't get it :( He's lonely because the Cubs batters don't make it to third base. When it's said that a third base coach is lonely, that refers to an inept offense with a lack of base runners.
  8. I reserved Winn and activated Everett because Winn injured his knee and left last night's game; he's day-to-day. Hopefully for the Cubs he'll at least miss the next three games. :D
  9. Not unless Bonds is traded to San Diego. Guzman's next start is Friday, which is the first game of a home series against the Padres.
  10. I disagree. Five great starts and two poor starts is a very good ratio. If he keeps this pace up all year we'll all be happy.
  11. I split the discussion of Cox's ejection from this thread and merged it into the existing thread.
  12. I finally matched my high of four, originally set the first four days of the season. Renteria will give me a new season high tomorrow, since he's guaranteed for at least one hit per game.
  13. Neifi is untouchable. He saved the Cubs. :D
  14. Surprise, surprise. BTW, his Q & A thread is still open; you should have some fun and ask him a question there. I'm thinking about it!! He'll never even know it's me! SSHHH! :? Your secret is safe with me.
  15. No, I'm taking the credit. I picked the Padres for my team today in the new weekly mlb.com Survivor contest. :D
  16. Still nothing reported on cubs.com or ESPN. My guess is that the move isn't official yet (I think they have up until game time to make a move and still take effect), but the Tribune got early word because of the corporate relationship with the Cubs.
  17. I think Bobby Hill could be included in that group as well. Maybe not quite a can't-miss, but he was expected to be a solid starter.
  18. Surprise, surprise. BTW, his Q & A thread is still open; you should have some fun and ask him a question there.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them (Bynum or Restovich) turns out to be "injured" and winds up on the 15-day DL.
  20. Dascenzo would actually be an improvement over what Novoa and Ohman have done this year. :D
  21. They were actually under .500 in early July. The CUBS were 1 game under .500 at the close of business on the 18th, 24th & 26th of July. At the end of August they were 69-66, 3 games over. It all happened in September, when they went 19-8. OK, a bit of revisionist history on my part about when in July they were below .500. :D
  22. Are you Bud Selig? Don't insult NCCub, LCCF. [-X Is it me he's insulting, or Bud? Seriously, Bonds' 715th home run is the equivalent of hitting 61 in a season after Maris' record had been previously broken. I don't remember a big deal about Aaron surpassing whoever held the career record before Ruth held it.
