  1. 1254th place with 460 points. Negative points for Rackers and Gore and zero from the Vikings' defense were my undoing. Losman, Driver, and Chad Johnson were good to me. I didn't see any way to see the group scores either (kind of shoots the purpose of having groups if you can't view group standings; maybe they'll fix that). You can view the group members, but not the scores.
  2. After the humiliating events affecting the Durham Bulls, Tampa Bay's AAA team (Young, Dukes, Upton), the Devil Rays completely cleaned house. They fired Durham's manager, pitching coach, hitting coach, and trainer. What a unique concept: Zero tolerance for nonsense, holding people accountable, and firing en masse if appropriate. The Cubs could learn something by studying this case. :D
  3. I wonder if that's the real Steve Balboni that player for the Royals several years ago.
  4. He'd also get a permanent ticket to Iowa :x And then in the off-season he would have been traded to Florida (along with Marshall or Guzman) for a 32 year old Neifi clone who, because he has some speed and can "catch the ball," Hendry would have billed as the second coming and immediately signed to a 3-year, $15 million contract with a full no-trade clause.
  5. It is actually impossible for the Bears to win this poll now-all they can do is tie with the Cubs having 3 wins in September now. Yep; yesterday's Cubs win took care of that.
  6. me too He's actually helping my fantasy team. My opponent this week has both Hafner and Wilkerson on her team, and she still has both of them in her active lineup even though they're both out for the year. Too bad this matchup is only for 5th & 6th place.
  7. He's the son of former Cubs outfielder Gary Woods. :D
  8. In other words, enjoy it for many years. :D
  9. I hate the Raiders for deactivating Jerry Porter. I had him active on one of my fantasy teams this week to replace Steve Smith. :x
  10. How about the Boise Taters? It could have a double meaning, since Idaho is known for potatoes and the Boise hitters will hopefully hit a bunch of taters next year. :D
  11. You mean you're supposed to actually read the book? Some of my students could learn something from your post.
  12. With St. Louis winning tonight, the Cubs are now mathematically eliminated from the NL Central. A San Diego win coupled with a Cub loss tomorrow will result in elimination from the Wild Card race. Let the champagne flow. :D
  13. Yeah, we need the old Rich Hill from last year and the first time up this year. He'd get with the program. :D
  14. Yes; in fact, that very question was raised today in another thread. I believe it ended around 2004 or so. If the Cubs win the Fecal League they get the first pick. :D
  15. I'd like to see the commissioner's office hire him as an assistant to the commissioner so he can learn the ropes. That way we wouldn't have to wait until $elig retires.
  16. What the heck  We're replacing Gene Clines!! I'm assuming the entire coaching staff will be out the door with Dusty.
  17. Those who can, do; those who can't, teach. If he knows how to be a successful hitter but can't do it himself, he'd make a great hitting coach. We may have found our replacement for Clines. :D
  18. I got an awesome performance from Bush yesterday (complete game, 5-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts). Too bad it didn't count.
  19. Can't you let me have my fun before I drop to last? Yes; I was just pointing out that I was sharing it (except for the NFL contest). :D
  20. The Bears winning the next two games is a given. :D The Cubs could actually win their season finale, since that is on Oct. 1 and therefore technically not included in the scope of the poll.
  21. So far the Cubs have two wins and the Bears one.
  22. Um, everybody that picked a team to win Thursday or Sunday is leading Survival Football (nobody has been eliminated yet), and 4 of the 8 people who picked both weeks (myself included) are tied for the lead in the college pick'em.
  23. http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Billy%20Butler&pos=OF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=456714
  24. Possibly Mateo; he's had some very good starts. He certainly pitched well enough to win today.
