  1. The only time he'd play for you would be the Colts' bye week. I'd simply try to trade him for whatever you think is your greatest need. Perhaps post on the league message board that you're interested in trading him and what you're interested in and see if you get any nibbles.
  2. If the opposition were anybody but Houston I'd probably bench Portis one more week to make sure he's healthy. Since he is playing against Houston, however, I'd consider him a must start at all costs if he's ready to go. I'd get rid of the Lacker.
  3. Memberlist --> Select Sort Method: Total Posts --> Order: Descending Same thing...it starts at 999 and goes down based on the number it starts with rather than total post count. I get the same thing. My guess is that it may be related to the search function being disabled. It's as though the number of posts is being interpreted as text rather than numeric, and it's ordered based on the first digit of the number of posts regardless of how many total digits there are.
  4. Tampa Bay wins tonight, Cubs and Kansas City lose, Pittsburgh still in progress (left coast game). Tampa Bay and Kansas City are now tied; Cubs gain a game on the lead.
  5. I'm sorry we'll be losing the affiliation with West Tenn and the relationship we've worked to build with them. Fortunately I'll still be able to watch them play in Carolina; I'll just have to remember to look for the Tennessee series instead of West Tenn.
  6. Since the Cubs appear to be on the verge of a top 5 draft pick, I thought it would be interesting to look back and see who the Cubs have drafted in the past when in the top 5. Here's a breakdown, by draft position, of Cubs first round draft picks when in the top five positions since the draft started in 1965: #1 overall pick 1982--Shawon Dunston (SS) #2 overall pick 1967--Terry Hughes (SS) 1981--Joe Carter (OF) 2001--Mark Prior (RHP) #3 overall pick 1984--Drew Hall (LHP) 1998--Corey Patterson (OF) 2000--Luis Montanez (IF) #4 overall pick 1975--Brian Rosinski (OF) 1987--Mike Harkey (RHP) 1995--Kerry Wood (RHP) #5 overall pick 1966--Dean Burk (RHP)
  7. Pittsburgh wins and falls a game further back. Everybody else loses and maintains the status quo. Tampa Bay has now lost nine straight; they may be tough to catch.
  8. FYI, current affiliates for the teams still without AA agreements other than the Cubs are: Arizona--Tennessee; San Diego--Mobile; and Seattle--San Antonio. Those therefore would appear to be the possibilities for the Cubs next year if they don't renew the agreement with West Tenn. San Antonio is in the Texas League, where the Cubs several years ago had their AA team in Midland.
  9. That would be awesome! Did you leave a resume for future consideration? Maybe he can replace Bob Brenly if Brenly becomes the new Cubs' manager. :D
  10. Same thing with me at Carolina. Last year the Jaxx played three series there, and I made it to at least one game each series. This year it was a single five-game series and I made it to two of the games. I wonder if the fewer but longer series schedule this year was designed for reducing travel expenses because of gasoline prices. That's the only reason I can think of.
  11. The web site is now set up so you can see the standings for the group. If you click on the group page you can click to see the group standings for an individual week or for the season. I'm not sure they're currently accurate, however, because the point total shown for me for the year on the group page is different than what is shown on my team page. If accurate, I'm currently in first place for the group. \:D/ Regardless of the accuracy of the group standings, compared to everybody I'm now up to #631 out of 6698 with 680 points.
  12. Two games. I'd keep Pennington and Brees, though, and add Rex. My team is too stacked to do that right now. QB Brees QB Pennington RB Rudi RB Edge RB Willie Parker RB D'Angelo Williams RB Jerious Norwood WR Ward WR Glenn WR Muhammed WR Colston TE Gonzalez TE D. Clark (for this coming week) K Need to pick one up for L. Tynes DE Steelers I can't carry a third QB. Ok, well I guess I'll listen to you guys re: Rex. I know he faced the two worst teams in the league, but he's looked extremely extremely good. Just out of curiosity is that Desmond Clark (Bears) or Dallas Clark (Colts)? Both are tight ends. One nice thing about having Rex on the team would be that you'd get double credit for any touchdowns he completes to Muhammad or Clark (if you meant Desmond, that is). This past week I started Rex in one of the leagues I'm in and actually got credit for 6 touchdowns, because I also had Berrian and Clark in my lineup so the touchdowns completed to them counted twice (one for the pass, one for the catch).
  13. That's your opinion, not fact. People are perfectly welcome to talk about it if they want. And I am not stating my opinion as fact, but more like, it's something that is LIKELY to happen. That's probably what you INTENDED to say, but not what you DID say. The wording you used did imply fact, not opinion, since you didn't use wording such as "probable" or "likely." I'm sorry if you read it wrong and the fact I typed too fast to put my whole thought in, instead of half a thought. But I went back and made the correction. It now has an opinion being stated, not fact. Even tho, I believe it is fact that Dunn won't be coming to Chicago, and continuation of this thread will likely stalled with every angle about Dunn will be exhausted. So in other words you think it is a Dunn deal that he won't be coming to the Cubs. :D Like I said, I think it's unlikely, but it can't be completely ruled out.
  14. "The Art of Closing the Deal," by Ryan Dempster.
  15. He tore up his knee trying to impersonate Ozzie Smith and doing a cartwheel.
  16. Bears many points, Vikings few points. :D
  17. Elaborate, or don't post at all. Do not tell others not to post.
  18. It's looking to me like it's shaping up as two battles: Kansas City vs. Tampa Bay for the 1st pick and Pittsburgh vs. the Cubs for 3rd. I'll be happy with holding off Pittsburgh. I see Kansas City regaining the top spot from Tampa Bay, since Kansas City plays against playoff contenders the rest of the way while Tampa Bay has the series against Baltimore.
  19. I'm fine with whatever the consensus is, but my preference would be to count the first two weeks. I joke about having a win stolen from me, but in all honesty I hadn't realized that receiving touchdowns didn't count at first and it didn't affect my strategy any. And I'd hate to lose my league-high point total from this week, which could come in quite handy if it comes down to a tie-breaker for a playoff spot.
  20. I don't think they realize that yet. :( Hopefully the new manager will.
  21. One thing I hate about these changes. It turned my Week 1 win into a loss. :x
  22. I sent a PM to the commish about the issue in case he hasn't seen the discussion here yet.
  23. Rex is the real thing (he might not have four touchdown passes every game, but he's going to do well). Assuming you want Rex as the starter, I'd look at schedules during the Bears' bye week and keep the quarterback that looks to have a more favorable matchup that particular week. Alternatively you could drop a bench player at another position, keep both quarterbacks, and try to trade one of them for added depth at another position.
  24. Here is the scoring system, copied verbatin from Yahoo: Stat Categories: Completions (0.5) Passing Yards (25 yards per point; 6 points at 50 yards) Passing Touchdowns (6) Interceptions (-2) Sacks (-1) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Receptions (1) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (6) Field Goals 50+ Yards (9) Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-9) Field Goals Missed 20-29 Yards (-6) Field Goals Missed 30-39 Yards (-3) Field Goals Missed 40-49 Yards (0) Point After Attempt Made (1) Point After Attempt Missed (-1) Sack (1) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (1) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Return Yards (10 yards per point) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6) Points Allowed 0 points (9) Points Allowed 1-6 points (7) Points Allowed 7-13 points (5) Points Allowed 14-20 points (3) Points Allowed 21-27 points (1) I now believe as well that receiving touchdowns aren't included. A second look at this makes me think that what I earlier thought counted is actually defensive touchdowns (e.g. fumble or interception returned for a touchdown). Rushing touchdowns are specifically mentioned, but not receiving touchdowns. I agree that needs to be changed. One could actually get double credit by owning the quarterback and receiver from the same NFL team, but that's just how it is. It isn't fair, for example, if Peyton Manning passes for a touchdown to Marvin Harrison, for Manning's owner to get points but not Harrison's.
  25. Which of his three "only" starts was that? :D Lance Dickson
