  1. But you can't tell him what he can or can't bring up. Just because you believe something is irrelevant doesn't mean others can't mention it. And especially don't go telling a moderator what he can and can't bring up. That won't help your life expectancy on this board any.
  2. It's one less than currently reflected in Roast's signature. :D
  3. It was definitely worth it. The ending was painful, but we got to experience the Cubs' first division title since 1989 and the first postseason win since 1908. Give me a playoff series loss over not making the playoffs any day.
  4. Even the bases are on steroids now.
  5. So should have the 2004 Cubs.
  6. Actually it would be 7 games if the Cubs take 3 of 4 and 9 games if the Cubs sweep.
  7. That would be tough, since Cherry is now with Baltimore (re: Trachsel trade). D'oh. The Cubs do have a habit of reacquiring players, though, so he could return.
  8. Maybe Roquet and Cherry can be in the Cubs' bullpen together some day. They might be the first team to have two Rockys in the pen at the same time. :D
  9. You must realize it, because you keep telling us.
  10. Solution: show good taste and become a Bears fan. :D
  11. Um, Lou, there's a reason he didn't throw many pitches Sunday.
  12. This is a current chicagosports.com poll. It seems timely since it relates to a current discussion on this board.
  13. Pass on leaving Trachsel in and Marshall out.
  14. Actually it's the Tournament of Roses Parade, unless they officially changed the name within the past few years.
  15.   yes please You might get what you need and want but what about the poor Tiger fans who seemed to be getting popped on for some reason? That seems like a sweet job and it just makes me wonder why people leave there so soon. (If these rumors are true) Bad luck is all. Saban is a douche and Michigan is the best job in the country outside of SC. Hmm, maybe so. Best jobs in college football, yeah Michigan is in the top 5 no doubt about that. I'd put Texas, OSU, ND and Florida in there too. I'm curious where you'd rank the PSU job. It hasnt' been available in 40+ years, so it's tough to gauge. Will top coaches be clamoring for it when JoePa finally retires? I sure as heck wouldn't want that job after he leaves. The mans an icon. Replacing a legend is hard. Usually the immediate successor isn't that successful. It would be like replacing Bear Bryant at Alabama, or in basketball replacing John Wooden at UCLA, Dean Smith at North Carolina, etc.
  16. Conversely the worst on the Cubs' staff is Zambrano's 4.26 (I'm considering Marshall and not Trachsel as part of the staff because that's how it's been most of the year). A difference of only 0.41 from top to bottom. That may be one of the most balanced in history.
  17. Paul Sullivan??? :-k Actually it was a Sullivan article from chicagosports.com that inspired that reference. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070909cubsgamer,1,665938.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  18. Or let him be the next player to be traded to Baltimore. They seem to be the Cubs' current trading partners.
  19. I think it depends on how you define "ace." If it means the pitcher who is the best during the current season then it would be Lilly. If it means the pitcher who has the ability to be the best then it would be Zambrano. Since you win or lose based on performance rather than ability I'll go with Lilly for now.
  20. I went from worst to not worst. :D
  21. Daryl Strawberry too.
  22. They need to work on struggling against southpaws in the minors so they'll be prepared to do that in the majors. :D
  23. Trachsel is MacPhail's revenge on the Cubs.
  24. Congratulations Tim! Didn't think you'd beat out the Raw Dawgs this year. Congratulations to all the playoff teams too and thanks to everyone else on another good year. I wouldn't have beat out Raw if I hadn't sold off a bunch of my prime minor league assets to acquire Webb, Ordonez & Halladay prior to the deadline. I was well behind before I made those trades. I just hope the prime minor leaguers you traded for Webb work out better than prime minor leaguers you've traded me in the past (e.g. Floyd, McPherson). :D
  25. I wonder if Wilken would jump over if the Pirates take the Jays guy? I certainly hope not, but with the uncertainty surrounding the Cubs' ownership I could see him wanting job certainty rather than risking the possibility of the new owner cleaning house. I also wonder if MacPhail might see an opportunity to raid the Cubs' front office.
