  1. [expletive] Yep, it actually works.
  2. Less than 12 hours until Ball State-Navy. Cubs will be taking second place with me tonight. I'll check in during commercial breaks and halftime of the BSU game.
  3. My lead over TBA keeps growing. I think it will hold up. \:D/
  4. No it isn't. It's still very premature to panic.
  5. A final reminder. With the early game this week (Thursday night) anybody interested in Survival Football needs to sign up and submit their first week pick before kickoff.
  6. There's absolutely no question that it's possible. Likely, that's another story.
  7. Hell yes. Carlos will still only be 28 at the start of the 2010 season; he'll have plenty of good baseball left.
  8. Rain was definitely Daytona's friend, wiping out Palm Beach's lead yesterday and giving the D-Cubs a do-over.
  9. TBA should be made a full league member next year. I like my chances against TBA. :D
  10. Right turn, Clyde.
  11. Disagree Disagree with your disagreeing.
  12. I'm surprised Navin D hasn't chimed in. :D
  13. Actually that would be a good thing. How something affects the Cubs is infinitely more important than how it affects your fantasy team. whether sheets starts doesn't have any effect on the cubs. It makes it more likely that the Brewers will lose if he doesn't start. That shouldn't affect the Cubs if they take care of business, but it conceivably could. not really. the cubs don't even have to pay attention to the brewers. the only team that matters is the team behind the brewers in the WC race. If you're just talking about making the playoffs you're right. If you're talking about having home field advantage in the playoffs (which I am) you're wrong. I'd happily sacrifice your fantasy playoff results to get home field advantage for the Cubs. :D

  16. If by "40" you mean 36 you'd be right. Die Hard has actually only played in the majors three previous seasons: 1998 with the (then) Devil Rays, 2005 with the Cubs, and last year with the Giants. His total major league action before this year is 45 at-bats in 30 games.
  17. I assume you mean 60 day DL? Putting him on the 15 day does nothing. cubs.com has it as 15 day. Isn't that 41 guys on the 40 man? Or I can't count. Why bother putting Rich on the DL? It's not 41 on the 40-man roster, because Hill was already on the 40-man roster. Putting him on the major league 15-day DL now may just be preliminary to transferring him to the 60-day later if they need more postseason roster flexibility.
  18. Not strange at all. Hill = catcher; Castillo = catcher; Fox = not catcher.
  19. Yeah, but he's had an upgrade in jobs since then. Since Masur has been doing games for San Diego as part of the booth for 2 years now, he's eligible. He probably wouldn't have been eligible the years he was in Chicago for the work he was doing..at least that's my guess. If you click on his bio on the ballot it looks like his time in Chicago does count (perhaps because he did some fill-in broadcasting). He's credited with 10 years total, 8 in Chicago and 2 in San Diego. Mu guess is that 10 years is the minimum to qualify for the award.
  20. I'm guessing that everybody who qualifies is listed. I'm not sure what the qualifications are, but it's probably related to how long someone has been broadcasting.
  21. For the 2007 and 2008 Cubs ND means No Dusty.
  22. Fan voting for the Ford Frick Award (broadcaster) begins today. Fans can vote once per day and vote for up to three broadcasters. The top three choices in the fan voting will be included on the final ballot for the award. Many broadcasters on the ballot with Cubs ties. My votes are for Vince Lloyd, Pat Hughes, and Jack Quinlan (I never heard him because he died before I started following baseball, but everythiing I read about him indicates he was one of the best). Voting concludes Sept. 30; results to be announced Oct. 6. Information Ballot
  23. It could also stand for neutral density (a common camera filter). For me it was Notre Dame.
  24. It's Made to order embarrassment for that player. :D
