    Registration for fantasy football is now open on Yahoo. Is there a desire to continue this league? If so, I'll renew the league and invite back those who were active last year and see how many openings for new managers there may be.

    I like Jackson. He was once one of the top prospects in baseball and, although he appeared to be a big bust, he finally started putting it together last year. Since he pitched well last year I have more confidence in him than I would if he just started pitching good this year.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we need Alex Wilson's permission to draft him again? Correct. However, the Cubs have re-drafted a number of players, including Andrew Cashner last year. It's part of their M.O., especially in recent drafts. You see it happen every now and again. Sam Fuld is another recent example, as is Michael Brenly.

    I went to the Tennessee-Carolina game. Not much to be excited about. The Smokies got smoked 9-2 and they committed the same number of errors (5, including 2 by Barney) as they had base hits. They did get a pinch hit HR from Mota (his first of the year) after the game was out of reach and, by doing so, raised his BA to a whopping .183. Colvin doesn't even have his name sewn on the back of his uniform yet.

    I refuse to vote just for this reason. It would be comparable to creating a poll asking who the best baseball player of all time is, and leaving Babe Ruth off the list. For those of you that are not familiar with In n Out, that's all they do. When you get there, there is no need to stare at the menu for 15 minutes wondering what to order. They make a hamburger or a cheeseburger. That's it. The waiting lines to get through the drive through are always 10+ cars deep, whereas many other places you can zip right through with no wait. If you want a chicken sandwich, go somewhere else. You won't get one at In n Out. In n Out, the Babe Ruth of burgers. Same at 5 Guys. Despite my recently-acquired love for Five Guys, I'm obligated to point out that they also serve hot dogs at many locations, as well as grilled cheese and veggie sandwiches. I'd never eat one myself (well, maybe a grilled cheese), but they do have other things besides burgers. That's true for the Five Guys close to me. They have everything you mentioned.

    I thought hiding these Rule 5 guys on the DL was illegal? Is it after a certain date that it becomes OK? It's not illegal, but if he doesn't stay on the active roster for long enough this year he'll have to do it next year before he can have the Rule 5 restrictions taken off of him. Specifically, I believe it's 90 days that a player needs to be on the active roster. He has about 60 so far, so he'd need to spend about another month on the active roster at some point this season. Similarly, the Cubs could stash Patton on the DL for much of the rest of the year and keep him as long as he spends 90 days on the active roster.

    You mean Rnez (no O, no D). :D LOL, that's good. That actually was a common nickname for him on this board when he was a Cub.

    They were really debating that issue during the telecast. I see it as being similar to a DL assignment, where a player can be sent to the minors on a rehabilitation assignment before the 15 days is up. This seems similar to me except that it's 50 days, not 15. I don't see that allowing a suspended player to play MINOR league baseball violates the spirit of a MAJOR league suspension.

    Harang cost me a win this week. If he had two good outings instead of two stinkers I could have won. :( At least I have Volquez coming back from the DL tomorrow.

    Did Andres Blanco kick your dog or something? We get it. You don't like Andres Blanco. The horse is dead already replace kick with sucks, replace your with at, replace dog with baseball and you've got your answer. Hendry has made his share of bad moves. Bringing up Blanco when they had nobody else able to back up Theriot isn't one of them. Not even close. Don't let common sense get in the way of a silly grudge. Silly me; I should know better than that. :D

    Reds fans did it in the 1950s. After that the fans lost the right to vote for many years (until the early 70s).

    Once upon a time I believe it was recognized as a perfect game, because Shore retired 27 men in a row. But several years ago the rules for no-hitters were revised, and some previously recognized no-hitters got thrown out (such as Harvey Haddix pitching a perfect game for 9 innings and the Cubs' Hippo Vaughn pitching a no-hitter for 9 innings against Fred Toney, who pitched a legitimate no-hitter in the very same game). Ruth and Shore are still credited with a combined no-hitter since the only baserunner was a walk.
