  1. HELL YES! HIGH SCORE OF THE WEEK! \:D/ This is only the second time in my 4 1/2 years in the league that I've had the high score, so I'm sure as hell gonna boast about it. :D
  2. We said 4 starts. That makes sense to me, because 4 starts in a 4-day week is equivalent (average of 1 per day) to 7 in a full week.
  3. - BA's Twitter - Jonathan Mayo's Twitter Apparently they still hope to get the game in. If they can't I wonder if they could play it tomorrow afternoon, since the Home Run Derby isn't until the evening. It would be grossly unfair to the players to outright cancel the game.
  4. This is the single dumbest thing i've read on here I'm guessing you've never read one of your posts. Maybe he has himself on ignore. :D
  5. In the category of good non-moves, I avoided the temptation of starting Lohse against the Cubs' offense. Starting Happ against the Pirates (as opposed to a real major league team) turned out to be the stronger temptation.
  6. One thing I like better about Yahoo is that player moves don't actually affect the roster until the day after the move is processed. If that system were available on CBS it would be possible to process waiver claims on Sunday, as we currently do, but they wouldn't affect the roster until Monday. I think that would solve the problem, because you'd have plenty of time to set your lineup for the new week without messing you up in the old week.
  7. They WOULD have a backup in this situation, though. Hill.
  8. If a trade can't be arranged by the end of the All-Star break I think it's a 100% certainty that a catcher will be called up. I think they might be waiting because neither of the catchers currently active for Iowa (Clevenger and Robinson) have used any options yet, and they might not want to burn an option for a player who might only be up for 2 days.
  9. I hope the water cooler is up for another beating. Zambrano will not be happy with Fox's passed balls.
  10. I merged the threads on this topic.
  11. Crapps is doing his best to make sure you don't win.
  12. With the correction I'm back in the running for high score of the week. I still have two more starts: Washburn today and either Happ or Lohse tomorrow. I feel very tempted to use Lohse against the Cubs' offense despite being his first game off the DL.
  13. I'm sure Big Z would welcome him back with open arms. Or maybe closed fists.
  14. CBS is wrong. A perfect game means 27 up, 27 down, NO baserunners (even on an error on somebody other than the pitcher). I suspect they'll correct it.
  15. Against the Padres. 11 strikeouts and no walks. He had a perfect game until the 8th, broken up by an error. That was the only base runner he allowed.
  16. I remember when Hollins was being hyped as a possible future closer. That didn't exactly pan out.
  17. Stevens is already on the 40-man roster and has used an option for this year. Parker is not. That could be a factor in the decision.
  18. I still think Raw could have done better. You still have 2 games to make up on 3rd place, and I'll be interested to see how that shakes out. Ain't gonna happen.
  19. I suspect he WAS sleeping. Permanently.
  20. I hope this doesnt take them out of the Halladay hunt making the Cardinals the top candidate. Given the bolded statement, it's definitely premature to pass it off as fact. I edited the thread title to include a question mark until such time as it is confirmed.
  21. It could get thin if Dempster is out longer than expected and Harden's health remains questionable.
  22. Agreed. With the All-Star break coming up they wouldn't need Hart for another start before then anyway. The extra bullpen arm could come in handy with Harden starting tomorrow and the double-header on Sunday.
  23. Apparently. Fox starting at catcher is not an option under any circumstances whatsoever. Unless they make a move and call up a catcher by then come Hell or high water. Personally, if he's going to miss the rest of this week anyway I think they should put him on the DL and call up a catcher. Since he hasn't played since Monday they could backdate it to Tuesday. That means he will have already missed 9 of the minimum 15 days by the end of the All-Star break and he'd have less than a week after the end of the break before he'd be eligible to return. The timing actually isn't bad if this had to happen.
  24. Because he hates you for being a Cubs fan.
  25. The Braves are apparently offering up Vazquez for an "impact bat." With Tim Hudson set to return soon they have decent SP depth, but little offense and Vazquez is a good trading chip. Counting on injured guys always seems to dicey to me. But I guess you have to take risks. It's especially risky to count on a pitcher coming back from TJS to be effective this year. Many pitchers struggle for the first half season back or so, then put it back together (Kerry Wood in 2000 and Francisco Liriano last year are a couple of examples). I think the Braves would be more justified counting on meaningful contribution from Hudson next year rather than this year.
