The new owner can save money by firing Hendry and hiring NSBB as the new GM. I'm sure we'd be willing to do the job for less than Hendry is being paid. :D -

One of the leagues I'm in is a Yahoo league with weekly lineup changes. One of my starting outfielders had been Aaron Rowand, who hasn't been starting the past several games due to injury (and who has been slumping anyway). So I pick up a free agent to replace Rowand in my lineup for this week.

I'm rooting for you because that would restore my three game lead over Adam (assuming I take care of business and win my own game).

I still think there could be some middle ground, allowing him into the Hall while still banning him from any future involvement in baseball. And, as at least one other poster has mentioned, if Rose is allowed in then Joe Jackson MUST as well, and I don't consider that debatable. Having said that, until they wake up and induct Ron Santo the Hall is dead to me anyway.

Berg is already on the 40 man roster so he has already used his option for this year. If Parker had been put on the 40 man roster, he would have used his first option when he was sent down in two weeks. If they wait until September or later to add him, he'll still have all 3 options next year. I expect he'll be sent back down in 4 days, not 2 weeks. He'll probably go back down when Dempster is activated on Wednesday. If he is given a chance and impresses, any chance theyd send down Shark instead to work as a starter? I think that would be another option. Not much time left for Berg to impress, though; just one more game to be played before the roster decision needs to be made.

He's pitched surprisingly well when the Cubs needed a lift due to the injuries to Dempster and now Lilly. It would be nice if his walks and WHIP were a bit lower, but he's given more than I think most of us expected from him. He was certainly worth Freddie Bynum.

Makes sense. The article I saw mentioning Wednesday was before everyone was moved up a day because of Lilly's injury.

I think Gregg's poor start was at least partially because he wasn't fully recovered from last year's knee surgery. I remember early in the year he said his knee locked up if he sat down without entering a game after warming up or if he went out for a second inning.

I only heard the radio call of this years later, so I don't know how it stacks up against Wise, but Moose Moryn had a spectacular catch to save Don Cardwell's no-no for the Cubs in the early 60s. -
I have Buehrle in another league. Unfortunately that league is based on categories, not points, so there's no bonus for no-hitters and perfect games.

If we upgraded the rotation by adding Halladay we'd lose games 2-1 that we'd otherwise lose 4-1.
