Wow, I can't believe they didn't wait until after the Future's Game. Good for Szczur's playing time though I would think. I made a similar comment in the thread in Transactions. Later I read that he played in last year's Futures Game. He might actually prefer a taste of the major leagues rather than playing in another Futures Game. I read some speculation that he might be sent back down at the All-Star break if Bourjos doesn't need to go on the DL.

Kerry retiring doesn't really change things, I don't think. I doubt he was expected back anyway. From the sound of it, they're still considering veterans like Hasselbeck, Pennington and others so that they don't have to start Locker right away. even if your sarcasm detector is completely broken, it's safe to assume that an NSBB moderator is not going to be a meatball who thinks that aramis is lazy and zambrano is one of those fiery latins. That's sarcasm, right? I know Tim is about as Pro-Cub as I am but I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't hold that kind of standard to be a moderator. "I'm sorry, you think Ramirez is lazy? You're fired." Regardless, I would have had to have opened Laura's profile to even know that she is a moderator. I don't even open my own profile. Hey, maybe I'm a mod! The Rays placed Wade Davis on the DL today, so I picked up Kevin Correia. I won't start him this week (even though it's awful tempting to use him against the Cubs' "offense") since Davis wasn't scheduled for another start this week. I moved Jason Castro to my minor league roster (he still has eligibility and I had an open spot) to clear room on my DL.

Of all people too ;-). Its like the Cubs getting that from Doug Davis. I've still got two starts from Verlander to help out. GO NC! With the way my week is going, Go Adam! I have to root for him too. The higher he finishes, the better the second round pick I acquired from him is.

Of all people too ;-). Its like the Cubs getting that from Doug Davis. I've still got two starts from Verlander to help out. GO NC! Sanches is helping me out. Luckily Verlander got 29 points prior to being ejected. Apparently he was being taken out anyway and got ejected for arguing with the umpire as he was leaving.

That seems like a tough claim to make given how many people think a deal is pretty close. The NFL Network reported last Friday that major progress had been made (just one day after reports that talks nearly broke down), so I think you're right that many people already think a deal is near.

Top score of the week so far, thanks to Duensing's complete game shutout. I lead my game despite having one fewer pitching start. However, I was in that same situation early last week and still managed to lose.

I don't think they're finalized yet. I've seen articles the last couple days about players saying they'd be willing to participate if asked (current Cub Carlos Pena and former Cub Josh Hamilton were mentioned specifically).

Pujols could return as early as tomorrow. That's the first day he's eligible to return from the DL. -
