  1. yea, it was an incredibly tragic event but also I'm not convinced in any way Carter's fault. They were kids out being dumb kids his pro-day was concerning however
  2. We said this last offseason at the same point, then be went DB-DB-KR early in the draft. The way he has absolutely torched the lines on both sides of the ball is concerning He kind of did the same horsefeathers in FA, has a horsefeathers of money to spend, there's fairly good OL and DL options available and what does he do? LB-LB right out of the gate, where are the linemen going to come from, out of thin air, Amazon Prime? Alibaba
  3. I don't see Skoronski as a fit. Short arms, and I think he's a guard, which seemingly is covered by Davis, Jenkins, Whitehair, and Carter all being on the roster still. Jenkins could move back to OT, but he doesn't have ideal length either. I hope they add someone. Even if it's just a placeholder on a 1-year deal. Cam Fleming seems like the safest bet out there. But Taylor Lewan and Donovan Smith are interesting options in that they were once really good LTs until injuries and age set in (Smith isn't quite 30 yet but has a lot a mileage). Maybe you can get a Jason Peters season out of 1 of them, which is possible since they are 10 years younger. LOL. But those type of moves wouldn't force you into OT at 9. And I personally, think I'd rather have one of the 2nd round guys (Jaelyn Duncan, Matthew Bergeron, Wanya Morris-3rd/4th) than Johnson at 9. Trade back, and I feel more comfortable with one of the 1st tier guys. Anton Harrison is my guy, OT2 for me with Paris only ahead because of star upside and Darnell Wright is my OT3, who showed at the combine he's athletic enough for this scheme and college showed an amazing anchor against top tier talent. idk about Paris Johnson, he grades higher in run blocking than pass blocking. I wouldnt draft him above Skoronski. Broderick Jones and Anton Harrison (btw, Anton is one of my all-time fav underutilized names - it was my great great grandfather's name, and if we had a boy I would have named my son that name) both ran sub 5 sec 40's. If you want arm length, pass grades, and speed, those are the two to focus on
  4. I know nothing about this guy, what's to like?
  5. i probably would too, but word is he tanked his pro day today BADLY. looked really out of shape. Really? Damn
  6. I really suspect we're going to go DL with the 9th pick and I will be a floor boner about it. My best guess is that they will go Edge if Wilson or Murphy are available. If they aren't they trade down a few slots (would be very helpful if Levis is still around) and take one of the tackles. If Carter is at 9, I'd take him. DE is deep and you could prolly get some value in rd 2 But poles very clearly is making his own path so who knows
  7. This is why I'm not sold on Herbert. He can run, but he can't block and I think the jury is still out on his receiving abilities
  8. I don’t know why it would feel like that, but luxuries are enjoyable when you possess them. If you have a QB and some WR talent, an elite RB can be a great topping to the skill position group for a nice 5 year stretch. Yea, I look at the Rams team when they had gazelles at WR and Faulk. I realize it was a very different offensive scheme, but they were nearly impossible to defend and Faulk was a big component
  9. Running the ball in todays nfl is a lot different than the old school 3yrds and a cloud of dust. That being said, how many elite pass graded OL actually hit the market? I'd bet not many, and that's why we are signing the guys we are signing. Eventually Poles is going to have to draft someone who is. That very well may be at #9
  10. When he was with Baltimore, his 1st 2 seasons he was a pro bowler at RT which could mask his lack of agility better than at LT. He was one of the best at RT which suits his strengths better than LT. Outdated thinking. Wirfs, Lane Johnson, Sewell, and Ramczyk are top 10 overall OTs and play right side. Guys like Watt, Nick Bosa, Reddick rush exclusively from the left side of the D. This is a fair point, you want your best on their best, regardless of sides. I also disagree with Kyle's idea of muscle memory, not because it doesn't exist, but because it's not something an athlete can't overcome. For years RT was thought of being maulers not fleet-footed ballerinas. So, for decades RT was a position that was thought to be more of a power blocker. But if teams are storming the right side, a mauler won't do: you need the ballerina. It used to be the opposite because left tackle protected the QBs blind side as most QBs are right handed- hence h the QB won't see it coming. The thinking now is pressure is pressure and the weaker side has been the RT side, so put your best pass rusher on that side.
  11. Nooooooow were into the "some random twitter guy" part of FA
  12. Do you mean eye teets? Cuz those would be extraordinary
  13. If I had to guess Jenkins will slide over to RT I'm very skeptical that's the plan. I'd put money on him cut/traded over being starting day RT. When were the last disparaging words from Poles towards him? I thought that was last offseason, and ended with Poles congratulating him and essentially telling him he was proud of how he handled the challenge? Was there something after that?
  14. Well there are two guards on every OL so unless you think Davis and Jenkins can only play RG and not LG I don't really see the issue here. presumably you aren’t signing a guy to that money and then asking him to change positions. So it looks like Jenkins has to move again after they spent last offseason jerking him around. It seems to me that Poles doesn’t like Jenkins’ attitude. There were vague comments about toughness around him. Maybe they’ve worked through it and see him as moving to the outside. Maybe he’ll go to LG or maybe he’s a prime candidate for being let go. Either way, I don’t think Jenkins is a long term piece in Poles’ mind, yet. If I had to guess Jenkins will slide over to RT
  15. SI loves Poles decisions and attempts to explain the LB signings https://apple.news/ArQxxs6z5T3OeTX0iAnhJZA
  16. Luckily, they still need all kinds of help so picking BPA is still in play!
  17. I don't think Poles is trying to internally develop what they have on the O-line, I think he got punked by the market and lost on FAs because he was unable to react fast enough to it. Call it sticker shock. And Poles is already being defined by his uninspiring FA periods, both last year and this year. Fields not developing would be 50% JF, and 50% Poles inability to support him should JF fail in the future, imo
  18. I know this is a Bears thread, but anyone else feel like the Bills are about to take a step back? I kinda wonder if the Bills/Allen are gonna become this era's Chargers/Rivers, with the Chiefs and Bengals playing the part of Pats/Brady and Colts/Manning. Feels like maybe an overreaction to a couple very close playoff games, but Allen may be a little more mistake prone(plus his running increases injury risk) and his division looks a bit tougher going forward too. Your missing the Steelers and Broncos or Ravens. in that analogy. Bills could easily end up the latter
  19. Is he a Edge in Eberflus defense? He's the Brian Urlacher Sorry, I was being more sarcastic than literal. I don't get all the LBs and no DL IN FA so far
  20. Hey, if you can't spend on lineman, set the LB market.....I guess
  21. Seems like a Poles-type, lighter guard, 313 lbs
  22. 3/18 is what he got. Is poles aware he has money? Yeah, incredibly reasonable deal. horsefeathers I wanted poles to sign him
