  1. this sounds like a Jacobean/Dominican trade proposal...... pray to god..and repent!!!!
  2. If he bunts, walks (Tim I believe thought [and correctly over the long term] that CPAT's walks would increase) gets that kind of production I'll play him in the 8 hole 145+ games next year. 21 hr???????????? I'd take that with Tejeda..those are Burnitz-like #'s
  3. He was hanging out with Glenallen Hill and Mel Rojas in the "Most ridiclous ways to injury oneself" club. With Clint Barmes as the president. Don't forget Chris Brown: http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/brownch02.shtml I believe he once sat out a game due to a "strained eyelash." Here's my favorite: I don't remember who it was, but someone (not a Cub) missed a game because he put in his contacts after eating nachos with jalapenos. #-o That's gotta hurt. I do that for fun..........
  4. I thought Wrigley was on the NROHP(National Register of Historic Places), or at least Wrigleyville? if that is so, there is no way they would let them do more then 50% remodel at once....a good portion of the building must remain as was.... I agree with your thoughts though, soul, sometimes saving something is more detrimental to what it once was, the value comes in the fact that current and future visitors can have connections in there on realm. IE, sometimes buildings, materials loose their meaning for the old generation, but suddenly find themselves re-connected witha new generation, and sometimes for intirely new reasons......and for me, that in of it self is enough value..... btw, Wrigely is listed: http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/IL/Cook/state10.html
  5. this is what I think I was thinking when my b-i-l was telling me this...I couldnt quite put it into words, or to this detail interesting........
  6. MLB.com I just want to go on record and say that I literally laughed out loud when I read that. I don't see anything funny about that. :x You've been given too much material to laugh at in the past month or so, anyways. past MONTH!!?? try YEARS...
  7. Your question basically answers itself - you can't put that many "ifs" and assumptions into a question and not have the answer be luck. It's putting all your eggs in one basket and you have a team which could very easily end up in last place just as easily end up in first. I want a team that both on paper and on the field is above average and gets themselves into a situation where they can contend every year. Yeah, I agree with you. I was just responding to the posts about KW doing a great job last year simply based on the fact that they won the WS. No flaming please I don't care if it's luck or skill. I wont care about the number of seemingly stupid moves Hendry makes this offseason if the Cubs win the WS. It wouldn't matter he will look like a genius (and so does Williams). The Sox might be garbage in a few years because of some of his risky moves but it wont hurt nearly as much (from a fans perspective) because they have already won and are primed to repeat. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  8. didnt know I was a GM.... :D (my initials are JW, I think you mean KW...)
  9. I agree with you on a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. The White Sox have put themselves in a wonderful position. They have given the team a name. They have won the hearts of many Chicagoans. They are in a position to double, triple and possibly quadruple season ticket sales. Trading for a guy like Miggy would do that, IMO. It does somewhat mortgage the future in regards to McCarthy being included in a deal for Miggy, but the team is definitely built to win NOW. When Thome's skills have declined to a point he is no longer contributing, and the team is no longer in a position to be competitive, then they can trade Miggy to a team that will give up their "McCarthy" for him. That might only be a year or two down the road. They just won a World Series. They don't have to be conservative. They've made the moves this offseason that put them in a position to possibly win again this coming year. Tejada just puts them one step closer. I'd make that deal. I totally agree BBB... the thing is, there is alot of $$$ to be made in Chicago. If the Cubs continue to falter, and lose, the Sox could start to errode at the Cubs fan base. I see KW and Co. going for the juggler here. Hit the Chicago baseball scene where it hurts. This is especially bad for the cubs, becuase now they will have to WAY overpay for Tejada. 1) to GET him 2) to keep the Sox from taking him
  10. Trading Patterson for Finley would be the most pathetic thing the franchise has done in years. That is terrible. I can actually see Hendry do something so stupid just because Finley is a veteran and a lefty. He's damn old and his numbers regressed so bad he should think about retiring. BUT HEY, IF THE CARDS CAN GET LUCKY WITH A PROVEN WASHED-UP VETERN PLAYER FROM S. CALI WHY CANT WE? ANSWERS HENDRY :wall:
  11. why can't walker hold the position until Patterson is ready? If he is ever ready. dont know...just trying to put my head into the thoughts of a crazy man....
  12. could it be that bruce believes the Cubs want Neifi at 2nd to hold the place until Patterson is ready? this would release Pierre as well, when E Patt arrives and becomes leadoff seems like a possibility, but a gamble
  13. Watching TBS will do that.... it also leaves you in contemp when you see what REAL baseball looks like..and you start to wonder why it doesnt look the smae at Wrigley
  14. Urbina goes mad http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2256632
  15. pie on roids maybe I dont see that kid hitting 25+ hrs.....
  16. like who? what I hear, mostly, is how wonderful Leo is...my b-i-l kinda stunned me with his response....
  17. I was recently talking to my brother-in-law who happens to have abit of insight into the world of LEo Mazzone. It wasnt what I expected. We are both huge baseball fans, and when I mentioned the idea of a great pitching coach being Leo, he responded with "there are those who dont think much of him at all..." I am not sure of my brother-in-laws connection wtih him, but he has conversations with Russ Ortiz from time to time. My b-i-l at one time coached high school baseball in S. Cali, and knows several current coaches there. what he was saying was something to the effect that Ortiz never cared for Mazzone, and felt he was vastly over-rated as far as a pitching caoch is concerned.... has anyone else every heard of this rift?
  18. off topic: your sig cracked me up I miss Harry
  19. that might be an issue if Rondell had Perez's bat, but he doesnt. White is a good hitter when healthy...we NEED bats
  20. o my god all this Tejeda talk is giving me a turtle head too much excitement!!!!!!!!!.......................
  21. I dont see top 10 for us until we find a legit RF
