  1. with their left-handed bullpen issues this season, its a wonder it took so long for him to get here. Wick, Wieck, Hultzen seem like a solid foundation to build the pen for next year. Does Hultzen ever get back into the rotation?
  2. I googled; 4-6 weeks. I'm no expert, but that may effectively end his season
  3. Randy Moss was never a head case. Frustrated, sure. Josh Gordon probably had the most personal issues. Brown is just a diva on tilt.
  4. And load the bases with 0 outs for Braun? Lol ok I fear Braun a whole lot less
  5. what a foolish purchase. send them to me, I'll take care of their disposal.
  6. I've been told it's kind of embarrassing to hear me sing it in front of my not-Cub-fan friends. But horsefeathers em if they can't handle awesomeness staring directly at them.
  7. it will come out he has Meningitis, takes the whole training staff by surprise** **god I hope not and what I terrible thing to joke about
  8. Nah, I'd remember that. Some guy from the 70s or 80s, maybe an Oriole, possibly Brian or Patrick in the name. I always remember the narrative but not the player...IIRC he also wore glasses Don. Don Baylor. Had to have been.
  9. no you're not-I'm not happy with that. its a stupid way to play him. Hell, the Packers said as much by saying something to the effect "we knew we could win if we made him play QB" eta: In fact, when we let Fox go I was excited to think we could get a progressive offense-minded coach who liked things like rollouts and designed QB runs to utilize his athleticism. But every now and then, I have to squint to see if its truly Nagy behind the play-card, and not good 'ol Foxy himself.
  10. I have hope that Trubisky not taking preseason reps will account for all of his inefficiencies last night and he drastically improves. In fact, I'm hanging my hat on it. But man he better start improving over the next 2 games. It was stupid of Nagy That decision of not playing him in the preseason was the right move, I'm sure he had more than enough reps against the best defense in the league. However, his game plan last night restricted Trubisky and combined that with Trubisky's inconsistent play and you get that awful performance. Nagy put him in a position to fail and Trubisky followed-through. Trubisky needs to get better and Nagy didn't help. I don't buy into that. Trubisky was inexperienced when we drafted him. Last year, his first full season starting, he got better as the season moved along. To me, he's a player that needs A LOT of experience in live games. Going against your teammates in practice isn't the same. He should have played in at least 2 (and probably 3) preseason games. It's not to risk injury, its to get him making decisions real-time in real competition.
  11. horsefeathers I'm not even hoping for pro-bowl level QB play from Mitch, I just want him competent enough for the Bears to be serious contenders on the back of an elite D. Its a lot harder to do that way than having a Tom Brady carry you there, but I'd rather look forward to something like the 2013 Ravens or even 2007 Bears than having to face tearing it all down and starting over. This franchise is doomed to never draft an elite QB.

  13. I thought it was 5 great googily moogily
  14. Was just watching the presser. He clearly states there's of course variability, and brought up the game winning kick scenario as an obvious one where you bend the rule or whatever. I don't know if it was perfect conditions. There was definitely some wind and according to Nagy, had it been in the other direction, 51 was in play, so they were going in the bad direction I guess. However, if 49-50 was your limit they did a poor job of maybe setting up something more manageable (or conversely opening up your 3rd and 4th down playbooks instead of 4th and 10). I think there was a penalty too that pushed them back. yup
  15. I missed that. Who is deciding what this number will be, and how are they making that determination? Tabor. Based on pregame prep/kicks. I can see the value in that communication, ie the stc telling the hc what your kicker is good for based on wind, field conditions, rain, etc on a game-to-game basis especially at Soldier Field. It doesn't seem that weird to me, it seems prudent. Its probably done often throughout the league but it's being highlighted by the press because of the field goal issues the bears had last year.

  17. well hopefully, that was our worst play-calling game of the season and its only up from here. But I don't think our schedule gets any easier with the Saints, Chargers and Vikings coming up.
  18. It wasn't about just running it more. Many of the pass plays that were called were of basically the same concept. Look 10 yards down the field. If that pass isn't available, force it anyway or dump it. There was no attempt to spread the field in the entire first half. The safeties were leaning forward on every play call because every play that was called was in front of them. You brag about having all of this amazing speed (Cohen, Gabriel, Patterson) and you do absolutely nothing with it. Maybe the coach knows more about Trubisky than we do, and that spreading the field is just not an option with this QB. If that's the case, it's going to be a long season. I'm not nearly enough of an expert to assign an exact percentage live, but I'm pretty sure that not going down the field wasn't playcalling but rather a combination of the offensive line not giving him any time and Trubisky panicking and checking down too early. how good is GB's Dline anticipated to be? Was last night a harbinger of our Olines season ahead, or GB's Dline?
  19. In a weird way, Trubisky flaming out spectacularly might be a better outcome than a slight improvement and an ill advised 100 million dollar contract. thats not weird, thats definitive. weird, however, is exactly what we'll get: a slight improvement and a huge contract to Mitch
  20. this is the hardest thing for me to reconcile, that in a team sport one player, one position can absolutely make or break a team
  21. The offense looked so pedestrian. I felt like the offensive pass interference by Gabriel was [expletive], but as a whole Nagy and the O never got horsefeathers going. How much of it was lack of preseason reps? The next 4 games will be tough
  22. I think thats the first one I've heard him do
