  1. Prescott would be interesting, but is he going to be available and can the Bears afford him? Yeah, they could make it work. Cut Graham, Massie, Skrine, and Leno. Restructure Fuller. They can definitely get the space to make it work (easily if the cap is 195M). Dak is probably getting 35-40M AAV, but his cap number could be around 20-25M for 2021. Would probably mean no Robinson, but who cares if you have a great QB? Also, means you could spend a 1st or 2nd on a WR now that you don't have to take a QB. if you are cutting both tackles and the #1 wr, Prescott might not be great anymore.
  2. I wouldn't mind if the Bears took BPA in the 1st and Mac Jones in the 2 or 3. I know he plays with a ton of talent, and has a good not great arm, but he excells at reading the defense and accuracy eta: Jamie Newman might be a better pick for that matter
  3. Kind of sounds right. If so then I'm not going to worry so much about finishing horribly so we can draft super high to get a franchise QB, when most of the franchise QBs don't come from there. Besides, we've picked high QBs before too and they didn't magically result in SBs. Prescott would be interesting, but is he going to be available and can the Bears afford him?
  4. I'm 90% joking. I could live with a trade up, but it really has to be smartly done and the guy he chooses had better be a perennial pro bowl player. As he is now, Trubisky is average to a hair above average, so anyone Pace replaces him with has to be better. I'd say he's pretty firmly in the below average category. It's just good scheme can mask below average, even over a fairly long span. the last 2 games have def helped his numbers and I should probably wait until the end of the season to qualify him, but my thoughts on trading up stand. I'm def snake bitten by rotten QB drafts, but there's a sense I have that "the devil you know is better then the devil you dont".
  5. ...and you all want to trade up He's allowed to trade up if its his own mess he gets to clean up lol. That's the pull for any GM mortgaging a future away. If he's signed through 2022 instead of 2021 he's basically still on the hot seat, which is just slightly better than being a true lame duck. I'm 90% joking. 6. I know Wentz is playing with a lackluster supporting cast, but no thanks
  7. That's a tad dramatic. Maybe you could just stop watching football if it scares you so much.
  8. I'm less concerned they didn't score a TD in the 2nd and more thrilled that the D held Houston to 0 points in the second half. They were up by 23 at half. After that 80 yard run, Monty became the decoy. They ran a ton of play-action in the second quarter and Houston had to respect Monty which left their terrible pass D exposed
  9. I think if he finishes 95 or higher, he's good enough to carry forward regardless of their record. It would open up the 1st rd pick to all kinds of options like WR and OT, and you could still take a QB in the 2,3, or later rounds as insurance He’s been playing against garbage defenses true, but what if he hits 100 and they miss the playoffs? I'd agree, he has to play well against garbage defenses, but I think the bigger change has been the playcalling
  10. Only if he plays great the rest of the way out, the Bears win out, they make the playoffs, and they win two playoff games. Only Sid Luckman in 1945 and MCown’s hot stretch in 2013 are better seasons for QB rating. I think if he finishes 95 or higher, he's good enough to carry forward regardless of their record. 11. Trubisky playing himself into a new contract would be the best case scenario in this lost season
  12. Trubiskys passer rating up to 94.5 Where would he have to end the year for you to feel comfortable trying to resign him? I'd say 95
  13. it was easy after all: just take the play-calling away from Nagy now if Pagano could get off his ass
  14. I know Houston is horrible, but this is fun to watch
  15. play calling on this drive is very good, roll outs, boot legs, quick high percentage throws wish we could have seen this earlier in the season
  16. Holy offensive line Monty to the house
  17. ahh, that playoff hump is a 0-7 record. thats not a hump, thats a horsefeathering grand canyon but I'd consider Lewis, he is a good coach
  18. He's been a terrible starting quarterback. He'd be fine as a backup. He can provide a spark in a game if your starter goes down, and maybe play good for a start or two. Given enough time and a new surrounding I even think Mitch has an inexplicable "2017 Case Keenum" in him. It will just be in like 4 years and he'll be on the Vikings and come to Chicago and clobber them. Probably in a crucial win or go home playoff game. I mean, I don't think its out of the realm of possibilities for him to have an Alex Smith like second half to his career and be a starter for some time to come, albeit not with this front office and coaching staff
  19. if we draft a QB, Trubisky would also likely still be the starter at the point of resigning. Like I said, different situations, but just because this situation hasn't happened exactly the same way before doesn't mean it couldn't work out The thing with Trubisky is he hasn't been a complete failure like many 1st round busts. More importantly, he's on a team that doesn't have a Ryan Tannehill (or Kurt Warner in Leinart's case) type that flat out took his job or the ability to sign a Tom Brady in the offseason or the ability to draft a top of the draft phenom like the Jets do right now. which is probably why if I was Bears GM, I'd rather try to go with him on a prove-it deal and draft what I can at QB knowing I have a shot at some talent this year in the draft. That way, I'm hedging my bet on either QB succeeding with two choices who aren't over 30 years old. If you keep Foles, the guy you draft HAS to work out.
  20. Kordell Stewart, Matt Leinhart. very different situations, however Stewart was a second rounder. And was still the starter when he resigned for a new deal. Leinart did not resign with AZ for a second deal. if we draft a QB, Trubisky would also likely still be the starter at the point of resigning. Like I said, different situations, but just because this situation hasn't happened exactly the same way before doesn't mean it couldn't work out

  22. how do you generate that on PF? I'm having trouble pulling up Foles and Cutlers numbers for my own curiosity. eta: nvm, I found the chart in there bios. unsurprisingly, Foles and Trubisky are pretty close career-wise, Cutler ahead of both. Interestingly however, despite the benching, Trubisky has outplayed Foles this year by a decent margin in RATE+, 95 to 86 respectively. 100 being average QB play One of the surprising rate statistics for me was Miller's strong sack%. It's one of those things thats less O-Line dependent than you think, and ANY/A takes Sacks into account whereas passer rating doesn't, which is IMO it's biggest improvement over it. And Mitch, despite his legs, has crappy pocket awareness which passer eating doesnt dock him for. So even not adjusting for era, Mitch is still behind Kramer and Cutler in ANY/A and just barely ahead of McMahon. that's not surprising. Its clear Trubisky cant read defenses, and that alone could account for him spending too much time staring down the field and not paying attention to the pocket he's in and/or making sound decisions with where to throw the ball. you have to wonder if better coaching could have helped him with that, or maybe not
  23. what is "passer inflation" and how do you calculate it? I don't disagree that the league is far more QB friendly today then in the past, but I want to see those numbers on the Jim Miller claim The league wide improvement in passing efficiency. Pro-football has era-adjusted rating numbers. I'd probably chose ANY/A+, but they have several others too. Miller is a weird comp since he really just started one season, but he was a decent Bears-centric one. Not stylistically similar obviously. But the whole win 12-13 games and then lose to Philly ended up being poetic to the comparison too. Miller http://pfref.com/pi/share/ADNc2 Trubisky http://pfref.com/pi/share/0w4aI how do you generate that on PF? 24. also, horsefeathers Nick Foles. He's old and sucks and was only brought here because of Nagy. If Nagy is gone, which it certainly looks like he will be, Foles serves no purpose that cant be filled with better talent
