  1. nice new grass
  2. I missed it, what was embarrassing?
  3. any Western Il alumni? If so sorry for your loss ski u mah
  4. this is exactly what i would anticipate happening. a development that big would require infrastructure updates, and typically they are paid by the entity proposing the development. But in this case, where the landmark tenant is as large as an NFL franchise, federal, state and city will likely foot the bill somehow. But at least those improvements will benefit more then just the Bears, hopefully
  5. Eberflus doesn't count as part of Poles and Co? He hired him, but this isn’t baseball. Football coaches matter. And there aren’t going to be a bunch of mid season trades. Poles’s influence on this season is over, now it’s up to the coach and qb to determine the results. understanding Poles influence on the season is just starting, we are only now going to see what he truly accomplished good or bad
  6. It’s a little late for that, we saw what he did, which was very little. He hired a coach, collected some picks and added fringe players and random utes. Now it’s time to see what Eberflus & Co can do. We’ll have to wait until the spring to see what Poles really has planned. Eberflus doesn't count as part of Poles and Co?
  7. I was in the world of thought that said Poles was really hamstringing Fields, but if reports are true that the O-line is something to work with...well thats all I really wanted in the 1st place. As for the WR position, I hope Fields can make the most out of Mooney, Kmet (yes I know he's a TE, lets call them all "pass catchers") and whatever chopped hash sees the field. It feels like this position is the target for next off-season/draft. At least, that's a best case scenario at this point - meaning Fields continues to develop and Mooney and Kmet both have good years while the O-line continues to gel and fortify so..I'm excited for the season. Lets see what Poles and Co can do
  8. just play 3 cf's PCA Alcantara Davis
  9. yes, but those are generally paid by the applicant in infrastructure development fees. what I would imagine is the city/state will waive those fees. its money in a sense, but more of a trade-off in saying "look, I'll move here" But won't they also just figure out little tweaks and things that qualify them for federal grants for minor modifications, which then get negotiated between the Bears and whichever entity (say Metra) is applying for the grant? the shear size of the project will mean it will receive the upgrades, and will also likely qualify for federal infrastructure grants/monies. thats not really a thing the Bears would like get involved with but the city/state/county will to make it happen. Again, the Bears themselves will likley never touch that money
  10. and a project the size of an nfl stadium as its anchor and that much mixed use surrounding it would require those infrastructure upgrades, someone has to pay for them
  11. I'm sure they could get money for doing infrastructure, but the money would only pay for the infrastructure (ie train stops, freeway extensions, etc). the Bears themselves wont be able to direct those funds Can't they direct it in the sense that design of those things will be built to accommodate the related needs they want for the site? So if a 290 extension is done to accommodate new underpass walk/roadways and specific exits, it will? Or if they want their transit hub to have certain amenities it will? yes, but those are generally paid by the applicant in infrastructure development fees. what I would imagine is the city/state will waive those fees. its money in a sense, but more of a trade-off in saying "look, I'll move here"
  12. welcome to antiquated city planning. its (eta: parking is) a horsefeathering scourge and its everywhere
  13. I dont think they can do this "additional funds" = additional investors, tax breaks, direct public funding would be my guess There's probably some federal money to be found if they do something with the Metra station to make it a transit hub. Connect some Pace routes to underserved communities. Can they get some federal money to extend I-290 for that final stretch along 53, and then widen it and add some lanes and new entrance/exit ramps along the way? Outside of that, the onsite hotels/entertainment spots will probably level a tax to pay some additional village/County bonds for road/infrastructure enhancements. I'm sure some TIF is in play, but the starting level which to set the incriment value off of may be a big negotiating point for the village. I'm sure they could get money for doing infrastructure, but the money would only pay for the infrastructure (ie train stops, freeway extensions, etc). the Bears themselves wont be able to direct those funds
  14. Are all the small boxes along the south part supposed to be little strip malls or some sort of medium density housing? more or less, row houses/townhomes
  15. Conceivably, they could include affordable housing as part of the development in order to qualify for various government housing grants through federal/state/local authorities (think HUD or IHDA). More likely, they might offer to construct a new courthouse facility to entice Cook County and Illinois to chip in funding. The Rolling Meadows courthouse complex is directly across the street on Euclid and seriously needs an update. I could see the Bears offering to buy out that land and use it for office facilities and parking. I dont think they can do this "additional funds" = additional investors, tax breaks, direct public funding would be my guess
  16. eh, I see it as Poles grabbing the best fodder to see what he can get on the OL. Considering he completely ignored it up until more recently, I think its the right move. create competition with the best competition he can get. And lets face it, with the names he's gotten, how much worse are then then the ones he could have gotten in FA or draft? probably a wash
  17. soccer, maybe host a world cup, i doubt they'd get a 2nd nfl team to play there. concerts?
  18. if they win 7-8 games because of Justin Fields I would care less about missing on a top 10 pick
  19. he needed the last 5 years to really prove to himself that he was unfit for it
  20. Eagles Cowboys Commanders Giants NFC North: Packers Vikings Lions Bears NFC South: Bucs Saints Panthers Falcons NFC West: Rams Cardinals 49ers Seahawks AFC East: Bills Dolphins Pats Jets AFC North: Bengals Ravens Steelers Browns AFC South: Colts Titans Texans Jags AFC West: Chargers Chiefs Broncos Raiders Rams over Packers Bills over Chargers Bills over Rams
  21. I'm totally stoked to see them
  22. I guess thats the point (Goff). I went on da interwebs and discovered PFF gave them offesason and draft grades of A and A+, so maybe they have improved greatly...but theres still Goff I could see them winning 6, 7... I’m thinking 7-8 wins for the Lions, with the Bears and Vikings worse. I do not think the Packers will be a top seed. Is someone doing a prediction thread? nope, go for it

  24. IMO, that’s a little bit of a reach, but 2nd place seems right. they were 3-13-1 last year. To leapfrog both the Bears and Vikings would suggest a big/promising offseason to get to #2 which in all likelihood would have to mean 8,9 or 10 wins even in this division.
  25. I havent been following the Lions offseason, are they really on that much of an upswing?
