  1. Kmet was the 1st TE taken that year, but I think was always thought of as being a second tier TE in a good TE draft year (does that make sense?). That being said, he doesnt seem to be improving, at all. Its concerning.
  2. Most likely there were tiny slivers of time where a WR was open. A great QB would find those slivers and connect on those passes. Every time I see one of those All-22 breakdowns on Fields they point out numerous scenarios where he was a tick late and it leads to incompletions or completions where more YAC could have been had if timed better (granted, I don't watch those videos for other QBs so this could be something these 'analysts' do with every QB). It all comes back to the concerns about processing speed and time to throw. If he cannot improve in those areas, he will be a failed QB. I am not sure how you can coach those issues away unless Fields just had a mental block/fear of making the wrong decision that's causing him to process longer than normal. If that's the case, building up his confidence is probably the best way to overcome it. I think experience can work it out of him. He's on his second nfl offense, and I'm sure the reads are different between the two offenses. I wouldn't make any judgement on him until at least game 7 myself, and even then it would be "what does he need to work on?" with a finer focus
  3. tbf he just beat the Saints with Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman, Russell Gage as his most targeted pass catchers and 40 years of experience with 10 superbowl wins (I'm clearly being sensational) If TB was in his 2nd year, would he succeed with this Bears roster?
  4. if they are making that judgement after 2 games of coaching him in their system, I would start worrying about the coaches as well. lots of anxiety to go around
  5. the thing is, Orton HAD a better supporting cast then Fields does currently.
  6. This would be more convincing if it wasn't a copy-paste of the exact things I've been hearing about Bears QB busts since McNown. Exactly! I mean it's true. That talent is bad. But like I've said all offseason....do you spend a ton of money and force it? Miami is doing this with Tua. And granted, he had 6 TDs and 500 yards passing yesterday, but ultimately, he's probably not good enough for them to have spent all that money around him. And I'd imagine in a couple years, they're wasting tons of money on that supporting cast with inconsistent QB play and a few season that they have nothing to show for. NYG has done that for Daniel Jones, and again they are 2-0, but they probably aren't actually good and have no cap space to add a proven QB to that team next year. I love Fields as much as anyone on this board. My wife thinks I'd leave her for him if I ever actually met him (straight man crush). But at some point, he has to show some basic competencies of an NFL QB. He's still not throwing to open guys, when they do get open. He still isn't feeling the pass rush and moving in the pocket to avoid it. He's still holding onto the ball too long. And honestly, he hasn't really shown progress in that area. I know, new offense, new players everywhere, bad playcalling, whatever excuse you want to make, but they aren't going to sit around and spend huge money to add big-time talent around him if Fields isn't improving on those basic traits. Poles didn't need to cripple the franchise and he wouldn't have with a more meaningful and purposeful offseason. I agree Fields has work to do, but comon there is no way Poles offseason made any damn sense towards building any type of competent offense
  7. quantity is a quality, and they have no experience or understanding on how to develop a qb
  8. And we are all allowed to be annoyed at your annoyingly wrong take on what it takes to overturn a play in replay.
  9. I mean, thats exactly my point. he has no talent around him and thats been a known all off season. They probably aren't open, well, definitely aren't enough for Fields Right, no QB would be successful in his shoes. yea, I hate knowing it too.
  10. Are we sure any WR's are actually open? I mean, thats exactly my point. he has no talent around him and thats been a known all off season. They probably aren't open, well, definitely aren't enough for Fields
  11. The last time.l we clearly see a ball and not dark splotches, he is carrying it in this left hand. Lol Justin must have telekinesis and transferred to his right hand when we lose sight of the ball behind the blocker. you're misreading that. he's carrying it with his left and covering it with his right hand. he has both hands on the ball. But hell, look at his helmet, its broke the plane and even in that image the ball is further forward then his helmet
  12. i think an optometrist would make a killing with the posters here I also agree that the lack of pass plays was a terrible game plan. I have no idea why Getsy called it that way, it seems he is either worried about Fields, the wr's, or the o-line. Fields only threw 17 times against SF, ran 11, sacked twice. If you assume all of those were designed pass plays, Getsy called 30 pass plays against SF. 11, 8 and 3 respectively for last night, so 22 called pass plays. Again, assuming none of Fields runs were designed to be QB run plays. Obviously some were. But, I think one thing is clear, Fields isn't finding open wr's when he steps back way too much for one reason or another.
  13. idk...we cant draw lines but... https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2022/09/19/just-to-be-clear-justin-fields-scored-that-touchdown/
  14. the orange line on this drawing is well outside the end zone I take issue with that, its red! and yea, I drew it with my finger on my iphone. Scarey did a much better job of illustrating it above. Buy like I said, you could see the ball cross the line in the replay. And I dont agree that we would be livid if it was GB that got the benefit of a reversed call, only because you could see the ball cross the front edge of the goal line. It just seems like the Bears always run into something like this every time they play GB in GB. whatever. screw the packers. who's next, Texans? lets hope they let Fields throw...to whom I have no idea..
  15. The camera that took that image is at the goal line. If the ball looks past the front edge of the GL, it's a TD That's a TD, in the replay you can watch that brown spot all the way across it, and make no mistake it's the football. You can clearly see it is the football the whole time. This image is small and pixelated, it's hardly the best look, but even in it you can still make out the football crossed the goal line
  16. In his defense, he did execute
  17. You're not correct about that. There was a view that showed the nose of the ball over the goal line live, they talked about it on air. It doesn't really matter at this point. The refs chose differently I don’t know what to say, I saw all the replay angles and didn’t see clear evidence that it crossed the line. I wish I could find it, but the barstool image is not it
  18. If there is one thing that is disapointingly-declined more often than online gambling propositions, it's online fight propositions. I've been involved in multiple versions of both. None of them ever come to fruition, largely because the people proposing them are loud-mouthed blowhards with no intention of following through. You have no idea what I'm talking about
  19. "Slightly crossed over" is a TD That image from barstool is hardly the best look. Finding a better image is fruitless at this point, but it broke the plane The point is that it was called short on the field and replay rules have always been “clear and obvious evidence needed to overturn”. Based on the reviews I saw, I don’t think it’s clear and obvious at all. You're not correct about that. There was a view that showed the nose of the ball over the goal line live, they talked about it on air. It doesn't really matter at this point. The refs chose differently
  20. I agree, I didn't understand why Bears fans were flipping out over that call. It may have slightly crossed over, but no way they are changing the call with the reviews we saw IMO. Bears fans should focus their ire on lining up in shotgun for a 1 inch sneak. "Slightly crossed over" is a TD That image from barstool is hardly the best look. Finding a better image is fruitless at this point, but it broke the plane
  21. Fields has show more than just the occasional big play, he continues to hold on to ball, he's making bad reads, I don't care who his WR are, he's still making horsefeathers reads. What if Mike Martz is right? About Lance?
  22. Guys I'm telling you the only way we can feel good about the bears is if they are crippling opposing QBs horsefeathers offense
  23. We need a fight club Badly
  24. Who does he have to play with?
  25. The 80s were a cool time. Lynn Dickey getting crushed by the Fridge Charles Martin will always sit poorly with me
