  1. exactly. If Moore could be had at a reasonable pick, go for it. If it cost them a #2, they could still trade down in the 1st (assuming they would have top 10 pick) and get their 2nd rd pick back. At that point, they could start drafting bpa for all the holes they have and not have to be fixated on WR in the draft I'm pretty sure there is a cap floor (though I think it's based on actual cash spent) so the Bears pretty much HAVE to spend on something. And yeah, you can't punt on multiple seasons at the NFL level and expect to have a job. As for the trade, that's still a lot of moving parts. I'd love DJ Moore, but I don't think you can "plan" on spending a 2nd and recouping it in the draft. If teams know you are going to trade down, and Poles now has a history and based on the roster would have the desperation to trade down, then you probably aren't getting as much on a trade down as you would otherwise. Plus, the right players have to be on the board, etc. oh I agree, but trades in the 1st rd happen frequently enough that it's something that Poles could consider. And fwiw, why would he tell anyone that would be his plan? he wouldn't have to. But he also has FA to play in. My only point is there are ways that he could recoup that pick (or fill holes that 2nd rd pick would be for) and still walk away with a young stud WR for our young (hopefully) stud QB to throw to.
  2. there is absolutely nothing about signing Moore that would prohibit them from being "opportunistic" in the offseason. Not to mention, who in the offseason would be a better FA to get than Moore for the same value? If you could get him with a 2nd round pick, why wouldn't you? hes good, cheap and young I mean, saying for only a second negates a huge portion of my point. I'm highly skeptical that the cost would be that low. Unfortunately with the 2023 FA group, I don't think you match Moore, but if there were a Cooper equivalent trade that would be pretty opportunistic and then you keep your high value picks and also try and draft some budding stars, and use FA on line and some better WR depth. man, I'd even be very tempted to go with a 1st for him.
  3. I cannot imagine a scenario where they are unwilling to spend in 2023. Ownership has opened the wallet in the past, and Poles already punted his first season. It’s not like you can carryover unused cap for future use. They have to spend in 2023. exactly. If Moore could be had at a reasonable pick, go for it. 4. whats your proof on that genuis? fwiw, this site says the ave wr age is 27, so yes 25 is young https://apexfantasyleagues.com/peak-age-for-nfl-wide-receiver/

  6. I have 0 desire to trade for another WR this year. I don't see the point. DJ Moore will likely go for a Day 2 pick, if not a 1st. He's not going to put the Bears over the hump this year. And the GM just stockpiled 11 picks when he started with 5. I don't think he's willing to go down to 4-5 picks in Year 2 for a WR in a rebuilding year. is this an actual rumor out there or bukies wish list? fwiw, I'd prolly do a #2 for Moore. Moore is a legit #1 and only 25 years old.
  7. I hate, hate, hate going for 2 that early in the game because there are so many permutations where it ends up costing you in the end, just like it did yesterday. They kick the extra point and everything else goes as it did, the Vikings only go for 1 and are up 28-23 and a TD in the last 2 minutes wins the game instead of tying it or putting you in a position where you have to go for 2 to win. Statistically it may well be the right call but I just don't like it in that spot at all. if the Bears kick the xp there, the Vikings likely go for 2 after their TD as well. Given they have Cook and we have a flour sieve of a Defense, going for 2 made sense because we needed all the points we could get
  8. 100% So far, a pretty satisfying offseason. Now if the Ms can somehow force the use of the Dusty Dice and pull off the upset
  9. ...he just did put in a full game of that performance. Also, I'm confused by your numbers, ESPN has him at: Do you mean second half? Yeah, sorry. That was just the 2nd half. And yeah, that makes 3-8, 73 yards in the 1st half which isn't a full game performance, though can argue had 3 that could have been caught that really make those numbers look great. Makes sense. I'm encouraged by the "not rock bottom" 1st half followed by a genuinely good/great second. That type of QB play would keep a team in every game. I don't think he has to light up the scoreboard all game every game in order to be what we hope for, but if his baseline is competent QB play, he's bound to have some big games down the road by stitching two great half's together. He certainly has the talent

  11. If this is him figuring out, I'd be more than joyous Good game by Fields. Cut out the dumb plays, get a true #1 wr and a center please
  12. Ffs have you horsefeathering lost your mind?
  13. Look at Old Style calling the upset!
  14. in Minneapolis? do they mean -16.5 for the Vikings?
  15. I don't know enough about the different types of quarterbacks, but to me, they should run the Patriots' offense from the early Brady years where he was throwing short, quick passes on slants/picks to WR and button hooks to TE with the RB as a safety valve to dump off the ball. They could go down the field 6 yards at a time. Once the defense started biting then they'd hit a long pass or the RB would pop for a big gain. I know it's not the same people and the OL Brady had was good to great. But there is a way to game plan to based on the weakness of the team. If they can't find a way for quick pass plays to work, they're basically screwed. they called that offense the "ameba" offense because it was more based on finding or creating mis-matches. It was a bit more then 6 yards at a pop. It was Belichick looking for his fast guy against their slow guy. his tall guy vs their short guy, his slot wr against their sam lb, etc etc on every play. If Getsy can do that, yes please, but I dont think he's at BB's level yet.
  16. Isn't that the opposite of the WRs he has the most success with at Ohio State? Olave or Wilson?
  17. this worked great for the Giants on the Jackson pick..I say do it all game
  18. im not interested in that "why", but I am gravely concerned that his lack of moves is only putting this team farther behind
  19. This offense is so horsefeathering full of holes that Poles ineffectiveness last off season only creates a situation where he's likely to be ineffective this next off season. HTF is he going to plug the holes in one off season? He has draft picks and salary cap space, but whats he proven so far? he can oversell a terrible NFL offense? I mean, this past offseason is basically totally useless as to trying to tell us what Poles can do because he mostly punted on trying. You got a couple second rounders you can try and evaluate him on, but even then, grading draft success takes time. So who knows, but they have cap space to do whatever they want this offseason. Enough to dramatically increase the quality of the O. Not top 5, but competent, middle of the road O. Getting beyond that you need a QB obviously. If he punts on trying in FA again it will erase any idea that he is planning on building around Fields. not doing a damn thing to get some talent at WR or OL (and no, signing everyone's washed up 1st rd pick wr doesn't count) is what I can evaluate him on. he had cap space this past offseason, enough to do SOMETHING and he didnt
  20. competent personnel? How much competency does one need in order to stand in someone's way in order to let another person run by? more then the Bears have?
  21. Do they really need certain personnel to run a pick play? competent personnel?

  23. it is unreasonable to expect a 2nd year qb in a new system with no talent around him and a coaching staff determined to not try, to elevate the offense around him. Fields had an impossible task that maybe only a HOF vet would be capable of achieving. It is unreasonable. I think we all wanted Fields to be the MJ of the NFL and be an unstoppable force, unfortunately we have a young QB that needs to grow into being a NFL QB. But the Bears being the Bears, they are entirely inept at doing just that. To me, that's what's frustrating. Every horsefeathering year is another year the team is somehow allowed to waddle around with their thumbs uta instead of doing what every other nfl team seems capable of doing Getsy, Poles and Eberflop aren't going to figure out Fields in time. Instead, Fields will fail, Poles will get to draft his QB who will also fail to develop and we'll be looking at a new gm in 5-7 years
