  1. For the none football fans imagine if the World Series, all 4-7 games, were held in Japan or worse yet a country who really doesn't care about the sport of baseball and recently proved it by having a professional league fail there.
  2. You don't reward your loyal fans that have made you the clear No. 1 sport in the U.S> by taking there biggest game away from them. Having the two games in London during the regular season really pisses me off. The home team fans in those games have one less game to attend. That is not how you reward a fanbase for being loyal.
  3. No offense but if you weren't here through the horrible years you don't deserve to be here for the good years soon to come.
  4. Michael Crabtree ... :yahoo: I said in a Facebook status a couple months ago I would streak around my apartment complex if the 49ers get Crabtree :ninja: . Now I have to either do it or be a liar :-k
  5. No. Nemanja Calasan had to get special clearance to play for Purdue because he played what was essentially his country's AAU but over there they allowed pros to play in it. The NCAA at first denied him because he had played organized basketball against pros.
  6. Sandoval shouldn't be available. He's considered a future 35-45 HR hitter with a good average.
  7. Not sure why but I never got a PM from anybody about the 49ers being on the board for the first and second picks ...
  8. Artistically the photo of Lilly pitching in between the hitters arms is phenomenal.
  9. completely ignore his 5 year struggle prior to 07-08. Soto is a fluke. how can you say with such confidence that 1000 at bats at AAA level or higher with great production is a fluke? I'm just going out on a limb here but maybe its that he had 1,800 at bats that span six years of average and only 1,000 at bats over two years of greatness. I can understand someone saying Soto is a fluke I just don't agree with it. He's not as good as he was last year or the year before but he's also not as bad as he was 2001-2006.
  10. Just so no one gets the wrong idea I don't think Soto is a fluke. I'm not sure he's the .868 OPS guy from last season but I could see him being a .750-800 OPS catcher for years to come. When you add in his defense that would make him a very good catcher.
  11. I'm not so sure about that anymore. Derrek Lee is borderline useless. He still is a solid defensive first basemen but he can't hit at all anymore. Cubs leaderboard by OPS, at this date last season: Name PA OPS Lee, Derrek 100 1.130 Soto, Geovany 82 1.069 Ramirez, Aramis 98 0.996 Cedeno, Ronny 37 0.995 Fukudome, Kosuke 91 0.986 DeRosa, Mark 87 0.877 Theriot, Ryan 83 0.871 Blanco, Henry 16 0.795 Johnson, Reed 71 0.755 Ward, Daryle 19 0.676 Fontenot, Mike 36 0.575 Pie, Felix 37 0.529 Soriano, Alfonso 61 0.528 Murton, Matt 10 0.200 Patterson, Eric 6 0.000 It bears SOME resembalence to the end-of-year leaderboards, of course. But last year around this time, everyone was freaking out over Soriano. He ended up the season with typical Soriano-like numbers. It's way too early for people to be jumping to conclusions like that. Lee hasn't had a month with a .800+ OPS since the first month last year. That's a span of 141 games and full calendar year. Lee is simply no longer a good offensive first baseman. He is however still a good defensive first baseman which is why I think he is still starting every game.
  12. Kindly explain how in the [expletive] Rick cokehead Ankiel has a better track record than Geovany Soto. Geovany had a .855 career OPS in AAA while Ankiel had a .871 career OPS in AAA. The difference I see is that Ankiel has always displayed great power and was pretty consistent throughout the minors while Geovany was consistently mediocre at hitting until 2007 when he had a 80 point jump in average and 340 point jump in OPS from 2006. More than half (26 of 51) of Geovany's home runs throughout his entire minor league career including all levels (A, AA, AAA and rookie league) came in that 2007 season. Ankiel has always been a power guy who has little patience. Geovany has not always been a power guy who puts up a very good average for his position.
  13. That and Lee is hitting 3rd.
  14. FYI we should actually be using the Big Boy rather than the Big Mac. Big Boy's signature sandwich was called the Big Boy and it is identical to the Big Mac. Big Boys sandwich came well before McDonald's. The Big Mac was created by an owner of a McDonald's who said he created it to compete with the Big Boy.
  15. I'm pretty sure I've never booed a player on one of my teams. I get upset and a guy who consistently blows will make me angry but I will never boo. Booing for me reserved for opponents and even then I prefer to try and come up with a funny insult rather than boo.
  16. I think its so close its just a matter for preference. Fielder is actually a year younger but he he tends to hack at it a lot more. Fielder is the type of player that will have a rapid decrease in results in my opinion. He doesn't stay in good shape and when his bat starts to slow he likely won't adjust and will continue to hack at it. He's only 24 so his bat won't be slowing any time soon. I the way I look at it is Fielder = more homeruns and RBIs, while Votto = higher avg/obp.
  17. Haven't tried them all so I won't vote.
  18. Not going to help his bid to average 30 a game. 15
  19. but who is to say that it couldn't be expanded? i'm pretty sure that there are more than 200,000 cubs fans who wouldn't want to own a piece of the team. or that the price of one share could be higher than $125. both numbers could be adjusted. my point is that ricketts just going after big money investors when he could open up a very large infusion of cash by doing the same thing on a greater scale with a very loyal fanbase as well as big money investors seems kind of short-sighted to me. think of it this way- if ricketts opens up the possibilities to the fanbase and they come through in a big way, those big money investors could get more money squeezed out of them by way of the fewer opportunities to invest in the team. this plan is purely hypothetical, but it's one i think would work really well. I'm pretty sure we could get fans to cover half the cost of buying it if there was a round table thing where we take turns getting to go to the game, sit in owner's area and meet the team. If we did that I bet we could get 300,000-500,000 or so fans willing to but up 1,000 while getting that percentage slightly less percentage of the profits back. I.E. if 1,000 dollars equals .0001 percent of the cost of buying the team then you get something like .00001 percent of the profits each year. So Rickets doesn't have to put nearly as much money on the line and fans would get (using 15 million profit each year as a base) would get 150 dollars a year and the extra benefits once a blue moon. That's a really good investment monetarily and eventually you may get to meet the entire team too.
  20. :flame:
  21. Umm, he actually beat you by 8.5 hours and put it in the JAD forum. Time to merge! Well damn :cray:
  22. Heck I bet Cuban would give a billion to get the team from Ricketts. He reportedly bid more than that IIRC so he would actually be getting the team for less.
  23. This is one of those instances where the Government really shouldn't do anything but I wish they would. I wouldn't mind them stepping in and telling Selig, Ricketts and whoever else that if you can't afford it and have to spend months getting investors then you can't have the team and the top bidder who can actually afford it gets the team. The government obviously has no grounds to do any of that but I'm so sick of being stuck in limbo and I'm not really found of a bunch of people who are only looking to turn a profit being part of the ownership. Obviously all owners want to make money but I hate having owners that money is all they care about and they won't make a couple million less profit to have a winner.
  24. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=53869 Sorry Truffle beat you by a good 3 1/2 hours.
