  1. She looks a lot like Joba to me. Same chubby very wide face.
  2. He'll hate me for saying it but Andy texted me saying the win streak is bittersweet because he has had 1 game thread starter win in three years and in my first go around I have four. I don't have a problem with that. Does anyone other than Andy?
  3. :yahoo: that is all
  4. Win today and I might make them the Super Cubs ... http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:SsAAdmVUCIsmaM:http://www.tireball.com/photos/albums/userpics/10001/marshall_sean.jpg SEAN MARSHALL (0-1, 3.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 19 INN, 15 SO's) http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:osikugrqIkQv3M:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2391/2502127257_07588cb1f7.jpg Tim Lincecum (2-1, 3.16 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 31.1 INN, 43 SO's) Some Notes: - Lee and Theriot currently tied for MLB HR lead for the month of May. - Marshall pitched two shutout innings in relief against the Giants last year and picked up the W. It was his only appearance against them last year. - Lincecum was 2-0 against the Cubs last year with a 2.57 ERA in 14 innings.
  5. Could be the image of the playoffs if the Rockets pull off some upsets.
  6. Hate seeing that for any player, even a Cardinal. Maybe he can come back as a pitcher.
  7. It seems to me it might be an opportunity to give Theriot a day off.
  8. Why? I can change it back.
  9. Just curious to see what the board's general opinion is on how many home runs Theriot will accumulate this season. Before the season I would guarantee no one would predict 10 HR's, I wonder how many people think he can eclipse that number now.
  10. The eagle eye cherry? A guy who got on base 50% of the time in a game he somehow went to the plate eight times. You don't get an AB when you walk :P
  11. Just checked the score. Theriot hit another HR  I think its a real possibility to see him as an all-star this year. He has a large fanbase to support him and leads all NL SS's in BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, SB, RBI, HR (with the one today), and 3B. He's tied for second in runs.
  12. No kidding. I'll pony up for MLB.tv eventually, but until then, the lack of WGN games is annoying. As soon as I move to New Orleans at the end of May I'll buy MLB.tv. I won't be subject to any blackouts :yahoo: \:D/ :D :good:
  13. I saw one of those 13 wins. He almost got a no-decision because the Cubs all of the sudden scored 5 runs off him in the eighth before he could retire an out. Sosa started it all with the longest HR I've ever seen in person, 486 ft. if I remember correctly, into the "Front Row" restaurant. Kim got ejected this game because he was doctoring the ball and some sort of sandpaper or something flew out of his sleeve and Mark Grace saw it and showed it to the umpire. When I was a kid I saw one of those games too. IIRC Lieber lost a 2-1 pitching duel.
  14. I've never looked at Crawford stats in depth before. I'm surprised to see he has a career high .830 OPS and only three seasons above .800. The was people talked about him for a year or two I would have thought he was a lot better.
  15. oh, you think so, doctor? I'll have to do some deep thinking and get back to you on it.
  16. That is correct. I'm sure he's beaten the Cubs in an intrasquad scrimmage game.
  17. That is true but right now our offense is hurt and struggling so we can't really afford our pitching staff to get thinned.
  18. I immediately thought about the impact on leagues where steals in a win stat. He could steal a win for a lot of teams.
  19. Under. San Francisco has no hitters worth more than an Aaron Miles so he shouldn't have to try to perfect each pitch.
  20. In the words of Frank 'The Tank' ... "We're going streaking!" http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/03Hz2Vje6Mg1K/340x.jpg RYAN DEMPSTER (1-1, 5.40 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 30 INN, 25 SO's) vs. http://o.aolcdn.com/art/sportsdata/mlb/080324/images/players/hs_7777.jpg Jonathan Sanchez (1-1, 2.60 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 17.1 INN, 17 SO's) Some Notes: - The all powerful Lee of the last two days looks to have his first back-to-back-to-back homerun games since April 2006. - Cubs look to win four straight for the first time all season. - Cubs have scored 6 runs or more in each of the last three games which is the longest streak of the season. - Soto has hit safely in each of the last two games for the first time all season. - Dempster has allowed at least two runs in every start this season. - Dempster has pitched exactly six innings in every start this season. - Dempster picked up the loss in a 4-2 game last time he pitched against San Francisco last July.
  21. Do you happen to have some extra plane tickets to Chicago? Wouldn't do you any good anyway.... 'cause you don't have yer passport, eh? I know this was a joke, but North Dakota is still part of the US. :good: It is?
  22. I don't know a lot about softball but I do know its a pitching game. If you have a great pitcher the other team can do nothing and unlike in baseball where pitchers are babied, softball pitchers pitch almost every game. I also know in softball because they throw underhand not overhand they have a riser rather than a sinker. So a rise-screw would be a screwball that rises.
  23. i know. it shocks me how many sparring partners aren't as good as the boxers they're hired off the street to spar with. With head gear on sparring partners normally last long enough to allow the champion boxer to work on some things. That hasn't been the case.
