  1. You also have to factor in the time as well. Because of the short field, the Packers gave the Steelers 2 minutes to drive back down the field. Had the Steelers forced Green Bay to drive 80 yards, the Packers likely would have just kicked a game-winning field goal. This is true. Still though playing the percentages I would still say kicking it deep would have been the better move.
  2. They don't have faith in their defense and felt they could catch GB off guard with an onside kick, I guess. It was a crazy call but it was a yard from working. It's always a yard from working. Either a guy gets it 9 yards from the spot of the kick or a guy is one yard short from being able to grab it in the air before a defender can or it goes out of bounds 11 yards from the spot of the kick. I look at it like this. Onside kicks work IIRC 10% of the time so Tomlin was essentially saying he believes his defense had less than a 10% chance to stop GB from taking the lead. I think we can all agree Pittsburgh would have stopped GB at least 1 out of 10 times in that situation speaking hypothetically obviously.
  3. I guess Pittsburgh is giving up on the season. I see no logixal reason to go for the onside kick.
  4. Disagree. I like both but the second one is our logo. The reason you see more of the other one is because I lot of people want to have something they think is different from the norm instead of a boring regular logo hat.
  5. Except for the key points that are completely wrong, like Milton not owning up to when he performed poorly or not being able to play with the pressure of what was going on. He may have been playing better but he was certainly losing it. There is just no way that Milton Bradley can make it thru a season at wrigley, even if he was putting up sosa-like numbers. Some people are just drawn toward chaos. last season bradley had like the worst year of his career, and he still would have "made it through the season" just fine if our gm hadn't suspended him. I wouldn't call what he had done "making it through the season just fine." He had most of the fanbase seeing red over his comments made that led to his suspension. He was having a bad season and didn't own up to it whatsoever. I'm in the group that realizes he had a decent season (and preferred to keep him) but when he was struggling all he had to do was say I need to play better and act like he cared. Instead he sulked and acted pissed off at everyone and never took any blame. That said what Ginerballs wrote is wrong. If Bradley had a .300+ BA and 30+ HR season I doubt any of the problems would have happened. He would have been happy with his play and the fans would have been happy too (even though those stats aren't good it is what fans want). Those aren't even close to "Sosa-like" numbers.
  6. The Rockets beat the Thunder again tonight and haven't lost to them since they became the Thunder. I was reading the gamer on ESPN and the game notes at the bottom are something I read most of the time because they provide little known facts. I found them to be interesting for this game. I couldn't help but laugh at these. Only one of them actually has anything to do with the game that was played (the last one). The other ones seem to be taken from the previous games for each team.
  7. He'll do great convincing the team he is the future. In all honesty they should try to get Vick or Kolb off of Phily.
  8. Well that upset almost completely shuts the door on the 49ers. The Eagles and the Cowboys now have to lose out for the 49ers to have a chance. Plus the Giants can't win out and Atlanta has to lose at least one game. Oh well win tomorrow and get the first winning season hump done with. Then go into next season with two first rounders, an established QB, Crabtree for a full season, one of the youngest starting rosters one year older and a good chance to have an o-line that is more healthy. I like next year's chances for a breakout year.
  9. They are allowing teams to take a lead going into the fourth quarter a lot. That is not a good quality to have heading into the playoffs. The Colts have trailed or been tied going into the fourth quarter 5 times this season with a couple of those games the Colts needing 21 points in the fourth to win. You can keep doing that all you want but it will comeback to bite you eventually. Think about it for a minute. Seriously, take a minute. You're acting like they're doomed because they've almost lost a few games. Every other AFC team actually HAS lost games. They've all lost multiple games. The next best team has lost 3. I'd say almost losing is a better quality to have going into the playoffs than losing. Unless your argument is just that there is a chance the Colts lose in the playoffs, then you make no sense at all. Which teams off the top of your head can you think of that have never almost lost a game? I'm not saying any of that. I'm simply saying getting down and counting on a big fourth quarter is not a good trait to have and I'm pretty sure Caldwell probably harps on them about playing better earlier in games.

  11. I had Manning ahead of Brees before this game and I still do after. How? There is no logical argument for this at all. They both lead undefeated teams and Brees beats him in every stat save 80 fewer yards (on a lot less attempts though). The only people that support Manning support him because he has an undefeated and is Manning. Sorry but this year there is another who has an undefeated team and doing better in practically every statistical category.
  12. If the Vick boys can go to Va Tech I'd pass on them. I also have an irrational hatred for Va Tech due to Brees-Vick Heisman competing.
  13. Colts play with fire and again avoid getting burned. Not going to happen when they get to the playoffs.
  14. don't be bumping me
  15. This is one controversial topic. We've had what 2-4 big arguments spanning multiple pages in this thread. Anyways I agree with SSR. Unless we an get ND or some unexpected other big name school I would much, much, much rather stay at 11. Even with ND I'm kind of iffy. One I don't like them so I'm not keen helping them make more money and two if they join Purdue will likely not be able to play them every year in football (nor Michigan, Michigan State) and that would break a very long streak IIRC.
  16. Considering we lost on a last second long touchdown pass at Minnesota I wouldn't say it's colossal especially considering how we played on Monday. The 49ers are 1-5 on the road but the 5 losses are by 19 total points so it's not like we completely suck on the road.
  17. That is my favorite part.
  18. The charge calls or complete lack there of in the NBA I think is why college basketball is supported more. I like the NBA but absolutely hate their pussification of the defense over the last 10 years.
  19. So if the 49ers win this week they have a chance to make playoffs (probably about a 50/50 chance). After Phily they have St. Louis and Detroit. To get in it basically comes down to what happens in the NFC East. Assuming the 49ers win out and thus have a chance this is what it is. Phily: for us to beta Phily in a wild card they must lose out. Not too likely but they do have Denver and Dallas left. Dallas: They need to lose two out of the last three. I would put it at 50/50 since they have Saints, Redskins and Phily left. Giants: need them to just lose one game out of Washington, Carolina and Minnesota. Basically the only way the 49ers don't make playoffs if they win out is Phily beats Dallas and Denver and Dallas beats Saints and Redskins. That would make Phily the division winner and Dallas a 10-6 wildcard team. The only other scenario is Phily wins one of Dallas and Denver and the Giants win out. Of course if Atlanta wins out, 2 of 3 are on road but the Jets are best opponent left, they close the door on the 49ers. If the 49ers win out they will more than likely make the playoffs. That is a big if though with having to play at Phily.
  20. Illinois is probably has the most underage kids in the bar, but it is nowhere near Wisconsin in terms of partying. Penn State has been ranked pretty highly lately. I hate all things IU so I can't really comment, but I did almost get in six fights in a 24 hour span just for telling people I went to Illinois circa Eric Gordon's year on campus. I think it's safe to say wherever you go in the Big Ten not including NU will be a good time. That is why I don't go to IU much at all. I went for an Purdue-IU football game a couple years ago and they whole way to the stadium people were trying to pick fights. I have a hard time ignoring it and wanted to just say F it and throw the first punch. I doubt I will be back anytime soon because I'm not sure I will be able to control myself again. There's trash talk and then there's throwing things trying to start fights. IU is crap.
  21. those are all good games but most don't belong in the top 25
  22. Opposite for me. Seems like a couple years ago they had that epic match.
  23. Didn't realize we were talking football championship. Sorry in basketball season for me now. I would say Lucas Oil would have to be the front runner to be the host for the reasons already mentioned.
  24. Not possible.
