  1. Last night's game was tough to swallow but it was a must win for OSU. Purdue wins that game and OSU has no chance at the Big Ten. For the first time this season I felt they really needed Lew Jack. Hardly anybody was penetrating just passing the ball around the perimeter looking for an open three. Also during their next match up JJ needs to have his 15 footer sharp so he can take Lauderdale away from the basket. He'll be more of a factor out there against him. The JJ crap was/is what pisses me off most. He literally only got the ball once or twice in the last 7-8 minutes and I know one was the no look pass from Moore. We completely abandoned the inside and just would keep swinging it around the perimeter until 1. we had to chuck it 2. OSU stole it. It was awful and I don't know why Painter didn't call a timeout to remind them to go inside so that the perimeter opens back up. It reminded me of the UConn tourney game last year. We saw Thabeet and just abandoned the inside instead of going to JJ and having him try and draw fouls. As far as late in games when we are getting pressed Barlow needs to be on the pine. He was woeful against the press down the stretch.
  2. Ha. I tried to convince Jame to take Brown with out pick in the first round but he overruled me and took Stafford. I also said Maclin would be my second choice. We then both wanted English in the 2nd round and got him. After that we agreed on Asher Allen in the 3rd round and Andre Brown in the 4th round. I would say it was C effort in retrospect. Hah. Yeah, my ideal draft was Orakpo in the first and Will Beatty or Britton in the second. Too bad. And sorry about calling the Niners first. Blame the Texas/Bama game for being compelling enough to comment right around the time dew decided to solicit drafters. We could just use the same system as last year. That seemed pretty fair. Sounds good to me as long as it doesn't result in taking a QB in the first again :P

  4. I'm second in command of the 49ers because jame came out of his hole to post before me :P
  5. If you need someone to pick up a team I will pick up another one in addition to the 49ers.
  6. I like it as long as it doesn't mean Randy Wells gets the Marshall treatment. Lilly, Dempster, Z and Sheets would be guaranteed starters I would say. That leaves Wells and Silva. Obviously Wells should be the one who starts but something tells me we didn't trade for Silva just to see him do nothing even though we are likely better off with him doing nothing. Wells was way to damn good last season for us to bench him but I can't shake the feeling that we would to see what Silva has.
  7. 21 -17 = 4
  8. He hit 49 HR's as a rookie and would have likely still made plenty had he never touched them. He did make more by taking them but he would have still made plenty without them. That said I agree when people like this admit they need to stress the kids more so they understand that it wasn't worth it in the end. Anyways my first reaction was regret that the crazy youtube Cards fan was retired. This video would have been epic. What makes you think his 49 HR's were clean? Pujols will be the next big name when he's caught. Because if he's admitting it all why not admit that too. He said it started in 1989. Probably started then because he was sucking that year. As far as Pujols goes the thread mine as ... I mean might as well be locked now because it has gone down the inevitable road to pointlessness.
  9. I don't get it? What does that say about Purdue in the Big Ten? I'll create a table that illustrates Purdue's place in the Big Ten. Big Ten Titles Chicago* 6 1924 Illinois 17 2005 Indiana 20 2002 Iowa 8 1979 Michigan 12 1986 Michigan State 11 2009 Minnesota 9 1982 Northwestern 2 1933 Ohio State 17 2007 Penn State 0 --- Purdue 21 1996 Wisconsin 17 2008 CubbieBum was trying to insist that IU and Purdue were head and shoulders over everyone else for program history. They're not. I'm pretty sure I never said they were head and shoulders above everyone else. All I said was they are historically the two best and that is a fact based on the table above. Historically means you take all years into account. Some didn't take it that way and that was why it turned into an argument. If you want to say Purdue has been mediocre in the 2000's I have no problem with that. They have been down for the last decade. So would you say Purdue is historically the best team in the conference? No because other things like National Championships have to be taken into account and IU's one less Big Ten title doesn't out weigh the difference in titles.
  10.
  11. Damn you you never post but you have beaten me to the mock draft dibs on 49ers two years in a row.

  13. I was going to say that but you beat me to it. Maddux is definitely the type of great player who you could see becoming a great GM or manager but great players don't seem to do well in those roles. I just don't think they can relate to a majority of players because it was always so easy for them. Jordan would be a great example. Greatest player ever IMO but can't evaluate talent worth a lick.

  15. So let me get this straight ... because MJ retired you are saying the Bulls decided not to try and replace Horace Grant? If anything MJ retiring would make them want to replace Horace Grant even more because they knew they would be hurting. Probably not with the same sense of urgency since they didn't think they would have Jordan to compete for the title. This shouldn't be that hard to understand. You had a nice two year run because Jordan retired for, gasp, two years. Must have been a coincidence. He didn't retire for 2 years. He retired for 1 1/2. This is the root of the whole problem. Bulls fans want to ignore Jordan did come back and DID dominate in the playoffs. Your Grant comment still makes no sense. They made the playoffs and were still trying to win. Losing a guy who just average 15 and 11 means you would try to replace. Your theory is the Bulls lost Jordan, made the playoffs next year and then decided to just throw in the towel because they had no chance.
  16. Well this is a good consolation to losing yesterday. Not only does another undefeated down but that non-conference win against Tennessee looks even better.

  19. Yeah cause that next year after he knocked the rust off, he really sucked. They limped to the playoffs and lucked out once they got there. GTFOOH. The bulls easily win the first year he's out, hell they almost did without him if it wasn't for Hue Hollins being awful. He doesn't retire you are looking at 8 in a row. The rust was off in the playoffs. I just showed you that Jordan did as well in those playoffs as the years before and after. His being gone was not the reason you lost the second year. He was back for the playoffs the second year and was every bit as dominant. You got beat early in the playoffs because everyone not named Pippen and Jordan didn't do well.
  20. It would be an ill fated Big Mac comeback.
  21. :banghead: expected it though
  22. Gotcha. but you should be happy MJ took a couple years off. Let you get a couple titles. Lets not open that can of worms. I have argued with Andy on that topic more than once. MJ was back for the second one and while his regular season numbers were down his playoff numbers will still on par with what he did in other championship winning playoffs. He did everything in the 95 playoffs that he did in the six championship years but the Rockets still won. No, no he didn't. Yes, yes he did. He averaged 31.5 points per game (higher than 3 of the 6 championship playoffs), 6.5 rebounds (higher than 4 of 6), 4.5 assists (higher than 2 of the 6), shot .484 (higher than 4 of the 6), .367 on 3-pters (higher than 2 of the 6), 1.4 blocks (higher than all 6) and finally 2.3 steals (higher than all 6). Jordan did average or better in 5 of the stats and worse than average in just two. He was not the reason you lost early that year and Chicago fans need to stop using it as an excuse because it is lame is has no ground to stand on.

  24. Judging by what Ohio State has done tonight with Turner back I don't think Purdue will be unbeaten by this time next week. I think they drop one of either @Wisc or OSU.
