  1. For the record I've lived in downtown Indy for a summer and the bars are open till 2 or 3 every weekend and for big events they will stay open later if the bar is still crowded.
  2. Yeah. Poor guy. How can one reasonably expect to live any sort of comfortably on a lousy $10 million a year? I wonder if he can qualify for welfare on that sort of pay. Juan Pierre is making like 10 million a year, isn't he? I can understand him not wanting to play for that annual salary. I'm not saying that it isn't a lot of money, just that it makes a lot more sense for him to turn it down knowing that info. that's not the annual salary. that's what he gets this year; from 2011-13 he gets $25 million for doing nothing. deferred money is not money that doesn't exist. But it is money that he doesn't get to collect interest on... lowering the effective value of the contract. This is Manny we are talking about. I'm pretty sure he has no idea what interest is.
  3. Apparently he's a bad pick.................... I hope I keep making bad picks. Wasn't saying they were bad picks. Honestly just hadn't thought of Liriano. I would say you could have waited another round or two on him so it wasn't the best but not bad. Lackey was a good pick. As for my pick ... I'll make a small gamble and take Manny Ramirez. I don't like him as a player and with him not signed yet I'm a bit worried he will holdout for part of the season but his value is just too good at this spot. This gives me three of the top 4 guys in BA from last year, three guys who walk a lot, score runs, and hit homeruns. I guess offense is going to be my strength. I normally go pitching so we'll see how this works. You're probably just looking at 2008 stats. Liriano didn't pitch much because he came back in September. That said, he put up All-Universe numbers upon his return. In my eyes, he's as good.........maybe better than anyone in baseball. I've been looking at 2008, 2007 and three year average stats. He just didn't pop in my head as consideration. With his feuding with the Twins management and injury issues I just don't consider him a round two keeper. He's got the potential to be the Cy Young but he also has more risk than most early round guys. And I wouldn't call 6-4 3.91 ERA All-Universe.

  5. Both my guys are still available so now I must make the tough decision.
  6. You can have him didn't even consider him as a possible keeper. I'm now guaranteed one of the two people I wanted so I'm happy.
  7. Well I'm a bit iffy on the pick of Stafford. I'm still not convinced he will be consistent in the pros and I don't think the 49ers need a QB since they will be running so much. I also rate Sanchez better than Stafford. With that being said Stafford is a good prospect and good value at No. 10. With every single pass rusher off the board I can live with the pick.
  8. After much debate in my head between two batters and a pitcher I've decided to take Dustin Pedroia. Come next offseason I will be loving his exempt status. That makes a 1b and a 2b for me so I guess continuing around I will take a SS next ... or will I?
  9. There once was a man from Nantucket.... That's a long poem. I've always hated poetry of any kind. Say what you want to say. Don'tt skim the issue so no one truly knows what you are tying to say.
  10. wat is das?
  11. I love Raji. If Haynesworth does slip away from the Titans, I wouldn't mind them trading up to try to get Raji. I don't think they will, but Raji would be a nice replacement. Tennessee trading up to get Raji? What you going to give that team the rest of your draft picks? Trading up from 30 to the top 10 is near impossible.
  12. Copper told me in email he sent in his pick. Said he took Rollins. I assume Hosak is busy but thought I would let the rest of us know.
  13. Why complain when up 10 and the win sewn up? Rejoice you just made a big step towards NCAAs.
  14. That's the standard with all 3-pt shooting teams. If you live on them then you're likely not going to when more than 60-70% of your games because you are bound to have an off night every 4 or 5 games.
  15. 62%, including 8-16 from 3-pt, just ridiculous.
  16. michigan has players, though. manny harris is the best player on the court and sims ain't far behind him. Purdue was screwed as soon as Johnson got in foul trouble. No Calasan and Johnson out with three fouls 6 minutes in means no inside defense. Purdue thus had to rotate an extra guy into the paint leaving holes open on the perimeter for Harris. If they didn't role someone down Sims would just shoot over top Hummel or Green.
  17. Might happen with Johnson in foul trouble and Calasan out with the flu.
  18. It certainly helps to have veteran WRs around the young guy, but I think some young WRs can have success without an established group around them. How established do you mean, also? Do you mean only the Colts and Patriots should draft receivers, or can the Titans (who have veterans, but aren't very strong at the position) draft one by your standards? If you mean a strong, quality group, then there's not that many teams like that and most of those don't need WRs. If you just mean solid veterans, then I tend to agree. A solid group of veterans who are capable of producing, and don't count on the new WR to make a serious impact. For example, if a team is strong and has a solid core of veterans (the Titans) and seems in need of only a WR, by all means draft one (yes, I know they have other holes after FA). But if you need an impact WR (like Seattle), it's better to go out on the market and pick up a good FA and draft a different player at a position that is more predictable. How in the world do you justify that theory? Arizona shouldn't have drafted Fitzgerald? Why can't a mediocre team draft a WR? They can, but more often than not the WR drafted will not end up being a difference-maker. Truffle mentioned a few cases earlier, and most of those don't fit into this group either. Holt went to the Rams when they had Bruce (and someone else, I can't remember who), Moss went to MIN who already had Carter (and were already a pretty good team), Harrison I don't even remember where the Colts were when he came in, and Jackson was joining an established cast in Philly. Again, there are few cases of a WR coming in to make an immediate impact on a team that wasn't already an established contender. Holt's rookie year was the 99 Super Bowl Rams ( still a bit bitter) and Moss entered in 98 with Cris Carter and Jake Reed. Harrison, however, entered the Colts in 96 with their top receivers being Sean Dawkins, Brian Stablein and Aaron Bailey. They weren't good. And Jackson's group may be established, but they're not particularly good. Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett and Kevin Curtis are all ok vets, but nothing special. Owens came in with crap too. He played with Stokes adn some dude named Rice.
  19. He's not Calvin Johnson, but at 6-3 he's taller than most WRs in the draft, he's strong and athletic and has good to very good hands. Plus he's only 21, so he's got more time and upside. I kinda question whether he's average speed or not. He's no burner, but the times I've seen him I'd say he's probably above average speed. He's 6-1. Did he get measured at the combine? ESPN has him listed at 6-3. Yeah, he was measured 6-1 at the combine. ESPN probably didn't update it yet. Crabtree is essentially an average WR physically that played in an offense designed to get him the ball as often as possible. Still got to make the plays though, which he did repeatedly. I agree with IMB, he's not a total stud (like Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald), but he's a very good WR. i think he ends up a possession guy WRs bust so often, it wouldnt surprise me if he ended up a nobody teams are always so wet to add a star WR that i think they're dishonest with themselves sometimes. crabtree is average or just above average almost across the board, but he put up huge numbers so gms are soaking their britches. i follow the draft pretty hard all year long, but the talk is 95% "is he the next larry fitzgerald" and 5% "wait, is he a system guy?" I don't think he's the next Larry Fitzgerald, but I also think he's got a good shot to be a very productive WR. You hardly ever see a WR come in and make an impact from day one. Only established teams with solid WR groups should be drafting a WR. Watching him play in college it was obvious he was a ridiculous talent. I wouldn't put him on the Fitzgerald level but I would rate him higher than say Mike Williams when he came out. I realize Williams amounted to nothing but Fitz, Williams and Crabtree all play a similar style. Fitz was a clear top 5 prospect while Williams was between 5-15. I put Crabtree right in the middle. He can go top 5 but he could also slip to 8-12 if Maclin runs a 4.3 at his pro day.
  20. Maybin 249 Orakpo 263. That's a difference of 14 pounds. Obviously makes some difference but Maybin is far from a lightweight. Maybin is almost definitely a OLB that could play DE sparingly while Orakpo is just big enough to be a DE in a 4-3 but would probably need to be an OLB in a 3-4 because DE's in a 3-4 need to be more like a DT/DE hybrid.
  21. I know you don't really care but Maybin is 8 and Orakpo is 12 on there.
  22. huh? May I help you? Without him being able to workout, being rated by most in the teens, and the fact Kansas City has so many holes they aren't likely to reach to fill one specific void having Orakpo go three seems like a reach to me. It's your team but I don't think Kansas City would take Orakpo over Maybin if they wanted a pass rusher.anyways but they are close so I could understand it. I'm just surprised with all the others top prospects out there Orakpo would go so high.
  23. Holladay over Lincecum??? That's a head scratcher to me. Lincecum is ridiculous. I almost took him at No. 2. hey hey that was my 2000th post
